Chapter 155 - Chapter 155 - The Wedding Veil of Secrets

--------

The Gabriella Mansion felt like a hollow shell of its former glory. The grand hallways, once filled with the laughter of Gabriella and her father, were now eerily silent. The air smelled of expensive furniture polish and the fading scent of lilies. Roselette sat on the plush velvet sofa, her fingers trembling as she traced the edges of a silver-framed photograph of Fredrick.

A Vow in the Midst of Sorrow

Roselette was dressed in a simple, elegant white mourning nightwear, her eyes red and puffy from nights without sleep. When the front doors opened, her sister-in-law, Jannet, stepped inside. Jannet looked polished but concerned in a sophisticated navy-blue silk suit, her expression softening as she saw Roselette quickly wipe away a fresh tear.

"Roselette," Jannet whispered, coming to sit beside her. She took Roselette's hands in hers. "Please, be strong. I know so much has happened to your family... it's more than anyone should have to bear."

Roselette offered a faint, brave smile. "I'm trying, Jannet. Life has to move forward, doesn't it?" She paused, trying to sound cheerful. "Tell me... how is Han's wedding preparation going? It must be a busy time for you."

Jannet sighed, her voice filled with deep emotion. "In this state, you still care about us? We were actually thinking of postponing the wedding. It feels wrong to celebrate while you are in so much sorrow."

"No," Roselette said firmly, her voice regaining a bit of its strength. "I don't want to hold back my Han's happiness just for my grief. Fredrick would have wanted us to celebrate love. We must hold the wedding exactly as planned."

Jannet nodded, moved by Roselette's selflessness. "You have a heart of gold. Truly. By the way... where is Gabriella? I haven't seen her since I arrived."

"She is resting in her room," Roselette replied, gesturing toward the grand staircase. "The poor girl is exhausted from everything."

"Let me go see her," Jannet said, standing up. "I want to make sure she's okay." Roselette nodded, watching her sister-in-law walk toward the upper floor.

The Silent Pact

The meeting room in Richardson's Office was a cold, high-tech box of glass and steel. High above the city, the skyscrapers looked like jagged teeth against the gray sky. Inside, the air-conditioning hummed, making the silence feel even more uncomfortable. There were no assistants, no coffee, and no mercy—just Han and Raina.

The Cold Conspiracy

Raina was dressed in a sharp, tailored ivory power suit that made her look like a queen of ice. She leaned against the long mahogany table, her eyes tracking Han. Han sat in the shadows at the end of the table, dressed in a stiff navy blazer. He looked like a perfect businessman, but his eyes were empty, totally devoid of emotion.

"How did you silence Gabriella?" Raina asked, her voice dropping into a cold, clinical tone.

"She hasn't told anyone anything yet," Han replied, his voice casual, as if he were talking about the weather rather than the girl he had stabbed.

Raina scoffed, her heels clicking against the marble floor as she paced. "She hasn't yet, but that doesn't mean she won't. I know her better than you do, Han. She's like a wounded animal—she's quiet because she's planning. Before she makes her move, we have to silence her for good."

Han didn't reply. He just stared at his reflection in the polished glass of the table.

Raina chuckled, a sound that lacked any real humor. "Are you still concerned about her? Wake up to reality, Han. She's not your real sister. She's —a ghost from a past that was never yours."

Her tone shifted, becoming deceptively soft. "When I first found out she was Kevin's sister, I actually felt a soft corner for her. I thought maybe we could be different. But then I realized... she's been cunning since day one. She's been plotting her revenge against me this whole time. It's either me or her. And I don't plan on being the one who disappears."

Raina's eyes glowed with a dark, vengeful light. She was no longer the girl from the rooftop; she was a predator.

"Don't worry," Han said finally, his voice flat. "I'll settle her matter after my wedding. Let me focus on that first."

Raina scoffed, tossing her hair back. "Fine. Focus on your big moment. But I'm not losing any more time. While you're walking down the aisle, I'm going to end her story once and for all."

The Valley of Crimson Shadows

The air was sweet with the scent of wildflowers, and the sun felt like a warm golden blanket over the Emerald Valley. The grass was so green it looked painted.

A five-year-old girl, wearing a frilly white sundress that caught the light, ran through the meadow. She held her cupped hands together carefully, a secret treasure inside. She knelt before a two-year-old girl, who sat in the grass wearing a tiny yellow romper.

The older girl slowly opened her hands. A vibrant, sapphire-blue butterfly emerged, fluttering its wings. The toddler squealed in pure excitement, her big eyes following the butterfly as it danced toward the sky.

But as the toddler's gaze returned to her playmate, her smile died. The terrifying scent of iron replaced the smell of flowers.

The five-year-old girl was still smiling, but her white dress was turning a deep, horrifying crimson. A jagged wound in her stomach was gushing blood, staining the daisies beneath her. She didn't cry. She just tilted her head and fell backward into the grass, like a broken doll.

Gabriella bolted upright in her grand, silk-sheeted bed, a scream dying in her throat. The Phoenix Mansion was silent, wrapped in the heavy shadows of the night. She was drenched in a cold sweat, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird.

Felix woke up instantly. He reached over and flicked on the bedside lamp, the warm amber light cutting through the darkness. He looked at Gabriella—she was panting, her skin pale and her eyes wide with lingering terror.

"Gabriella? What happened?" he asked, his voice thick with sleep but sharp with concern.

"A little girl..." she gasped, clutching the duvet to her chest. "She was bleeding. Just like... just like that night."

Felix pulled her into his arms, his warmth trying to melt the ice in her veins. "Don't worry," he whispered, stroking her hair. "It's just a nightmare. You're safe here."

"But it feels so real, Felix," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Those two girls... they used to play in my dreams all the time. It was always happy. But tonight, the older one was struck. She was bleeding."

Felix sighed, his hand gently patting her head to soothe her. "I think you're just traumatized by the strike on the rooftop. Your mind is playing tricks on you. Dreams are just illusions created by the unconscious mind to process pain. It's nothing else."

Gabriella leaned into him, but the terror didn't fade. She knew the difference between a random dream and a memory.

---------

The Groom's Dark Confession

The Grand Wedding Venue was a masterpiece of white roses and shimmering crystal chandeliers. The air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and the upbeat melody of a string quartet. But inside the Groom's Suite, the atmosphere was suffocating. Han stood before a floor-to-ceiling gilded mirror, adjusting his ivory silk wedding suit. The heavy gold embroidery glittered under the lights, making him look like royalty, but his eyes were as cold as a winter grave.

The Confrontation

The heavy oak doors creaked open. Han didn't flinch; he casually turned, expecting a waiter. Instead, he saw Gabriella. She looked hauntingly beautiful yet lethal in a deep emerald green gown that contrasted with her pale, determined face. The silk draped over her shoulder hidden the bandages still wrapped around her waist.

"Why?" she asked, her voice hollow and devoid of emotion. "Why did you stab me? I still can't believe you were also behind Kevin's death." When he didn't answer, she roared, the pain finally breaking through her mask. "ANSWER ME!"

Han looked at her, a chilling smirk playing on his lips. "Yes. Do you still find it hard to believe? Even after I sank a blade into you?"

Gabriella scoffed in pure agony. She lunged forward, grabbing the stiff collar of his shirt, her knuckles white. "Don't lie to protect Raina! I know the person you were. This isn't you!"

Han chuckled, a hollow, terrifying sound. "Protect her?" His voice went deep. "No, Gabriella. You never knew me at all."

Gabriella's grip loosened. She backed away, a hysterical chuckle escaping her lips as tears blurred her vision. "Why? What did Kevin ever do to you?"

"Reason?" Han scoffed, his eyes turning a fiery, vengeful red. "Is a reason even needed? He was the illegitimate child of my father. He was the son of the woman who stole the happiness of my family—my mother's happiness."

Gabriella stood frozen. "So you knew... you knew all along and still played the role of my loving cousin?"

"No," Han's jaw tightened. "I knew about Kevin long ago. But I didn't know about you. If I had known you were his sister, I never would have treated you like mine."

SLAP.

The sound echoed through the room. Han's head snapped to the side, his fist tightening until his veins began to bulge, but he forced himself to stay still.

"How dare you kill my brother?" Gabriella hissed.

Han laughed, a dark and twisted sound. "Your brother? You don't get it, Gabby. Because of him and his mother, my sister and I lost everything. Our father's care, his love... he always treated us as second best. He didn't even consider my mother his wife except when the cameras were on."

"Then you should have questioned your father!" Gabriella shouted. "Kevin didn't know anything! He was innocent!"

"Innocent?" Han's fury peaked. "You don't know the half of it, Gabriella. And I don't intend to tell you."

Han turned to walk toward the door, his heavy wedding boots thudding on the carpet.

"I don't understand," Gabriella called out, her voice trembling. "All the evidence points to Raina. Jake was there. But how did you involve yourself in my brother's death? Tell me!"

Han paused at the door, turning his head just enough for her to see his cold, mocking smile. He laughed one last time. "You're so good at solving mysteries, right? Find out for yourself."

He walked out, leaving Gabriella alone in the silent room.

--------

The Grand Wedding Hall was a sea of shimmering gold and ivory. Thousands of white orchids hung from the ceiling, and the air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and celebration. Han and Selina stood at the altar, surrounded by cheering relatives. Selina looked radiant in a white wedding gown dripping with real diamonds, her face glowing with a joy she didn't know was about to vanish.

The Smoldering Fury

In the front row, Gabriella stood like a shadow in the sun. She wore a dark green gown looking elegant but dangerously cold. Her eyes moved from Han to his father, Richardson, who sat proudly in the front.

Because of you, everything happened, she thought, her jaw tightening. The secrets, the blood, and more than that your own son and daughter turned enemy to each other.

Beside her, Felix stood tall in a bespoke black tuxedo. He felt the waves of anger radiating off her. "I want to burn every bit of his happiness to the ground," Gabriella whispered, her voice barely a breath.

Felix leaned in, his eyes sharp. "Whose happiness?"

"Raina's," she lied quickly, her eyes darting away. Felix didn't say a word, but a small, dark smirk touched his lips. He knew her better than she thought.

-------

The Kiss of Betrayal

The ceremony reached its peak. Han lifted Selina's veil and kissed her, the room erupting in thunderous applause. As the "happy" couple turned to face their guests, Gabriella couldn't take it anymore. She turned and walked toward the exit, her heart heavy with a revenge she hadn't yet finished.

Behind her, Felix pulled out his phone. His voice was a low, chilling growl. "This is the time. Submit every piece of evidence against Richardson to the Senior."

He slid the phone into his pocket and followed Gabriella.

Just as Gabriella and Felix reached the grand mahogany doors, the heavy entrance swung open with a bang. A squad of Police Officers marched into the hall, their heavy boots thudding against the flower-covered floor. The music stopped abruptly. The cheering turned into panicked whispers.

"Richardson " the Senior Officer boomed, holding up a warrant. "You are under arrest for running an illegal drug empire and money laundering through your firm."

The hall went into total chaos. Richardson turned ghostly pale as handcuffs clicked around his wrists. Selina screamed, her diamond necklace shaking as she clutched Han's arm. Han, however, didn't move. His face shifted from shock to a terrifying, frozen cold.

His eyes locked onto Gabriella's. He saw her. He saw the tiny, victorious smirk on her face.

"He deserves it," Gabriella whispered, the sound of her own voice giving her a rush of dark power.

"Of course," Felix whispered back, his lips grazing her ear. "Anyone who brings a single tear to my wife's face doesn't deserve to be happy."

Gabriella blinked, looking up at him. "What did you say?"

Felix just smoothed his tie, his face unreadable. "Nothing, Gabriella. Nothing at all."

As Richardson was dragged away, Han stepped off the altar.

-------

The Raina Mansion was a monument of glass and cold marble, tucked away from the prying eyes of the city. Inside her master suite, Raina was a vision of lethal elegance. She was dressed in a form-fitting crimson jumpsuit that looked like a splash of blood against the white walls, her hair slicked back into a sharp ponytail. She adjusted her diamond earrings, her eyes reflecting a cold, inner fire.

The Hidden Weapon

Her mother, Bianca, leaned against the doorway, her shoulder still wrapped in a heavy medical bandage from the sniper attack. "You're late," Bianca noted, her voice weak but sharp. "The wedding is probably over by now."

Raina offered a thin, deceptive smile. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll be right on time." As her mother turned to walk away, Raina's voice dropped to a terrifying whisper. "Who said I'm going for a wedding? I'm going for blood."

She reached into her vanity drawer, pulled out a matte-black handgun, and slid it into her designer handbag. She kissed her mother's cheek, telling her to rest, and walked out of the house with the confidence of a predator.

As Raina reached her sleek sports car in the driveway, she froze. Standing directly in front of the hood was her father, Victor. As one of the city's most feared criminal lawyers, Victor usually looked calm and calculating, but today his face was a mask of pure, unbridled fury.

Raina stepped out of the car, sliding her oversized sunglasses into place. "Why are you standing there?" she asked coldly.

Victor didn't waste time. He rushed toward her, his eyes burning. "Did you strike Gabriella? Did you try to kill her?"

Raina stunned for a second, her heart skipping a beat. "Who told you?" she demanded. When he didn't answer, she scoffed, her face turning dark and vengeful. "It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters now is who wins this battle. Whether it's her or me."

"Raina, stop this!" Victor roared.

"Only one of us will live, Father," Raina said in a husky, breathless voice. "The other will take their final breath by my hand."

Victor's eyes widened in horror. He grabbed her arm, his voice trembling with a secret that had been buried for two decades. "RAINA! Do you even know who she is?"

Raina didn't flinch. "She's my enemy."

"No," Victor said, the words hitting like a physical blow. "She is your sister. The one we lost twenty years ago."

The world seemed to stop. Suddenly, a flood of repressed memories crashed into Raina's mind like a tidal wave. She saw visions of a sunny park... she saw herself at five years old, holding a butterfly, while a two-year-old baby girl laughed in a stroller.

She remembered the screaming. She remembered her parents, Victor and Bianca, having a violent, literal fight in public. She remembered the moment they turned around and realized the stroller was empty. The baby was gone. Raina remembered standing between her fighting parents, crying her eyes out as the police sirens wailed in the distance.

"Impossible..." Raina whispered, her hand trembling as she dropped her handbag. The gun inside clattered against the pavement.

Victor looked at her, his face aging ten years in a single second. "It's true, Raina. The girl you are trying to kill... is the baby we lost that day."
