He looked up sharply. "That makes sense. Alpha must have asked Alexander to adopt that kid."
"What?" Aylin asked. "Why would he do something like that?"
"Because they knew the background," Zayden said, his tone icy with realization. "They knew who her dad was and that her parents had turned against Alpha. But that's not the reason Alpha called for the adoption."
"Then what is?" Aylin leaned in closer.
Before Zayden could say anything, Selina jumped in. "Because it was just easier. It was convenient."
She glanced around the room. "This was at the very beginning of Alpha's drug operation. He didn't have the resources or setup to really cover his tracks back then."
Reyes looked confused. "I'm not following."
