He pulled the bracelet from his pocket then. "Hold out your wrist."


His fingers were warm as he fastened it, movements careful, almost reverent. When he finished, his hand lingered, thumb brushing lightly against my pulse.


We sat there longer than we should have. Talking. Not talking. Just existing together.


At one point, Ren leaned in and murmured, "You know, if anyone asks, this was just wandering."


He laughed quietly, then sobered. "Emy."


I met his eyes. "Neither is anything worth keeping."


He studied me for a long moment, then nodded. "I'm glad it's you."


My chest tightened—not painfully, but deeply. "Me too."
