Chapter Fourteen
Elora's POV
His laughter filled the room, loud and sharp, echoing off the walls like I had just told the greatest joke of his life. I frowned immediately. Nothing I had said was funny. Not even slightly and that irritated me to the core.
"You are nothing," he said once his laughter died down, his voice cold and cutting. "Things will only get more complicated for you. People will hate you for no reason. They will keep testing you, pushing you, and you already know how weak you are. Especially the testing part."
"Right now, you are a murder suspect. Don't you think people will be more curious about you if I were to come up with that idea?"
The words hit harder than I expected. I clenched my jaw, refusing to look away from him. He wanted to intimidate me. He wanted me to break.
