The next day, Mark left home very early in the morning and headed to school.
When he arrived in the classroom, Mark sat in his seat, looked out the window, and fell into deep thought.
When Edythe arrived and sat next to him, Mark didn't even notice and kept staring outside, lost in thought.
Edythe saw that Mark hadn't noticed her arrival, raised her eyebrows, and saw that he seemed lost in thought.
Edythe gave her characteristic playful smile and remembered something she saw on TV.
She slowly raised her hand and reached toward the back of Mark's neck.
Edythe's hands were naturally very cold, since she was a vampire, and the chill of her touch would make Mark shiver, finally getting his attention.
When Edythe touched his neck, Mark shivered, and she quickly pulled her hand back and pretended nothing had happened.
When Mark turned around, he saw Edythe and realized she was the one who had just played a trick on him.
Looking at Edythe pretending to be innocent, Mark almost rolled his eyes, because he clearly saw a barely noticeable smile on her face.
"So childish!" Mark murmured quietly, but loud enough for Edythe to hear.
Hearing the complaining tone, she stopped pretending, looked at Mark with that playful smile, and said:
"Hehe, you were so distracted you didn't even see me arrive. What were you thinking about?"
Mark looked at Edythe and replied in a light tone:
"Sorry, sometimes I get distracted by things. When did you get here?"
Edythe grabbed a book from her bag before answering:
"Just got here!"
"Oh..." Mark paused before continuing:
"About yesterday... I want to apologize to you."
"Yesterday? You know I don't even remember!?" Edythe said sarcastically.
"That…" Mark fell silent, a bit embarrassed.
But before he could think of how to respond, Edythe spoke.
"Oh... I remember now. Yesterday, right? About you being rude to me and leaving me hanging alone without giving me a chance to explain?"
You said you didn't remember because you stabbed me in the back?
Mark looked at Edythe's face and knew he was the one who messed up yesterday, but what could he do to make her forgive him?
Before he could finish his thoughts, Edythe's voice continued:
"If you want my forgiveness... then invite me on a date! Maybe I'll forgive you!"
Mark was surprised by Edythe's suggestion; he didn't expect her to be so bold.
But he quickly steadied his emotions and said in a joking tone:
"Is it okay with your boyfriend to let another guy take his girl out on a date?"
Although Mark knew Edythe was joking yesterday, he wanted to hear the truth from her own mouth.
Edythe saw that he was still in the mood to joke and replied in an unhappy tone:
"If I had a boyfriend, would I make such a suggestion? If you don't want to, just say so!"
Hearing Edythe's unhappy tone, Mark quickly apologized:
"I was just kidding. How about going out with me this coming Saturday?"
For some reason, when Edythe saw Mark get nervous when she got mad, it made her feel good, and she replied:
"Since you want to go out with me so badly, I'll reluctantly accept. Feel honored to go on a date with a girl as beautiful as me!" Edythe joked.
Damn, I never thought that besides being beautiful, she'd be so narcissistic, Mark thought.
But in his heart, Mark was happy, and seeing the smile on her face made his heart beat faster.
Edythe heard Mark's heart beating fast, and a playful smile appeared on her face.
At that moment, Mark asked:
"Is Saturday okay for you?"
Edythe thought for a moment before saying:
"Saturday is perfect. I know some great places we can go together!"
"Really? That's great. I just moved to Forks and don't know anything around here yet," Mark said.
"Hehe... So Saturday, at 3 p.m., I'll pick you up at your house!" Edythe said in a playful tone.
Hearing Edythe's tone, Mark felt embarrassed for some reason.
Then class started, and both fell silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
In the afternoon, after classes, Mark said goodbye to Edythe at the school gate, got in his car, and drove home.
When he entered the house, he didn't even notice that his father had already returned from work and was watching TV.
"That boy didn't even greet me when he got home!" William looked at his son's back and thought kids grow up too fast.
Looking at Mark, who was almost a grown man, William got lost in thought while watching TV.
In his room, as soon as Mark entered, he locked the door, threw his things aside, and flopped onto the bed.
He stared at the ceiling, lost in thought, his face turned red, and many emotions were visible.
Half an hour later, he got up and started looking for nice clothes to wear on his date, but after a while, he felt like he didn't have anything he liked.
He used to be chubby, and his clothes fit him perfectly, but now he was slimmer, and the clothes were a bit too big for him.
"I need to buy new clothes."
Determined, he opened the system's store and started looking for stylish clothes to wear on his date.
