Chapter 87 - The Invasion of Blackheart

Once, beneath the surface of the earth, lay a vast cavern displaying the complete fossilized remains of a dragon's skeleton. It was one of the Earth's spiritual leyline nodes.

The owner of that fossilized dragon had once made this place its lair, guarding a dimensional rift to prevent creatures from another realm of darkness from invading the physical world.

But no one could have imagined that the dragon bones would one day vanish without a trace——and with them, the barrier between worlds weakened beyond repair.

At any moment, the dimensional gate could swing wide open.

Yet fate played its part. When Danny Rand, the so-called weakest Iron Fist, led a team of field agents back to the site, they discovered the rift—but also found it sealed by a mysterious power.

Runic inscriptions, glowing with infinite cosmic force, coalesced into a brilliant incantation that enveloped the boundary of the dimension.

"Even so,""For national security, we still need to station troops here."

The ever-steady Agent Phil Coulson spoke firmly.

Rapid-response units quickly moved into position beneath the Midtown financial district. Surveillance cameras were set, barriers raised, and a web of defenses built.

No gangs or local factions were permitted near the site.

Every piece of equipment came straight from Stark Industries—enchanted rifles, enchanted grenades, and other custom weapons—all designed specifically for combat against dark entities.

For according to the Dragon Warrior Lope's prediction, the Age of Demons was drawing near.

Yin and yang had fallen out of balance.Heaven and Earth themselves were beginning to realign their will. The signs were clear—slumbering dimensional lords were beginning to awaken, and the devils sealed in their infernal planes were breaking free one after another.

"It seems the story of Earth #996 is about to take a sharp turn."

From the depths of higher dimensions, a colossal figure formed of galaxies and starlight gazed downward, his voice like the ringing of an ancient cosmic bell.

He wore the robes of a Western monk. His eyes were like twin blazing planets, coldly watching the ebb and flow of the multiverse.

The Watcher. An ancient race born alongside the multiverse itself—possessors of technology millions of years beyond Earth's, nearly immortal, sworn only to observe.

The Watcher assigned to Earth's sector was named Uatu, son of Ikor, the Supreme Watcher who first decreed the Law of Non-Interference.

And on the other side of that law stood their cosmic counterparts—the Celestials.

Beings who embodied the will of the universe itself—judges, creators, destroyers—sowing seeds of life, obliterating star systems, deciding the fate of worlds.

Even the gods of Earth bowed to the Celestials' authority.

Of course, they did not monitor every universe constantly. But now, one existence had caught Uatu's attention—a single mortal.

"That Eastern youth…""Even I cannot see through him."

Uatu's voice rumbled again, filled with both awe and curiosity. This man was cloaked in mystery—his origins, his purpose—nothing matched the logic of this universe.

"A transmigrant?""A reborn soul?"

Uatu's eyes narrowed. In the infinite multiverse, nothing was impossible—not even the stories men wrote as fiction.

Yet still… that youth defied understanding.

"It seems chaos and conflict are destined to engulf the multiverse once more,"

he sighed, gazing into the shimmering expanse.

Crack.Crack.Crack!

The sound of shattering glass echoed through the cavern. The glowing runes reinforcing the dimensional barrier fractured, and in the blink of an eye, they crumbled into pieces.

Chaotic torrents of energy ripped through the air, tearing the dimensional walls apart, causing the entire boundary to collapse further inward.

Wooooo—!

A violent wind poured out from the depths of the rift.

The once-sealed cavern now radiated pure malevolence—its darkness crawling, alive, and hungry.

Specters and wraiths flitted through the gloom, undead spirits gnashing their ghostly teeth.

"Shit!""Call Tony Stark!""Load enchanted weapons!"

Coulson's orders rang out.

Clack-clack!

Bolts were pulled, chambers loaded. The fully armed strike force aimed their weapons squarely at the widening rift.

The enchanted bullets glowed faintly blue—specially made to deal devastating damage to demonic entities.

According to rumor, Tony Stark's personal armor—fused with enchantments—was powerful enough to challenge even the Master of Demons himself.

Then came the hiss—sssshhhhhh!

A thousand serpents whispering at once.Soldiers clutched their heads as invisible force clawed at their very souls.

And then—BOOM!

The rift exploded outward. From its depths, endless dark creatures surged forth!

First came the ghouls—their twisted forms rotten and blue-faced, with claws like knives.

Behind them thundered the hellhounds, multi-headed beasts with powerful limbs and jaws lined with rows of fangs.

And then came the skeletal legions, rising like a tide of bones—armed with swords and shields, their arrows slicing through the air.

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

An arrow pierced a soldier's knee; he screamed in agony—before a hellhound lunged and tore him apart.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Coulson emptied his clip, enchanted rounds bursting through the beast's skulls, spilling black blood onto the stone floor. But the damage was done—the agent was dead.

"Damn it!""Call the Avengers!"

"No response— they're dealing with the Hydra spy crisis!"

Agent Melinda May yanked the pin from an enchanted grenade, waited two seconds, and hurled it straight into the rift.

BOOM!

Flames of pure magic engulfed the area, vaporizing scores of monsters in an instant—but it wasn't enough.

The rift led to one of Hell's infinite realms, and more demons were already lined up to pour through.

Far away, in the infernal domain—

"Hahahahaha!""At last! I, ahead of all demons, am about to set foot in reality!""Who was it that aided me?""When I descend, I shall reward them…""…by devouring their soul personally!"

The pale, sickly-looking youth in a black tailored suit laughed madly, his eyes wild with ecstasy.

Three figures stood behind him—his loyal lieutenants:

The Wind Demon. The Earth Demon. The Water Demon.

Each emanated elemental power.

His identity was unmistakable.

"Lord Blackheart!""The dimensional gate cannot yet bear our passage!""We must wait a while longer!"

The gravel-bodied demon rasped coldly.

Blackheart. The son of Mephisto, ruler of one of Hell's realms—a true high demon, a sovereign among fiends.

"Reality…""will bow before Blackheart!"

In an instant, his frail form twisted and transformed—muscles burst through skin, dark armor gleamed like forged metal.Five talons curved like hooks; his entire body was a weapon.

His eyes burned scarlet—his face devoid of mouth and nose—and his hair turned to jagged quills like a living weapon.

The aura of pure evil radiated outward.

Even the Lord of Shadows himself could not have foreseen—that Blackheart had begun to move.
