Minne disappeared for a second and came back with a soft throw blanket. She gently draped it over Esme's lap with a shy little smile, clearly trying to help her feel less exposed. Esme gave her a small, grateful nod.
Eleanor leaned back and exhaled. "God, today was exhausting. The new karaoke section at the club finally opened, and it was nonstop from the afternoon all the way through the evening. My feet are killing me."
"That busy already?" Jasmine asked.
"Busier than we expected," Eleanor replied. "But the tips were good, so I can't complain too much."
A comfortable quiet settled over the room for a moment, the kind that only happens when everyone is relaxed and glad to be together. The soft sound of the shower running could still be heard from down the hall.
Eleanor tilted her head slightly. "Who's in the shower?"
"Kayla," I answered. "She's staying with us for the next couple of days. Her car broke down and she has time off."
