Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Like Your Smiling Face

Having a teacher, being a Grand Magister, was undoubtedly a great honor. But for a low-level human mage like Leylin, who had just arrived in Silvermoon City to further his magical studies, he was already receiving such generous treatment.

Having two strong Magisters as his mentors seemed a bit excessive. Leylin wasn't overwhelmed by these generous treatments; he felt something else lay between him and his mentors.

Leylin hurriedly paid his respects as a student to Nallorath. Nallorath's broad palm lifted Leylin's hand, signaling that such formalities were unnecessary.

"Two days a week, you can come to my Mage Tower. I will teach you everything I know," Nallorath said earnestly, his eyes gleaming brightly.

Leylin nodded and said, "Yes, I will, teacher."

After the questioning, Leylin felt a little redundant. While it was true that magister was his title in name only, Leylin didn't believe he would interrupt the conversation between the two magisters.

"Teachers, if there's nothing else, I'll go downstairs. I still need to process this bundle of arrows," Leylin said tactfully. Belo'vir nodded, signaling Leylin to go downstairs.

After Leylin went downstairs, Nallorath withdrew an arcane orb imbued with powerful magical energy from his mage robes. Arcane energy surged within the orb, and a faint glimpse of an azure staff emerged.

As Nallorath gazed at the staff, a thoughtful look crossed his eyes. Like old friends who hadn't seen each other for years, he spoke meaningfully, "We taught humans magic, but now we must learn from them."

Belo'vir said, "You lived in the original Dalaran. The unique way humans harness magical power is worth learning from."

Nallorath placed the arcane sphere in the center of the table. After a moment's silence, he wondered, "Time is running out for us. Are we sure we can train a sufficiently skilled and powerful mage in these seventeen years?"

Grand Magister Belo'vir stared at the staff holding the arcane sphere and said firmly, "Of course. In less than a few years, this mage will be more powerful than any of us. He is far beyond his peers already in regards to magical prowess. He just needs time."

"I will continue to monitor the messages from this staff and the spirit of my long-departed friend." Nallorath said.

While the magisters continued their conversation, Leylin diligently crafted enchanted arrows in the material library. To increase efficiency, Leylin utilized his mastery, simultaneously drawing two miniature magic circles with each hand.

While this doubled the efficiency faster, the cost was enormous as well but it didn't matter to Leylin due to his increasing vast amounts of magical power from his daily absortion. Half an hour later, he was half finished with enchanting the arrows.

After a busy afternoon, Leylin finished making 75 arrows. There were still another 75 arrows to be completed slowly in the remaining days.

It was already night when they left the Mage Tower.

Back at the inn, Vereesa was already waiting for Leylin. "You're finally here. I heard from my second sister that you were going to make enchanted arrows for her?"

Vereesa said in a blaming tone with a look of resentment on her face.

Leylin understood what his beloved meant and said naturally, "I'm not making them for her, I'm crafting them for her to buy. It's a simple financial transaction."

Vereeasa's eyes drifted, and her slender arms wrapped around Leylin's chest. She asked gently, "Really? Then what about the painting you drew for my second sister? I noticed that she always carries this painting with her."

I didn't know about this. Leylin said vaguely, "Maybe it's because the painting looks very good. Girls always like cute and beautiful things."

"You don't understand my second sister. In short, don't mess with her or give her things." Vereesa warned Leylin in a gentle tone.

Nodding repeatedly, Leylin agreed to his beloved words.

Leaving the inn, she and Leylin wandered around the streets of Silvermoon City, then exiting this magnificent city.

Heading west, they reached the end of the West Sanctum. At night, the sanctum was long deserted of students and instructors. The only sounds here were the chirping of birds and insects and the surging waters of the Endless Sea.

"Your second sister said you have a more important mission next week?" Leylin asked.

She nodded, snuggling up to him and saying, "Well, that's why my second sister asked you to craft the enchanted arrows, right?" Leylin nodded.

"Next week, elite rangers will raid the troll camp north of Zeb'Nowa and kill the Troll Chieftain Kel'gash." Vereesa said with a serious look in her eyes.

This mission was indeed quite dangerous, far more difficult than a direct confrontation. Leylin understood why Ranger General Sylvanas was so particular about her equipment; this mission couldn't afford even the slightest mistake.

Leylin pulled Vereesa onto a boulder by the shore. It felt a bit chilly, so he let her sit on his lap. He asked with concern, "Will you go on this mission?"

She blushed slightly, but her eyes remained resolute. "Of course. I applied to my second sister, and she didn't reject me."

She was truly a qualified Ranger General, personally sending his younger sister to the battlefield.

Seeing Leylin's silence, Vereesa rubbed his face and said, "Don't worry. I'm not the same person anymore. I won't fail again."

Knowing that she wanted to prove herself, Leylin didn't push the subject further.

"Is this mission only for your elite rangers?"

Vereesa shook her head, pondering for a moment. "There are also several mages from the Silvermoon Council. They'll cast spells to assist us at designated times."

Mages helping the rangers? Leylin had an idea. Could he also wade into the muddy waters and offer some assistance to these elite rangers?

Although he was still ranked as a low-level mage, that didn't mean he was useless. You can discuss this matter with the teacher.

It is much better to go than to stay in Silvermoon City and worry about the safety of my beloved and the others.

Leylin hugged Vereesa tightly and said, "Well, you're a ranger, and this is your mission. I'll continue to make enchanted arrows for you."

Vereesa suddenly turned, looking Leylin in the face, and asked, "Will you charge me?"

This question embarrassed Leylin. He smiled and said, "Of course not. These arrows carry a special feeling, and gold coins can't buy them."

Vereesa got the answer she wanted, scratched Leylin's nose, and said playfully, "Hateful."

Two moons in the night sky cast a cold moonlight across the Endless Sea. In late autumn, the sea breeze was chilly.

"It's a bit cold." Vereesa snuggled into Leylin's arms.

With a swish! Leylin's mouth curled up, and dozens of fire orbs surrounded Leylin and Vereesa. The blazing flames caused the temperature to rise sharply.

Unaware of Leylin's spell, she exclaimed in surprise, smiling at the surrounding flaming orbs.

Leylin having enough mastery to transform the ten orbs, causing them to rapidly spin in a fixed circle. Within the circle, two fireballs remained stationary, while one orb swayed from side to side.

"What does this look like?" Leylin said, his magic tricks turning into a small show.

Vereesa pinched Leylin's face and said, "It looks like your face when you smile."

Leylin chuckled, put his fingers on Vereesa's chins and slowly pulled her closer to his face. Then kissed her passionately. Vereesa closed her eyes and reciprocated the kiss even passionately.
