"Like I don't know," I responded to something Kate had said.
"What do you mean by that? Aren't you supposed to have come up with something yet?" She sounded more frustrated than I could have imagined, and as much as I wanted to face her, I just couldn't hold back that sudden sting in my heart.
"So, what do you think? You know you don't have to be mad, right?"
She ignored me. Her arms froze at the zipper of my dress, her frustration mirroring mine.
"All right…" I snapped. "I won't…" I paused mid-sentence when that sudden intoxicating scent filled the air.
Was he anywhere near this window? I couldn't help my sight as it drifted toward it. Though we stood at the far end of the wardrobe, I couldn't stop imagining what he might be doing at that moment.
The previous day's memory sent hot tremors running down my spine. He was capable of anything, and I wouldn't doubt if he was hanging right there.
