The reason was simple. Perhaps in the Douluo universe, nine was indeed the ultimate number—but after perfectly fusing metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, they had transformed into a single Five Elements soul power, not five separate elemental soul powers.
That is to say—the "ten-element fused soul power" appearing at his fingertip seemed to combine ten different elemental attributes, but in reality, it was formed by fusing only six distinct attributes: Five Elements, wind, lightning, light, darkness, and space.
Why not two attributes?
Because according to the Douluo universe's time-space rules, the soul power formed by fusing wind, lightning, light, darkness, and space five elements wasn't an attribute recognized by world rules—unlike Four Symbols and Five Elements soul powers. This was evident from the absence of a fusion law progress bar for these five elements in his attribute panel's Laws section.
After all, without a law progress bar, this meant the Douluo universe had no corresponding law for this attribute—and without corresponding laws, this elemental concept simply didn't exist.
The "great terror" during his first ten-element fusion attempt occurred because Chu Chengzhou hadn't used Five Elements soul power to fuse the other five elemental soul powers. From the very beginning, he had attempted to fuse six elemental soul powers directly.
According to world rules—if directly fusing metal, wood, water, fire, earth, and wind six-element soul powers—at most three other attribute soul powers could be added.
But after fusing metal, wood, water, fire, and earth into Five Elements soul power, then fusing with wind attribute soul power—this counted as fusing only two attributes. Since nine was the ultimate number, based on this foundation, up to seven other attribute soul powers could still be fused.
Having clarified these principles, Chu Chengzhou completely shed his fear of "great terror." Determined to press his advantage, he attempted to fuse the final time attribute soul power—achieving complete fusion of all basic elemental attributes.
Two hours later—
"Success... or failure?"
Gazing at the thread of fused soul power shimmering with eleven-colored radiance at his fingertip, Chu Chengzhou's expression flickered between excitement and disappointment.
By bypassing the "nine as ultimate number" world rule through first fusing the Five Elements, he had managed eleven-element fusion—but what did it matter?
Though eleven-element fusion significantly enhanced soul power quality compared to previous Four Symbols and Five Elements fusions, it still hadn't birthed the long-awaited Chaos Law seed.

At his right fingertip, a thread of Four Symbols soul power—fused from earth (metal), water, fire, and wind—appeared. Then, metal, wood, lightning, light, darkness, time, and space seven-elemental soul powers emerged one by one, each attempting to fuse with the Four Symbols soul power.
To discover the correct fusion sequence for Chaos attribute soul power—given enough time for trial and error—it was certainly achievable.
And whether his self-created fused soul power was correct or not, his attribute panel would provide immediate feedback.
For example—if Four Symbols soul power fused with metal attribute soul power created an unknown five-element fused soul power recognized by world rules—then the Laws section of his attribute panel would display a progress bar for that attribute's corresponding law.
After a moment, having tested all seven elemental soul powers against Four Symbols soul power, Chu Chengzhou saw no changes in the Laws section. He shook his head slightly, disappointed.
But if Four Symbols soul power didn't work—then try Five Elements!
And if that failed too... then FML~—should he just ascend using Four Symbols or Five Elements Laws instead?
'No. I will become the strongest god in Douluo!'
Chu Chengzhou immediately rejected this thought. Knowing a stronger path existed, how could he be so short-sighted? It was merely a matter of spending more time on trial and error.
After all, there were only eleven basic elements. Even blindly attempting infinite combinations would eventually lead to success—"waiting for clouds to clear and the moon to appear."

Staring at the white soul power thread formed by fusing the golden-green-blue-red-yellow Five Elements soul power at his right index fingertip with silver space soul power, Chu Chengzhou sank into deep thought.
A question arose: Five Elements plus space—what attribute was this?
