While Earth began to grow, continents growing apart, forming new islands and bodies of water, Godfrey found himself in the compound of an abandoned fortress.
It had tall, thick walls with red flags billowing bleakly from the twin square pillars flanking the entrance. There was no gate.
It must have been destroyed. The compound was quite large. They were all used to appearing in medieval-looking dungeons so being in a fortress like this wasn't alarming.
However, where things became unusual was the vast red land beyond the wall and at the far horizon were skeletons, the small ones were barely visible but the giant skeletons revealed to everyone in the fortress that an absurd number of skeletons loomed at the horizon.
Luckily, they weren't moving so they would not be at the fortress yet. They had to make sure the gate was fixed and plans were made before that army of skeletons started moving.
