Author's POV
Lando's heart grew more restless as the car passed through the gates of the mental hospital. His hands were completely cold, and his foot had been tapping against the car floor nonstop.
He knew he wouldn't be coming alone today. Still, instead of feeling relieved, that thought only made him more uneasy.
So many terrible scenarios began forming in his mind, countless what ifs spinning endlessly inside his head.
What if Helcia didn't like his mother? Or maybe the opposite?
What if he had made the wrong choice by letting his sweet wife meet his mother?
No, it wasn't that he was ashamed of his mother—well, maybe a little—but more than that, he was afraid. Afraid that his mother might suddenly lose control and accidentally hurt Helcia.
To be safe, he had contacted the doctor a few days ago, and again just yesterday afternoon. He wanted to make sure that his mother, Zora, was truly stable enough to meet someone new.
