Chapter 163 - Chapter 163 - The Final Fall

------------

The evening sun dipped below the skyline, casting long, golden shadows over the glass entrance of Phoenix Enterprises. Gabriella walked side by side with Ajax, the cool wind whipping through her hair. She looked stunning yet sharp in a tailored emerald green blazer dress and high boots—a look that screamed she was ready for war.

The Illegitimate Truth

"Ajax," Gabriella said, her voice dropping to a cautious whisper. "That day, there was another car trying to hit Felix. It wasn't just Jake. I think it was Han."

Ajax's jaw tightened. "Don't worry. I'll handle Han. He won't get anywhere near Felix."

Gabriella hesitated, her heart pounding against her ribs. "There's more. Han confessed in the cafe. He's the reason Kevin was murdered. It turns out Kevin was the illegitimate son of Richardson—Han's father."

Ajax froze, his face turning into a mask of pure fury. "That monster... he killed his own blood for an inheritance? I won't leave him. I'll make him regret the day he was born."

"Ajax, did you finish the background check on Elizabeth?" Gabriella asked urgently.

Ajax frowned. "Why are we focusing on her? Han is the immediate threat."

"Because," Gabriella said, her eyes flashing with a deep, serious light, "I suspect Elizabeth is Han's real sister. The one rumored to have died at birth. We have to reach her before Han does. If he finds out she's the true heir, he'll eliminate her just like he did Kevin." Ajax shocked again.

-----------

A Moment of Peace

A few hours later, the interior of Phoenix Enterprises was quiet. Gabriella stepped into the executive suite, searching for the man who held her heart. Suddenly, two strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind. She didn't flinch; she knew that scent anywhere.

"Did you come all this way just for me?" Felix whispered into her ear, his voice sending shivers down her spine. He was dressed in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking every bit the powerful CEO and the deadly agent.

Gabriella turned in his arms, a mocking smile on her lips. "No."

Felix's eyebrows shot up. "Then what for?"

She playfully brushed her nose against his. "Of course it's for you. Shall we go out for dinner?"

Felix nodded, but his gaze lingered on her eyes, full of a deep, aching love. "I want to spend more time with you, Gabriella. Just us. No missions, no secrets... and no revenge."

Gabriella felt a pang of emotion. She understood his exhaustion. "What's your plan, Felix? After all this is over?"

They both turned to look out the floor-to-ceiling window at the city lights. "I want to buy a private island," Felix said softly. "A place where the world can't find us. Just us and the ocean."

Gabriella smiled. "Not just us."

Felix smirked, leaning in closer until their foreheads touched. "If you say yes... I want a family. I want our babies running on that sand."

Gabriella felt her cheeks flush a deep pink. "Babies? I only want one for now," she teased.

Felix leaned in, his nose brushing hers. "So, you're ready?"

Gabriella blinked, her heart melting as she smiled up at him. For a second, the revenge felt a million miles away.

The romantic silence was shattered by the sound of the office door bursting open. The Assistant ran in, his face pale and covered in soot.

Gabriella and Felix jumped apart, standing straight as the air in the room turned ice-cold.

"Sir ! " the Assistant gasped, his voice trembling with panic. "There's a massive fire breakdown at the main warehouse! "

-----------

The night sky was no longer black; it was a terrifying shade of orange. The Main Warehouse of Phoenix Enterprises was a skeleton of steel and roaring flames. The heat was so intense it felt like it was melting the skin on Gabriella's face. She was still in her emerald green blazer dress, now smudged with soot and ash, looking like a warrior queen standing in the middle of a war zone.

The Heart of the Fire

Felix stood beside her, his white shirt singed and his sleeves rolled up. The fire reflected in his eyes, two burning pits of cold fury as he watched half of his empire turn into charcoal. The fire team worked frantically, the sound of high-pressure water hitting the flames creating a deafening hiss, but the raw materials were already gone.

Suddenly, a woman stepped out of the shadows. She was dressed in a sharp, white power suit—the perfect contrast to the black smoke. It was Nancy, Felix's older sister, who had just landed from abroad for a business meeting only to find her legacy in flames.

Before Felix could speak, Nancy swung her hand.

SLAP.

The sound echoed over the roar of the fire. Felix's head snapped to the side. He stood stunned. Gabriella gasped, her heart dropping into her stomach.

"This is all because of you!" Nancy screamed, her voice cracking with pure rage. "Your revenge! Your secrets! Look at it, Felix! Our family's hard work, burning in a single night! I tried to stop you, but you never listen!"

"Nancy, listen," Felix said, his voice low and hollow. "We can rebuild. Once the insurance money comes through—"

"Insurance?" Nancy laughed bitterly, tears streaming down her face. "I already called them. Because of the nature of the fire, they believe we started it for the money. We get nothing. We've lost our parents, our property, and now this. Because of you, we are nothing!"

Gabriella couldn't take it anymore. Seeing Felix—the man who fought the world to protect everyone—being broken down by his own blood was too much. She stepped directly in front of Felix, shielding him with her own body.

"How could you blame him, Nancy?" Gabriella said, her voice bold and fierce.

"Stay away from this, Gabriella," Nancy snapped.

"I won't!" Gabriella shouted back, her eyes flashing with a deep, emotional fire. "I am his wife. If his own sister won't stand beside him, I will! You don't understand the weight he carries. It's hard for him too, but he fights back. If we hide from our enemies, they will only chase us forever. We have to defend ourselves!"

Nancy froze, the words hitting her like a physical blow. She looked at Gabriella, then at Felix, who was looking at his wife with a gaze full of profound pride and love. In the middle of the destruction, she was his only sanctuary.

The moment of silence was shattered by the shrill ring of Felix's phone. He pulled it out, his knuckles white. It was an unknown number, but he knew exactly who it was. He answered.

A chilling, dark chuckle filled the air, dancing over the sound of the crackling wood.

"This is how it feels, Felix," Han's voice boomed through the phone, dripping with malice. "This is exactly how I felt when all my property was seized because of your little 'justice' game. How does it look? Your empire, burning to the ground?"

Han laughed—a long, melodic sound of a man who had finally tasted his prize.

"HAN!" Felix roared, his voice a guttural growl of pure, red-hot fury. He gripped the phone so hard the screen began to spiderweb.

------------

The air at the St. Jude Orphanage felt thick with secrets and the smell of old, dusty paper. The orphanage was a haunting building with tall, gothic windows that seemed to watch every move Ajax made.

The Orphanage Secret

The elderly in-charge lady looked at Ajax through her spectacles. "I remember the family," she whispered. "It was Zen Tyson. He's the one who adopted that infant girl twenty years ago. I don't know how the paperwork went missing from our files, but I am certain of it."

Ajax felt a jolt of electricity run through him. Elizabeth Tyson. The truth was finally out.

Suddenly, a shadow flickered across the window. Someone had been listening. "Hey!" Ajax yelled, bolting out the door. He chased the figure through the overgrown garden of the orphanage, his lungs burning. He managed to grab the stranger's arm, but the man twisted out of his grip, leaving his heavy black trench coat behind as he vanished into the dark woods.

Frustrated, Ajax searched the coat pockets. He pulled out a sleek business card with a gold embossed logo: Xero Enterprises. Beside it was a locked smartphone.

"Han's man," Ajax hissed. He realized with horror that the spy had heard everything.

--------

The Race Against Time

Meanwhile, the city lights blurred into streaks of neon as Gabriella pushed her car to the limit. She was dressed in a black leather racing jacket over her simple dress, her face pale but determined. Her mind was a mess of fear. She knew Felix was out for blood after the warehouse fire, and when Felix was angry, he became a force of nature.

Her phone buzzed. It was Ajax.

"Gabriella!" Ajax's voice was panicked. "Han's spy knows! He knows Elizabeth is the sister!"

Gabriella's heart nearly stopped. She slammed on the brakes, the tires screaming against the asphalt. "What? Did he reach Han?"

"No," Ajax panted. "He escaped, but I have his phone. He can't call him yet. He's likely heading straight to Xero Enterprises to report in person."

"I'm already on my way there to find Felix," Gabriella said, her voice shaking but stern. "Describe him. I'll stop him before he steps foot in that building."

Ajax quickly messaged the spy's features—a tall man with a jagged scar on his left hand. "I'm coming too," Ajax added, revving his motorbike engine. "Don't do anything reckless, Gabriella!"

----------

The moon was high over the Xero Enterprises skyscraper, but the building felt like a graveyard. Inside the penthouse office, the air was cold and sharp. Han sat behind his desk, looking like a king on a crumbling throne, dressed in a midnight-blue silk suit. Opposite him was Jake, his face shadowed and weary.

The Broken Alliance

The silence was broken by Jake's phone. It was Elizabeth.

"Where are you?" her voice came through, filled with worry. "I heard your car broke down. Shall I pick you up?"

"No, I'll take a cab," Jake said softly.

"Tell me where you are! If I'm nearby, I'm coming," she insisted with a bossy sort of affection. "Don't you dare get a cab."

Jake smiled—a rare, genuine look. "Fine. I'm at Han's office."

Han watched him, a mocking glint in his eyes. "When did you two get so close?"

"We're getting married, Han," Jake replied coolly. "It's how couples act. Now, get to the point. Why am I here?"

Han leaned back, spinning a silver pen. "I saw you at the hospital, Jake. You wanted to hit Felix too, didn't you?" Jake admitted it with a sharp nod. "Felix is our common enemy," Han's voice darkened. "He destroyed my father's empire and yours too. And I know he killed your father."

Jake's gaze was unwavering. "Don't involve me in this. I was furious, yes. but my father wasn't innocent. He started this revenge cycle years ago by destroying Felix's family. He ended up the way he did because of his own choices. I'm out."

Han's face twisted into a mask of fury. "You don't want to destroy him?"

"If that's all," Jake said, standing up, "I'm leaving."

--------

The Father's Secret

As Jake walked away, Han's secretary rushed in, breathless, handing him a gold pendrive. "Lawyer Victor said to give this to you immediately."

Han plugged it in. A grainy video appeared. It was Richardson, Han's father, recorded secretly in his jail cell.

"I know my family is angry," Richardson's voice was tired. "I did illegal things, but I did them for us."

Han scoffed, biting his lip in anger. "Us? You ruined everything."

"Don't worry," the video continued. "I won't leave you penniless. The government thinks they seized everything, but they missed the real prize. I secured millions in cash and assets in your name, Han. It's all hidden in the Xero stationary room, inside a secret locker I built." Richardson smiled weakly before the screen went black.

A strange warmth flooded Han's chest. The father he thought was a heartless jerk had actually looked out for him. He stood up to find the locker—but then, his phone buzzed.

"I have a surprise for you," Felix's voice crackled over the line, dripping with ice-cold satisfaction.

Suddenly, the fire alarm began a deafening scream.

"Do you like my fireworks?" Felix laughed.

Han's face turned red with fury. "Felix! You monster!"

"You burned my warehouse," Felix said, his voice dropping to a deadly whisper. "So I set fire to your office... while you're still inside. You didn't even notice the gasoline, did you?"

Han's eyes went wide with shock. "FELIX!" he roared, lunging for the door as smoke began to pour under the frame.

Down on the street, Gabriella pulled up to the building. When she saw the orange glow of flames licking the top floors, her heart stopped. "Felix, no..." she whispered, her face pale with panic. Thinking Felix might be caught in his own trap, she didn't hesitate. She threw her car door open and ran straight into the burning lobby.

From a building across the street, Felix stood on a balcony, watching the Xero tower burn with a triumphant smirk. But then, he saw a familiar figure in a white coat dash into the flames.

His smile vanished instantly. His blood turned to ice.

"Oh no... Gabriella! NO!"

Felix dropped his binoculars and sprinted toward the burning building.

-----------

The air inside Xero Enterprises was a nightmare of thick, black smoke and orange embers. The Stationary Room—usually a quiet place of paper and pens—was now the heart of a furnace. Towering shelves of old files were turning into pillars of fire, and the heat was so intense it felt like the walls were breathing.

The Price of Greed

Han reached the staircase, his midnight-blue suit singed and covered in soot. His eyes were wide with a desperate, manic hunger. "No... not the files," he whispered. He sprinted toward the Stationary Room, ignoring the crumbling ceiling. He didn't care about his life; he only cared about the secret locker containing his father's hidden millions.

Jake, seeing the flames, had doubled back to save Han. He found him at the entrance of the burning room. "Han! Stop! Do you want to die?" Jake yelled, grabbing his arm.

"Leave me, Jake!" Han roared, his face twisted in fury. In a moment of blind madness, Han shoved Jake with all his strength.

Jake stumbled back, falling through the smoke. He landed hard on a jagged, red-hot iron rod that had fallen from the ceiling. His eyes widened in agonizing shock; he was pinned, unable to move. Han froze, his chest heaving, realization hitting him like a physical blow. He had just traded his friend's life for a pile of paper.

Han wasn't the only one watching. Elizabeth had followed Jake, her soft floral dress now torn and stained by the soot. She stood at the doorway, witnessing Han push the man she loved into the jaws of death. Her face went from shock to a cold, terrifying fury.

Before Han could even take a step toward Jake, he felt a sharp, icy sting in his stomach. He gasped, looking down to see a broken glass bottle protruding from his midsection. Behind him stood Elizabeth, her hand gripping the glass, her eyes burning brighter than the fire.

At that exact moment, the Spy burst through the fire, screaming over the roar of the flames. "Han! Elizabeth Tyson is the child! She is Kevin's real sister!"

Gabriella and Ajax arrived seconds later, their faces pale with horror. The truth echoed through the burning room: Elizabeth, the girl Han wanted to find and kill, was the one currently ending his life.

Elizabeth didn't care about her identity. She only saw the man who hurt her Jake. With a scream of rage, she shoved Han backward.

In slow motion, Han fell. His eyes met Elizabeth's one last time. As the world turned to fire around him, the smoke played a trick on his mind. For a split second, he didn't see Elizabeth—he saw Kevin standing there, looking at him with pity. Then, the image shifted back to Elizabeth's furious face.

A single tear tracked through the soot on Han's cheek. He realized the ultimate irony: he was dying at the hands of the very person he had spent his life trying to destroy. Han vanished into the heart of the fire.

-----------

The night air near the skeletal remains of Xero Enterprises was thick with the smell of wet ash and heavy fog. The fire services were finally winning the battle against the flames, but the smoke still clung to the ground like a shroud.

The Ruins of a Dynasty

Through the haze, the blue and red lights of an ambulance flickered. Jake was being loaded onto a stretcher, The atmosphere was suffocating as the paramedics hurried toward the waiting ambulance. The strobe lights of the emergency vehicles cut through the thick fog, painting the scene in rhythmic flashes of blue and red.

The Final Goodbye

As the police led Elizabeth toward the patrol car, she suddenly twisted her body, breaking free from their grip for one desperate second. Her head snapped toward the ambulance, and her eyes landed on the stretcher.

"Jake!" she shrieked, her voice echoing off the charred walls of the nearby buildings.

She ran toward him, her floral dress trailing through the soot and ash. She reached the stretcher just as the medics were about to lift it inside. Her hands, stained with the darkness of the night, gripped Jake's cold, trembling hand with a strength born of pure agony.

"Jake, stay with me! Please, don't leave me!" she sobbed, her tears washing white tracks through the grime on her face.

Jake's eyes flickered open, his vision blurry and fading. He looked up at her, his chest heaving with effort. A single, heavy tear escaped the corner of his eye and disappeared into his hairline. He tried to squeeze her hand back, but his strength was gone.

As the paramedics pushed the stretcher forward, their hands were forced apart. Elizabeth's fingers brushed against his one last time before the gap widened.

"No! Jake!"

The police reached her, grabbing her arms and pulling her back. She struggled, her eyes locked on the closing doors of the ambulance until she was forced to turn away. The heavy metallic clink of the handcuffs sounded like a final judgment.

Elizabeth closed her eyes tight, her head falling back as a fresh wave of tears spilled over. She was a queen without a kingdom, a sister without a brother, and now, a lover without a hand to hold.

-----------

Gabriella stood watching, her heart feeling like lead. She wore a simple, pale cotton dress, looking fragile against the backdrop of destruction. Beside her stood Felix, looking like a dark guardian in his black oversized hoodie.

As she watched the chaos, her mind spiraled back to where it all began: Brighton Wisdom Academy. She remembered the "Silver Storm"—the elite heirs who ruled the school with cruelty. They had bullied her when she was just a nobody. Back then, only Han had been her friend. But everything changed when Raina and her clique—Annitta, Harrie, and Erica—destroyed Andria that's old Gabriella.

After a secret facial surgery, she had returned with a new face and a new name: Gabriella. She had found a loving father and a cousin in Han... until the war started. She found out Raina killed her friend Kevin, and the girl she wanted to tear into pieces turned out to be her own biological sister. And finally, she discovered her own true name: Scarlet.

"I didn't win, Felix," she whispered, her vision blurring with tears. "I lost this battle. One by one, I've lost everyone I ever loved."

Felix placed a firm hand on her shoulder, pulling her head to rest against him. But his secret agent instincts suddenly screamed.

Felix spun around just in time to grab a wrist mid-air. A blade gleamed in the moonlight. The person holding the knife was Bianca, the elite business tycoon and Raina's mother. Her eyes were bloodshot, glowing with a terrifying vengeance.

"Why?" Bianca roared, her voice a jagged blade of grief. "Why did you take my daughter's life?"

"Aunty, stop!" Felix shouted, his hand bleeding as he gripped the sharp edge of the knife to protect Gabriella. He shoved her back, but Bianca didn't fall. She stood her ground, trembling with an animalistic fury.

"I only had her in this world!" Bianca screamed, her voice breaking. "My husband abandoned me, my younger daughter was lost... I did everything for Raina! As a mother, what did I do wrong? How dare you kill her!"

She rushed forward again, the knife raised high, but a hand suddenly gripped her shoulder and threw the weapon into the darkness. It was Victor.

"How could you kill your own daughter, Bianca?" Victor shouted, his voice cracking with emotion.

Bianca froze, her face slowly turning toward him. "What... what are you saying?"

"She is our Scarlet," Victor sobbed, pointing at Gabriella. "She is the daughter we lost twenty years ago. The one we thought was gone forever."

The world went silent. Felix froze in shock. Bianca gazed at Gabriella, her breath coming in ragged gasps. She walked closer, her eyes searching Gabriella's face. Felix moved to block her, but Gabriella stayed still, letting the woman approach.

Bianca leaned in and whispered like a horror movie villain, "You should have stayed lost forever. Why did you come back?"

Gabriella's heart shattered. Her own mother wished she had stayed dead. Bianca turned away, her legs giving out as she fell to the ground, sobbing in agony. Victor rushed to her, pulling her into a heartbroken hug.

"She's right," Gabriella whispered, her voice hollow. "If I hadn't come back, I wouldn't have hurt both families. Because of me, my real mother is in pain, and my adopted mother, Roselette, is suffering."

Felix cupped her cheeks, forcing her to look at him. "No, Gabriella. If you hadn't come back, Roselette aunty could never have find happiness in her life after she lost her own daughter and we could never found justice for Kevin and Lara. And I..." He wiped her tears with his thumb. "I never would have found my happiness again. You are my life."

Gabriella smiled through the pain and pulled him into a desperate hug. In the wreckage of their lives, they were all they had left. Life is a twisted path—a cycle of revenge that turns enemies into lovers and siblings into ghosts.
