Mrs. Anthony sat stiffly on the sofa, her face dark with anger.
She snatched the cup from the coffee table and slammed it onto the floor with a loud *clang*, steam practically rising from her head.
Nathalie descended the spiral staircase just in time to see her daughter in a rage.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She hurried over and asked in a hushed tone, "What's wrong?
Why are you so furious?"
Mrs. Anthony's eyes were bloodshot, her hands trembling with rage.
She spoke through gritted teeth, each word dripping with venom.
"It's that Nick Jonathan—utterly useless!
I gave him one simple task, and he *blew it*.
Pathetic."
Nathalie's face paled.
She lowered her voice further.
"Did... did he expose us?
Does Lucas know *I* was behind it?
What do we do now?"
"You'd better watch your back!"
Mrs. Anthony hissed.
"If we've crossed Lucas, there'll be hell to pay.
He could drag the entire Anthony family down with us.
