Anton's face was indeed quite well-known.
Especially in New York, where Batman was more famous than the president, Anton, as Batman's representative, was well-liked, and almost everyone knew him.
Because of this, fans and works from DC Comics were the most popular in New York.
In New York's universities, people fantasized about becoming superheroes every day, righting wrongs, and even the incidents of campus violence were significantly reduced compared to before.
The security guard's face lit up with surprise when he saw Anton appear.
"Can you sign something for me?"
The security guard quickly pulled a pen out of his pocket, then tugged at the hem of his clothes. It was perfectly smooth, without a single wrinkle, and he eagerly said, "Sign it on my clothes, please. I'm your fan. Your movies are amazing!"
"Good eye."
Anton gave the security guard a thumbs up. After signing in, he strode into the banquet hall with a swagger.
At this moment, the people inside, laughing and talking, didn't even notice the doors being opened.
Only a few noticed someone entering.
And among those few was the Baroness of the Cobra Organization, Anna DeCobray.
Her eyes lit up, immediately locking onto Anton.
As Anton reached the edge of the crowd, the Baroness, Anna, came over. A smile as warm as spring bloomed on her beautiful face. She swayed her slender waist, drawing close, and hooked her arm through Anton's, her two round breasts pressing against his arm.
Anton narrowed his eyes slightly, even able to feel her heartbeat.
"Hey, director, mind if I have a drink with you?"
Anna winked at Anton.
"Oh?"
Anton looked down at the woman exuding incredible charm and smiled.
Since you've offered yourself up, I won't be polite! "Miss, what's your name?"
Anton pretended not to know her, grabbed a glass of wine from a nearby table, clinked glasses with Anna, and laughed, "I don't think I've ever seen you in New York."
"Anna DeCobray."
Anna took a sip of wine, exhaling gently, "I've known you for a long time, Mr. Jameson. Your works are very famous now."
"You can call me Anton."
While speaking, Anton's eyes seemed locked on Anna, but in reality, he was using his peripheral vision to search for another important figure.
Destro!
But after looking for a while, he couldn't find the guy Destro.
"Mr. Jameson, you seem a bit impolite."
Anna feigned dissatisfaction. "I'm talking to you, and you're spacing out."
"Apologies."
Anton said, "I suddenly remembered that your last name is very similar to a French scientist I know, Daniel DeCobray."
"He's my husband."
Anna was startled, but her face remained impassive.
"Is that so?"
Anton chuckled, leaned in close to Anna's ear, and exhaled softly, "Ladies who are already married, like you, always have a unique charm in my eyes."
"I didn't expect you to like married women!"
Anna smiled slightly, full of charm, and gave him a look, "I remember the balcony over there is empty. Would you like to keep me company and get some fresh air?"
"Of course!"
Anton readily agreed, and followed Anna into the corner balcony.
A moment later.
He walked out onto the balcony with a disgusted look on his face, spitting on the ground.
Anna, perhaps wanting to confuse him, had come right up to kiss him as soon as she entered the balcony. Fortunately, Anton's mouth was quick enough to close, thus preserving his innocence.
Although Anton didn't have any thoughts of remaining chaste, he wasn't about to accept anything and everything either.
According to the information he'd gathered, this Anna DeCobray, the so-called Baroness, wasn't exactly faithful in her relationships. While carrying out various missions for the Cobra Organization, she used her body as a weapon, and God only knew how many green hats she'd given to her baron husband.
Of course, the movies didn't portray it so dramatically. Anna was mind-controlled by the bad guys, and was actually a good person.
But this kind of explanation was really quite… ahem.
In this real world, Anton only looked at the real information.
"Almost got taken advantage of!"
Anton walked out, looking disgusted.
However, thinking about the interrogation on the balcony just now, his expression became a little grim.
Destro, that guy, had actually left the scene less than five minutes after the banquet started.
Anna stayed behind because her husband, whose head was as green as could be, wanted to continue discussing high-energy physics-related issues at the dinner, which was why she didn't miss Anton's arrival.
As for the hiding place of the Nanite Warhead, it was highly classified, and only Destro knew.
"Looks like I need to end tonight's banquet as soon as possible!"
Anton swept his gaze across the room with ill intent.
At this moment, the rest of the Cobra Organization, who had been watching Anton and Anna's movements, frowned when they realized something was wrong.
Only Anton had walked out.
Something's not right!
Their expressions changed slightly. They guessed that they might have been exposed and immediately pulled out their guns, aiming them at Anton. Without hesitation, they fired several shots in quick succession.
Bang bang bang!
Flames erupted, and peanut-sized bullets shot out, hurtling towards Anton like lightning.
However, Anton, looking around, had noticed their actions long ago. With a step, he flashed behind a pillar.
Clang! Shatter!
The decorations in the banquet hall were torn apart by the bullets.
Some unlucky people were even directly hit and instantly fell into a pool of blood, twitching.
"Ah——"
"Terrorist attack!"
"There's a gunman! Damn it, this is a school, where did the gunman come from?"
People screamed in terror.
"Call the police!"
"Call the cops! Quick!"
People scrambled to the ground and crawled.
Most people knew that during a gunfight, they should crouch or lie down, find cover, and hide in a relatively safe place. They must not run around, or they would easily end up like the unlucky guy on the ground, hit by a stray bullet and fall.
Bang!
Bang bang bang!
Gunmen from the Cobra Organization had Anton, who was behind a pillar, in their sights. They slowly shifted their positions, intending to surround him.
Daniel DeCobray, who was standing beside the gunmen, was stunned.
These gunmen were actually his bodyguards.
How could it be that, in the blink of an eye, his wife had disappeared and even his bodyguards had suddenly turned into killers, attacking a stranger?
What on earth was going on in the world?
Daniel DeCobray hadn't figured out what was happening, but the situation before him had reversed itself in an instant.
Whoosh!
Anton, who was behind the pillar, took off his coat and yanked off his tie, throwing them towards a nearby pillar.
Bang bang bang bang bang!
The Cobra gunmen, who had been nervously watching the pillar, were distracted by the clothing and pulled the trigger repeatedly.
This expensive, handmade suit was instantly shot to shreds.
Anton took this opportunity to move.
He leaped forward and dodged behind a glass curtain wall, casually smashing the wine glass he was holding. He then peeked out and flung the sharp stem of the glass.
Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
The sharp edge of the highball glass pierced the throat of a gunner.
"Gurgle... gurgle..."
The gunner couldn't breathe, his eyes widening as he coughed up blood and writhed on the ground.
His comrades' expressions changed, and they raised their guns to fire.
The glass curtain wall immediately shattered.
However, Anton's trail was lost behind the wall.
"How is this possible?"
"Where did he go?"
Swish!
While the gunmen were still reeling, two more shards of glass flew in, piercing the eyes of two more gunmen.
"Aaaah!"
"I can't see! I can't see! My eyes!"
They wailed in agony.
Only a few blinks had passed, and everyone saw that out of the four gunmen, three had already been taken down.
The only one left was trembling with unprecedented tension, beads of sweat the size of beans gathering on his forehead and rolling down his face.
This person even felt that it wasn't him attacking Anton, but rather Anton hunting him.
攻守互换!
What kind of opponent is this?
They hadn't failed to gather information on Anton, and as far as they knew, Anton had never displayed such terrifying skills.
Could this guy, as Batman's representative, also be trained with a set of skills?
The two sides were deadlocked for more than ten seconds.
The last remaining gunman was overwhelmed with thoughts, his mind reaching a breaking point.
He gritted his teeth.
"Come out, put your hands up, or I'll kill everyone here! Aren't you Batman's comrade? Are you just going to stand by and watch them die?"
The gunman was going crazy.
"No!"
"Don't kill us!"
The people on the ground wore terrified expressions, and many of those with poor psychological fortitude couldn't help but wail.
The gunman was about to lose it.
The enemy hadn't appeared yet! He'd been holding his gun up the entire time, with no opportunity to use it.
With a ruthless look in his eyes, he unhesitatingly moved the gun barrel, casually aiming at a woman beside him.
"Ah——"
The woman collapsed on the ground, incontinent, the foul-smelling liquid soaking her skirt and flowing down her legs to the floor.
Just as the gunman was about to pull the trigger…
"Hmph!"
A dismissive snort, emanating from the nose, reached everyone's ears.
Whoosh!
A golden calling card shot out, arcing through the air like a curving bullet, slicing across the final gunman's throat and severing his trachea.
"Gah...gah...gah..."
His fate was the same as the first guy, whose throat had been pierced by the broken wine glass. He coughed up blood, his face quickly turning purple, and then he was lifeless.
Anton, his expression icy, stepped forward, picked up the gun the man had been holding, aimed at the two assassins who had been blinded, and pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang!
Both of them were blown away with headshots.
"It's over!"
Anton surveyed the room, his voice low and calm: "The police are on their way. No one leaves. I won't be held responsible if you do. I hope everyone understands during this special time."
Inside the banquet hall, everyone was just relieved to be alive. They weren't thinking about leaving, instead, they slumped to the ground, exhaling deeply.
Only then did people start to notice who Anton was.
"Anton, it's you!"
Someone exclaimed in surprise.
Anton turned his head and recognized the person as a former friend.
"Anton! Is he Anton Jameson? The director?"
"Not just a director, he's Batman's comrade, a full member of the Justice League! So he's that strong. No wonder he could join the Justice League!"
"Damn terrorists!"
People exhaled and whispered amongst themselves.
A few moments later.
Beep beep beep!
Vehicles from the New York Police Department quickly arrived at the entrance.
George Stacy led the police team into the hall. Seeing the mess and several bodies, his expression changed slightly. He quickly went to Anton.
Seeing Anton unharmed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
The two exchanged a few words.
Anton said, "That woman is on the balcony. She knows something. After you're done questioning her, have The Turtles put her in the temporary prison in the sewers. And Daniel DeCobray, that poor guy probably doesn't know much, but you can try questioning him."
With that, he walked towards the door, which was also the exit.
"Wait, where are you going?"
George was stunned.
Looking at Anton, it seemed like he intended to continue his actions, so he earnestly advised, "Anton, I'm not trying to stop you, I mean, the New York Police Department can help you. This is New York, after all, you know?"
"No need. You have no place in this matter!"
He paused, his tone icy. "The enemy is dangerous, and they're after Batman."
"What?"
George was startled. "They're after Batman?!"
Anton finished speaking in a few words and walked towards his car.
"Really, you don't need our help?"
George couldn't help but shout.
"No need, you guys don't need to come over later, we'll handle it."
Anton waved his hand and drove away.
Boom boom boom! The sound of the car engine roared.
In front of George, Anton drove his sports car away from Columbia University.
With a graceful leap, he vanished before the taillights of the car.
