Chapter 96 - Ch.96

At this moment, Lisa's enormous change greatly surprised Javier. Previously, Lisa's upper body and head should have been wrapped in layers upon layers of thick human skin masks, making her look grotesque. No one could avoid feeling revulsion toward those horrifying faces.

But now, all those hideous, terrified human skin masks had vanished, which was completely unbelievable, as if she had undergone an exfoliation surgery. What was even more miraculous was that Lisa had long, flaxen hair draped over her shoulders. Although the hair was tangled and sticky, and some of the tips had turned dark red from long exposure to blood and flesh, it still proved that Lisa retained a human appearance.

The only pity was that Javier couldn't see Lisa's face, which was buried under her loose hair, leaving only a pair of crimson eyes that constantly radiated a dangerous red glow. The only thing certain was that the girl had not sought death; she had released her obsession and gained a new freedom. If not, Lisa would not have peeled off all the human skin glued to her upper body. She had thoroughly accepted that her mother was dead. Now, Lisa was living for her mother's last wish and for herself.

Therefore, this was the vengeance of the scorned!

Thirty-one years ago, her father helped Spencer and the Umbrella Corporation complete the construction of the mansion. But Spencer tricked the family of three into coming here under the pretense of a dinner party, throwing them into the mansion's traps and injecting them with bioweapons as test subjects.

Her father's death, her mother's death, and the thirty-one years of torture Lisa endured—all the buried, painful memories finally awoke as she found her release. Now, Lisa's only remaining purpose was naturally to fulfill her mother's last wish and exact revenge! She had to survive and drag the Umbrella Corporation into the abyss of hell.

Wesker was Lisa's first target for retribution. The person who had injected Lisa with the T-Virus and cruelly tormented her, besides the mastermind William Birkin, was Wesker. Lisa would not spare this demon.

"Ho-ho-ho..."

"Die... Die... Die-die-die...!!!"

Gazing at the incredibly familiar Wesker, Lisa let out a low snarl and quickly rushed forward with a strange gait. She had likely noticed the changes in Wesker, but it didn't matter—Lisa just needed to thoroughly kill him. Whether Wesker was controlled by the Progenitor Virus or was mindless was irrelevant.

"Thump-thump-thump—!!!"

Her posture was extremely bizarre. Lisa's charge was like that of a wild beast; she moved on all fours, like a whip-spider. After a few powerful strides, she leaped into the air, pouncing toward Wesker. The iron chains on her wrists flew wildly, and the parasitic tentacles on her back lashed out furiously.

"Roar—!!!"

The Progenitor Virus controlling Wesker would not be outdone. It roared and commanded Wesker's muscles to rapidly swell, harden, and turn black. The newly grown sharp claws violently slashed out, attempting to strike down the airborne Lisa.

But... the Progenitor Virus had severely underestimated Lisa's strength. With countless viruses residing in Lisa's body, including the evolution of the stronger G-Virus and the intelligence augmentation from the Nemesis parasite, Wesker, in terms of vitality, endurance, and raw power, was inferior to Lisa. Although the primordial Progenitor Virus was immensely potent, Wesker's host body could not contain the evolutionary power in such a short time. At this current Stage One, Wesker could not fully access the Progenitor Virus's power; his host limits were too low to compare with Lisa's G-Virus and unique constitution.

"Pooch...!"

With one slash, the sharp beast claw did tear a massive wound in Lisa's shoulder, but the wound healed in mere seconds. Lisa didn't even cry out in pain. In the instant blood splashed, Lisa pounced onto Wesker, slamming him hard onto the ground.

"Bang!"

With the wrist shackles flying, Lisa's hands, like iron clamps, pinned Wesker's arms tightly, forcing them into the ground. Her immense strength caused Wesker's arms to sink deep, and the muscle tissue, tightly squeezed, began to rupture its blood vessels. By sheer strength alone, Lisa could crush the arms of the Progenitor-controlled Wesker. The virus quickly commanded Wesker to struggle, but the power disparity was too vast, like a ridiculous rabbit trying to escape a lion.

"Ho-ho-ho..."

"Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh—!!!"

In the next second, the parasitic tentacles on Lisa's back instantly attacked. Twisting and lashing out violently, the tentacles shot forth like projectiles. A full twenty tentacle-bullets screamed as they penetrated Wesker's body. This strike was far more devastating than Javier's Desert Eagle shots, which had only required five bullets to destroy his chest.

The tentacles pierced every part of him: arms, legs, abdomen, head, chest—anywhere flesh existed. Even the black, hardened shell the Progenitor Virus had evolved could not withstand it. Javier himself had previously seen Lisa's tentacles instantly tear through the defensive scales of a Hunter. The penetrating power of the tentacles was comparable to a sniper rifle.

The black, hardened muscle shell evolved by the Progenitor Virus was pierced like paper. Blood erupted like a fountain, quickly forming a crimson, foul-smelling pool on the floor.

Wesker's body was a horrific, mangled mess, utterly devastated. His head, mouth, neck, heart, abdomen, shoulders, arms, and legs were riddled with gruesome holes. His body was so mutilated that only remnants of muscle connected him; any tug would likely tear him apart.

As for the Progenitor Virus's yellow eyeball, Lisa ripped it out with her hand and squeezed it hard. Sticky fluid coated her hand, which Lisa distastefully shook off.

Wesker was now completely, utterly dead... or was he?

Javier didn't know the answer, but in this state, Wesker was about as dead as one could be.

"Ho-ho-ho..."

After dispatching Wesker, the monster girl Lisa turned her crimson eyes towards Javier. Seeing that terrifying gaze, Javier unconsciously shuddered. It wasn't fear, but the tangible pressure Lisa emitted. This direct gaze made Javier sense palpable danger!

Lisa, however, was examining Javier with intense curiosity. Since peeling off the thick skin masks, this was her first time using her eyes to look at a person; previously, she only relied on smell to distinguish creatures. Now that Lisa had regained her sight, despite the dark, odious tunnels, the reappearance of Javier and the S.T.A.R.S. team brought her some sense of hope. The world wasn't entirely made of bad people.

"Ho-ho-ho..."

"Go... Go... I take you... leave..."

After closely scrutinizing Javier, the monster girl Lisa whispered in a low growl. She then commanded numerous parasitic tentacles to wrap around Javier and gently lift him into the air, heading toward the other direction of the tunnel. Despite Javier's adult weight, he was easily hoisted by Lisa's tentacles with little effort.

Realizing Lisa harbored no ill will, Javier let out a massive sigh of relief. Overwhelming exhaustion then swept over him. He felt heavy and could no longer stay awake. His eyelids drooped, and Javier fell into a deep, unconscious sleep.

Meanwhile, a few minutes after the monster girl Lisa carried Javier away...

"Gurgle..."

"Gurgle... Gurgle..."

A series of strange sounds began to emerge. Wesker's corpse, lying on the ground, was repairing itself with miraculous speed. The twenty fist-sized penetration holes were rapidly growing new flesh and fusing together. The pool of blood on the floor stopped flowing and even showed signs of being reabsorbed. Countless gruesome wounds scabbed over and instantly fell away, leaving his limbs restored without a single scar.

This situation defied scientific explanation and violated the law of conservation of energy. Such massive injuries would typically require transplanted flesh to be repaired, as the energy and resources stored in the body alone could not regenerate so much missing tissue. Yet, the evidence lay before them—this was the "miracle" whispered by mad, virus-obsessed scientists.

Soon, all the horrific penetration wounds Wesker suffered were fully repaired. But this time, his body was different: he did not grow the sharp claws or fangs, and his skin was not a hardened, dark red shell but normal human skin. Furthermore, his blinded eye had not regrown the yellow virus-conscious eyeball but his original eye.

This meant Wesker had regained his normalcy and was no longer a puppet zombie controlled by the Progenitor Virus, but a human evolutionist. He was controlling the virus, not the other way around.

"Buzz...!"

"Er..."

In the next second, the dormant Wesker suddenly opened his eyes. A pair of crimson beast eyes appeared in his sockets. Although the original sunglasses were long shattered, a faint smile curved at the corner of Wesker's lips. His face betrayed unstoppable joy and excitement. Lying on the ground, Wesker clenched his fist, feeling the immense transformation within him.

"How does the saying go? A great calamity must be followed by great fortune...?" he mused.

"Heh-heh, I must truly thank you, Miss Lisa Trevor. Our decades of tormenting you and William were not in vain. Of course, I will not forget Javier Li, that clown. I will crush him in my hands one day!"

Indeed, Wesker had to thank the monster girl Lisa. Javier's surprise attack had killed him, causing him to lose consciousness and be taken over by the virus, evolving into that idiotic puppet form. That was an unacceptable outcome for Wesker.

But Lisa's sudden intervention, her instant slaughter of the puppet-Wesker, forced the Progenitor Virus back into a repair state. This repair period allowed Wesker to regain his consciousness and seize control of his body.

The now dominant Wesker deliberately restored his body to his human form, rather than the monstrous one, achieving a truly perfect fusion with the Progenitor Virus.

This was why Wesker was so grateful to Lisa. If the monster girl hadn't killed the puppet-Wesker, he would have fully transformed into a monster—an outcome Wesker desperately wished to avoid.
