Just as Mr. Lin was about to strike his wife again, a loud voice echoed through the room.
"Mr. Lin! You're under arrest for domestic violence, harassment, and attempted murder!"
It was Lucas, standing at the doorway with cold fury burning in his eyes.
Mr. Lin froze for a second, his face twisting in rage as he pointed a trembling finger at Lucas.
"You? You think you can arrest me?"
Lucas took a step forward, his tone sharp and steady.
"I don't think, Mr. Lin — I am. The police team is already here. Surrender now before we make you."
At that very moment, two uniformed officers rushed in from the next room. They grabbed Mr. Lin, twisted his arms behind his back, and snapped the handcuffs shut with a metallic click.
Mr. Lin roared in protest, but it was useless. The fight was over.
Mrs. Ning, still shaking, collapsed to the floor. Tears streamed down her face — a mix of relief and exhaustion. Lucas knelt beside her and said softly,
"It's over, Mrs. Ning. You're safe now."
He turned toward the delivery boy — Li — who stood near the doorway, his clothes wrinkled, his face streaked with sweat.
"Thank you, Li," Lucas said sincerely. "You saved her life today."
One of the officers stepped forward. "Sir, you'll have to come with us to the station. We'll need your statement — you're a key witness."
Li nodded calmly. "That's fine. I'll follow you… just let me grab my bike."
The officers escorted Mr. Lin out first, forcing him into the back seat of the police vehicle as he kept shouting and struggling. Mrs. Ning was guided gently into another car, her hands trembling as she clutched her purse. Lucas followed them, silent, his mind still replaying the chaos inside that house.
