Chapter 158 - Chapter 158 - The Final Goodbyes

The Edge of Betrayal

The top floor of Xero Enterprises was the only kingdom Han had left. While his father's empire crumbled under federal seizures, this glass-walled office remained untouched. The city lights flickered outside like dying embers, reflecting off the sleek, minimalist furniture. Han stood by the window, his dark charcoal suit perfectly tailored, looking every bit the cold CEO, even as his world burned.

Suddenly, the cold steel of a knife pressed against the skin of Han's neck. A shadow had moved through the room with impossible silence.

Han didn't flinch. He didn't even turn around. A slow, mocking smile curved his lips. "I knew you'd come," he said softly.

With lightning speed, Han grabbed the wrist holding the blade and twisted it with brutal force. He spun around to face Felix, who looked lethal in a tactical black leather jacket. Felix's eyes were filled with a murderous heat, but Han just smirked.

"Did you find out?" Felix demanded, his voice a low growl. "Why did you strike my wife? Why did you hurt Gabriella?"

Han scoffed, leaning back against his desk. "That's between me and her. It's none of your concern. Just like I never asked what's really going on between you and my father... did I?"

Felix's jaw tightened, his grip on the knife white-knuckled. "I know you knew," Felix hissed. "You knew your father stole my family's property six years ago."

"Of course I knew," Han said, his voice turning like ice. "You were always hunting him. I realized it's you at first glance in Raina's birthday party and realized you were acting, so I acted, too.....Later,I played the part of the oblivious nephew while you played the loyal husband. But now I see the full picture... you're a secret agent, always chasing my dad's illegal business to shut him down. Am I right?"

Felix didn't flinch. "Since you know this much, why try to stop me?."

Han walked to the other side of the room, his expression darkening. "Because I hate my father more than you do. He deserves to rot. A man who cheats on his wife and mistreats his children isn't a man at all." Han's fist slammed onto his glass desk, the sound echoing like a gunshot. "But... I will bring back every asset he lost. Those belong to us, not the government."

His eyes flashed with outrage. "That's why I'm angry, Felix. Because of you, the bank seized our family mansion. My mother is heartbroken. You had every right to destroy my father, but not the rest of my family. Especially not my mom."

Felix stepped forward, his face a mask of cold satisfaction. "Your father stole my family's mansion. My family felt that exact same pain. Why should yours be any different?"

Felix smirked, then moved with a blur of motion. He threw the knife—it hissed through the air, grazing Han's neck and leaving a thin red line of blood before thudding into the mahogany door behind him.

Han didn't even blink. He kept staring at Felix, the blood trickling slowly into his collar.

"Stay away from my wife," Felix warned, a dangerous smile curving his lips. "One more time you harm her, and that knife won't miss. It will take your life. I won't miss deliberately next time."

Felix turned on his heel and walked away, his silhouette disappearing into the shadows of the hallway.

Han reached up and wiped the blood from his neck with his thumb, looking at the crimson stain with a dark, hollow laugh.

"Did you really think I would leave you alone, Felix?" Han whispered to the empty room. "After you took everything from me?"

The Silent Coach

The Phoenix Mansion was a fortress of luxury, with its high marble ceilings and the soft glow of golden sconces. Gabriella stood in the middle of the grand living room, looking fierce yet fragile in a midnight-black silk slip dress paired with an oversized cream cardigan. She was talking to her loyal friends, Dona and Ajax, the air heavy with the scent of expensive sandalwood and the shadow of death.

The Pact of Vengeance

"I'm so sorry about your father, Gabby," Dona whispered, her eyes shining with tears. Ajax stood beside her, looking sharp in a denim jacket, his jaw set tight.

"Everything happened. No one can change the past," Gabriella said, her voice hollow.

Ajax narrowed his eyes. "I don't think Raina is done, Gabriella. She's planning something big. I can feel it."

Gabriella looked away, her grip tightening on her tea cup. She couldn't even tell them the truth—that it was Han who had actually struck her. I will deal with her, she thought darkly. She won't escape this time.

"How is your wound?" Dona asked softly.

"I'm fine," Gabriella replied, though the stitches still pulled at her skin.

"Don't go alone anymore," Ajax commanded, his voice deep with emotion. "Inform me. I'm in this too. Kevin wasn't just your friend; he was mine too."

Gabriella's face softened. "I know you care, but Raina went too far. She killed my father. I'll settle this score myself." She forced a smile, trying to mask the dark storm inside her. "Don't worry."

The Secret Agency

As Dona and Ajax turned to leave, the front door opened. Felix walked in, a polite smile on his face. However, the moment Ajax's eyes met Felix's, the air in the room seemed to freeze. Felix's smile vanished instantly. After a few casual words, Dona and Ajax headed for the driveway.

"Wait," Felix said to Gabriella, "I forgot my car keys in the car." He rushed out after them.

Outside, in the shadows of the driveway, Ajax was waiting. He was leaning against his car, a knowing smirk on his lips. "You took a long leave, Senior," Ajax said. "Why haven't you come back to work yet?"

Felix looked around cautiously. "Where is Dona?"

"I sent her ahead. She doesn't know," Ajax replied. "I'm a professional, Felix. I know how to separate family from the job. I haven't told Gabriella that you are a Secret Agent."

Felix patted Ajax on the shoulder, a look of relief crossing his face. "I don't want her to know. It would put her in too much danger."

"I was shocked when I saw you in my training camp as my Head Coach," Ajax admitted with a grin. "The higher authorities always talk about your victory files."

Felix smirked slightly. "Richardson's arrest... that was my mission."

Ajax's smile suddenly dropped. "I have bad news for you, Felix. Robert escaped from prison four days ago."

Felix froze. "What?"

The Bitter Sweet Lie

A few minutes later, Felix entered their bedroom. Gabriella was standing by the wardrobe, organized and calm. Felix walked up behind her and wrapped his strong arms around her waist, resting his head on her shoulder.

"Felix?" she whispered.

He turned her around, cupping her face in his hands. "I am so happy today, Gabriella."

Her eyes narrowed. "For what?"

"I finally got my revenge," he whispered, pulling her into another hug.

Gabriella's heart skipped a beat. Is he talking about Richardson? My biological father? "Who? Who did you get revenge on?"

Felix smirked and pulled out his phone. "Look. Phoenix Enterprises just surpassed Flint Enterprises in the market."

"Who is Flint?" she asked, blinking.

"A betrayer," Felix said, turning away to exhale. I lied smoothly, he thought, the weight of the secret agent life heavy on his chest. He turned back to her, changing the subject. "What did you make for dinner today?"

Gabriella wrapped her hands around his shoulders, her eyes sparkling. "Guess."

Felix leaned in and kissed her lips softly. "Whatever you made, I'll love it."

The Final Standoff

The night was suffocatingly quiet, the kind of silence that feels like the world is holding its breath before a storm. Moonlight bled through the windows of the Phoenix Mansion, casting long, silver shadows across the bed where Felix lay fast asleep.

Gabriella leaned over him, her heart heavy with a love she couldn't afford to feel right now. She was dressed for a battle, wearing a sleek peach-colored formal jumpsuit that looked soft but was made for movement. Her hair flowed freely, dark waves catching the moonlight. She leaned down and lightly brushed her lips against his forehead.

"Don't miss me," she whispered, her voice barely a breath.

She stepped away and dialed a number on her phone, her face turning into a mask of cold stone. "Are you sure she is there?" she asked the person on the other end.

"Yes," the voice replied. "She's ."

At the same time, across the city in the Raina Mansion, another daughter was saying goodbye. Raina stood over her sleeping mother, Bianca. Raina looked lethal yet ethereal in a high-waisted black skirt that danced in the wind and a crisp white silk shirt.

A single tear fell from Raina's eye, landing on her mother's cheek. "It's tough for me, Mom... but I know I have no choice. Only one of your daughters will live after tonight. Don't be angry with me."

Raina turned and walked out into the darkness, the clicking of her heels sounding like a countdown.

The Rooftop of Reckoning

The Central Plaza Old Building stood like a skeleton against the midnight sky. Once a center of commerce, it was now an abandoned, hollow shell. On the rooftop, the wind howled, whipping Raina's black skirt around her legs as she stood near the jagged edge.

The rhythmic click-clack of heels echoed against the concrete. Raina didn't need to look back to know who it was.

"I knew you'd come," Raina said, a mocking smile playing on her lips as she turned to face Gabriella.

Gabriella's eyes narrowed, her peach outfit a sharp contrast to the grey, decaying rooftop.

"I'm the one who brought you here," Raina laughed, her eyes darkening. "I knew that after I fired my last assistant, you'd just bribe the new one. So, I told her exactly where I was going. As I expected, she's your spy."

Gabriella didn't flinch. She didn't even look surprised. She simply smiled—a cold, terrifying expression. "So, are you ready for your end, Raina?"

Raina's smile vanished instantly. A deep, painful emotion flickered in her eyes. "If I told you to forget everything... to just back off and go home... would you listen to me?"

Gabriella scoffed, the sound full of venom. "Do you really expect me to walk away after you killed my father?"

"I DIDN'T!" Raina roared, her voice cracking with the weight of the secret she was forced to keep.

"I know you well, Raina," Gabriella said, her voice dropping to a deadly chill. "And you know me. Why are you playing innocent now?"

Raina scoffed in pure agony, her soul breaking. "You didn't believe me back then... how could I expect you to believe me now?" Her gaze hardened, her tears drying into ice. "Fine. I'm ready for everything. If only one of us stays alive tonight... then let's fight until the end."

----------

The Phoenix Mansion was silent, the air heavy with the scent of expensive cologne and secrets. Felix lay in a deep sleep, his breathing steady, unaware that the world was shifting beneath him. Suddenly, his phone on the nightstand chimed—a sharp, piercing sound. The tracking app flared to life, showing a glowing red dot at the Central Plaza Old Building. The hunt had begun.

----------

The Dance of Blades

Back at the abandoned building, the wind howled through the shattered windows. Gabriella lunged at Raina, her movements fueled by years of stored-up rage. Raina moved like a shadow, twisting Gabriella's hand with a sickening crack.

"I love this," Raina whispered, a dark, twisted smile on her face.

Gabriella fell to the dusty floor, her fingers brushing against a broken glass bottle. She grabbed it and swung, the jagged edge slashing through the air and leaving a thin, blooming scratch on Raina's arm. Raina didn't even flinch. She stood there, twirling the knife she had snatched from Gabriella earlier.

"How is my defense, my dear enemy?" Raina smirked, her white silk shirt fluttering in the cold draft.

"KILLER!" Gabriella roared, her voice echoing off the hollow walls. "You killed my father!"

Raina's jaw tightened. "I'm not..." She took a deep breath to calm herself. "Fine. If you don't want to fight, leave it." She gave a mocking, hollow smile. "But honestly? I'd love to play with you one last time. Who knows if you'll even stay alive after tonight?"

"Let's see who ends who," Gabriella hissed, her eyes turning a dangerous, vengeful red.

Raina suddenly threw the knife toward Gabriella's feet. She reached into her bag, pulled out another blade, and tossed her bag aside with a careless shrug. She raised an eyebrow, her expression a mix of mockery and something deeply hidden. "What are you waiting for?"

Gabriella didn't hesitate. She roared and charged, her peach formal dress a blur of color against the grey concrete. "You end here!"

As Gabriella reached her, something impossible happened. Raina didn't move. She didn't raise her weapon. Instead, she threw her knife far to the other side of the rooftop and stood perfectly still, her arms open wide.

STAB.

The sound was dull and horrific. Gabriella's blade sank deep into Raina's stomach. Blood began to bloom across Raina's white shirt like a dark, macabre flower.

Gabriella froze, her eyes wide with shock. "Why? Why didn't you defend yourself?"

Raina didn't answer with words. Instead, she leaned in, her face inches from Gabriella's. With a trembling hand, she slipped a broken half-moon bracelet——into Gabriella's pocket.

"Live long," Raina whispered, her voice a ghost of a sound. She reached up, her hand cupping Gabriella's cheek one last time as a single, heavy tear fell.

Raina pushed Gabriella back, her hand tightly gripping the knife still buried in her own stomach. She took a step backwards to the edge of the roof, blood dripping onto her black skirt. She smiled—a real, beautiful smile.

"You won... Scarlet," Raina whispered.

Then, she let go.

Gabriella watched in slow motion as Raina fell backward into the dark abyss. She ran to the edge, her heart sinking into her stomach. "RAINA!"

Gabriella looked down at her hands, covered in the blood of her enemy. She had done it. She had fulfilled her revenge. She should be happy, she should feel free—but instead, she felt a hollow, soul-crushing pain that made it hard to breathe.
