I stepped aside. Anotta walked past me without another word. I closed the door behind her and stood there for a moment, my back against it, trying to process why she was here. This was… a little awkward, couldn't lie.
"Look at that," she said, scanning the luxurious penthouse with zero emotion. "From a rundown apartment to this."
"Time flies, huh?" I replied, turning toward her.
Without waiting for an invitation, she walked into the living room and sat on the single couch like she owned the place. I took the seat across from her and turned off the TV. Minne had apparently been watching the weather report, rain pouring down again… surprise surprise.
"I'm going to cut it short," Anotta said, crossing her legs. "I heard you had some problems with Nala."
"We're over that," I replied.
"As you know, Nala is the brain of Project Phoenix. I can't afford for her mind to be distracted."
"Hmm."
"I also heard you were fired."
