spheres of light gathered around a boy with messy black hair, pale skin and sharp eyes, who was sitting on the floor, his back faced against the ivory painted wall, surrounded by book shelves.
Moon was holding a strange book, the cover was a dark blue engraved with the golden design of a headless horse and the hand writing was shaky as if the writer wrote it with a sword to his throat
But he simply shrugged and flipped through the parch white pages.
In the beginning of the book, the writer scribbled down his personal thoughts and emotions. Moon carefully read through them his voice clinging to each word before moving on to the next and after he was done reading the last sentence, a cold chill ran through his spine and his hand shook slightly.
'We will all die and live again, different but ultimately the same"
"I am scared"
A terrified expression stood on moon's face, though moon was from the ground, he knew there were things people weren't supposed to know, knowledge that could cost a person their life, he had seen people be made to dissappear just because they saw something they shouldn't have seen or because they knew something they shouldn't have known.
Such things was a common occurrence on the ground, were a person would stumble unto the scene of a murder then be killed themselves.
But this was different, he felt this was knowledge, no human was allowed to know, he quickly closed the book and said with a shaky voice
"Oh gods, what did i just read"
Moon had a good intuition or sense of danger and right now they were screaming, telling him to burn the cursed book.
And he really wanted to, he really did but right now his curiosity was stronger than his survival instinct, it was human nature to be drawn to the unknown, one would say it was how the human race had survive this long and make so many discoveries.
Moon said with a crooked smile and a shaky voice "I mean I already read a sentence and nothing happened to me plus the house wanted me to read it" he paused and thought for a while "yeah, what could go wrong" "Right house"
The house remained silent
"Oh well, here we go"
Moon opened the book again and read
"The era of mystery"
....
The era of mystery was truly a mystery and a time of miracles and wonder to the current world, even if they knew little about it, what they did know was that the humans of this era had manage to create their own god, not so they could serve it but so it could serve them.
The humans could not trust themselves to rule humankind so they created a being, a being akin to a god, that could stop natural disasters before it happened, effortlessly bringing people back from the brink of death and shaping the planet to the favour of humans.
Or even predicting the future.
Researchers believed that this ability led to the downfall of the era of mystery, somehow leading to the god deeming it necessary to drive the human race to extinction.
State of the artificial god: unknown
Remnants of the era of mystery: ten artifacts has been discovered.
Span of era: three millenia and a century.
Moon read through this with a look of dread woven across his face, finally understanding how this knowledge could be forbidden.
The people of the era of mystery were truly otherworldly, they had conquered death, natural disasters and most importantly to Moon, hunger. There were no social hierarchies everyone was equal, no one was hungry or thirsty but they were ultimately destroyed by the being they create.
Moon's face grew solemn and he thought
'If only they had trusted each other'
Finally, the first part of the book ended with a drawing of humans burning, some were devouring themselves or others while some floated high in the sky and behind them was the image of a god.
Moon simply sighed then flipped the pages, it was all ancient history now, no need to feel so frustrated.
The shaky writing continued on into the era of the cataclym
...
From the ashes of the old civilisation, the new one rose
The era of cataclysm was truly mundane, there was nothing really special about this era, the technology was advanced but paled in comparison to the era of mystery, the people lived normal lives never having to fight monsters, there was corruption in their government, there was hunger, war and death, if one were to describe it in one word it would be 'imperfect' but it was quite similar to our current society.
And maybe because of all it's imperfections, it was the longest lasting era of man kind.
'It's end was truly horrible'
The humans of the era of cataclysm were infected by a strange phenomenon called the stain and the stain spread across the planet like a plague, killing billions and infecting other, transforming them to abomination we now call dragons. Though they are few dragons left in our current era, each are on par with a level nine or a level ten monster while wielding strange powers and holding unto remnants of their intelligence and sense of self.
The humans who conquered the stain became mages who were able to perform magic and Awakener who were able to interact with the blue mural and together they fought the dragons.
Needless to say this era ended with blood and corpses
And moon now was also one of such awakens, destined to fight monsters and close the bridges or atleast die trying.
Moon shuddered at the thought but was also at awe of the courageous men and women who fought against such monstrosities.
'But if the dragons retained some of their sense of self why did they fight the awakeners and mages, they were all humans, or did they not just care or was there some other reason"
Moon shrugged knowing he did not have the answers and just hope the book would answer his questions.
Artifacts: two thousand artifacts have been discovered.
Span of era: three millenia and five centuries.
Awakened alived from this era: three
