"Okay! Okay! I'll tell you. I'll tell you!" Peter blurted the moment Winn's hand lifted again, the knife angled toward flesh. The metal caught the light. "Just—just promise me, you won't kill me. I promise the information is worth it."
Winn paused. He leaned forward, letting the tip of the knife rest lightly on Peter's trembling shoulder.
"Fine," he murmured. "I will not kill you if…" He smiled. "If the information is worth it."
Peter swallowed hard. Sweat dripped from his temple and slid down his cheek, disappearing into his collar soaked with blood. "The girl… she is still in danger!"
Everything in Winn went cold. His brows lifted in a controlled, chilling arc. "What do you mean?"
Peter wheezed, his breath catching as pain shot through his thigh. "When… when your guys grabbed me," he stammered. "I was going to meet point and kill. She said I had to finish the job today. I'm sure she's still waiting for me."
Reese straightened at that.
