It was a little before dawn when the triplets decided to wash in the river and head back to the castle. When Alpha Kade returned to his chambers, his body ached from the night's run with his brothers. Her moonflower and honey scent hit him the moment he pushed open the heavy door. His eyes adjusted quickly to the room, seeking her form on the bed. But she was not there. His eyes quickly scanned the place and found her in the farthest corner of the room, huddled with her knees drawn to her chest, her small form shaking as if winter itself had claimed her.
Kade stepped inside and closed the door silently behind him. He watched as Lyra's hands moved frantically over her arms and face, scrubbing at her skin as if trying to remove something visible only to her eyes.
"I am sorry… the blood… I am sorry," she sobbed. She did not seem to notice his presence at all.
Though her heat pheromones had reduced, they still lingered in the air, tugging at his instincts.
