Chapter 71: Battle with Xiao Huo, Spirit Armor Breaks the Brahma Sky!
The sudden surge in strength left Ye Ling pleasantly surprised.
Wonderful! Truly wonderful!
However, at that very moment, he sensed a strange aura coming from the mouth of the nearby cave.
A massive undead creature stood there, gazing at Ye Ling with curiosity. Its eyes were fixed intently on the Angelic Holy Sword in his hand, as though it were beholding a priceless treasure.
"Is that a divine weapon?" The newcomer was none other than Xiao Huo's manifested avatar. At this moment, he looked at Ye Ling's position with curiosity, wanting to understand the situation before him.
When he first emerged, it had been to locate the source of the elemental tide—but upon arriving, he found that the phenomenon had already vanished, leaving behind only this cavern. Xiao Huo stepped inside, only to see a knight advancing to the Fifth Rank, brandishing his radiant sword.
With his sharp insight, Xiao Huo instantly recognized that the Angelic Holy Sword in Ye Ling's grasp was no ordinary blade. Its origin carried the aura of a divine weapon—its growth potential immense and unmistakable.
That was precisely why Xiao Huo chose to appear.
Yet the instant he revealed himself, Ye Ling's vigilance spiked.
"How can an undead creature exist within the Sacred Mountain of Knights?"
"How strange. Has the Sacred Mountain been invaded? Impossible. By all logic, the Sacred Mountain should be humanity's final line of defense—there's no way it could fall so easily, especially at this time!" Ye Ling muttered to himself.
Still, when faced with an undead intruder—especially one that appeared uninvited—Ye Ling's instinct was always to strike first. He wouldn't kill outright, but he would test the situation through combat.
In an instant, he charged toward Xiao Huo, the Angelic Holy Sword in his hand flaring with power as he swung it down fiercely.
Xiao Huo clearly hadn't expected such a sudden assault. Startled, he stepped back, regaining balance as he looked at Ye Ling in puzzlement. Yet he didn't hesitate—he was also curious to see how strong this young opponent truly was.
Coincidentally, this avatar possessed Fifth-Rank strength as well, making it a perfect opportunity to test his abilities.
With that thought, he reached into the void and drew two blades—clearly the dual-sword style of a Retribution Knight.
Seeing this, Ye Ling couldn't help but wonder in amusement. "There's such a thing as an undead Retribution Knight?"
Still, he wasted no time. Tightening his grip on the Angelic Holy Sword, he rushed straight toward Xiao Huo once more.
Their blades clashed fiercely, ringing out with sharp, resounding echoes that reverberated through the cave.
As the duel continued, Ye Ling quickly realized that this undead's combat experience far surpassed his own. However, his physical strength and the divine might of the Child of Light allowed him to suppress Xiao Huo's power—an overwhelming advantage that bordered on dimensional suppression.
Even so, neither could gain the upper hand.
But for now, Ye Ling had already found the key to victory.
During the battle, Xiao Huo had initially been calm, but as the clash dragged on, his eyes widened in disbelief. He looked at Ye Ling with astonishment, unsure what to say.
"Is this really a knight?"
"And not some kind of humanoid monster?"
"This external energy… his body… how terrifying can it be?"
"He's far beyond an ordinary Fifth-Rank Knight. I can't see through his true strength, but judging from his external energy alone, he's at least at the Seventh Rank!" Xiao Huo was at a loss for words.
Yet he had no intention of continuing the fight.
A meaningless battle would only lead to needless sacrifice.
Thinking so, Xiao Huo took a step back. His twin blades gleamed with a vast, terrifying aura, and then—an eye appeared in the air, staring directly at Ye Ling.
In an instant, Ye Ling felt an overwhelming pressure pressing down upon him, as though intending to crush him entirely.
That was no ordinary attack—it was one from a higher realm of power.
"This move… feels rather familiar," Ye Ling murmured. He didn't hesitate; at once, he activated his martial soul, the Six-Winged Angel, summoning the Spirit Armor infused with the Light of the Seraphim.
Single Word Battle Armor—Light!
The moment Ye Ling summoned it, the radiant armor enveloped him, and an immense aura of divine light burst forth.
With the amplification effect, Ye Ling's power instantly rose to the Sixth Rank. If one included his external energy without amplification, the overall strength he now released was astonishing.
This power directly dispelled the effect of the Brahma Eye.
Xiao Huo was utterly stunned.
What kind of absurd move was this? My Brahma Eye… broken just like that?
And that armor—what in the world is it?
Judging by its brilliance and defensive quality, it was in no way inferior to those so-called mithril or fine-gold battle armors!
"What kind of armor is that?" Xiao Huo asked, utterly bewildered.
But the only answer he received was Ye Ling's sword.
"What does it matter to you?" Ye Ling shouted, slashing forward once again.
"I am Xiao Huo, First Hall Master of the Knight's Sanctuary. As a knight yourself, your uniqueness naturally concerns me," Xiao Huo replied earnestly, his tone tinged with helplessness.
He then released a strand of harmless spirit energy, carrying fragments of memory. Ye Ling saw within them the image of Xiao Huo commanding his forces on the front lines, fighting valiantly against the demon race.
He saw him pushing through opposition to create the Five Divine Seal Thrones.
And finally, he saw Xiao Huo perish gloriously in battle against the demons.
"So it really is Xiao Huo… Then that move with the eye must have been the first of the Three Brahma Techniques—the Eye of Brahma!"
"No wonder it carried such oppressive power. Truly remarkable."
Ye Ling murmured to himself. He recalled this clearly.
The greatest purpose of the Sacred Mountain of Knights wasn't merely to help younger knights find their mounts—that was only a secondary function.
Its true purpose…
Was to serve as the Seal Chamber.
Yes, the Seal Chamber—created six thousand years ago, after the fall of the first generation of human heroes. Through necromancy, their souls were preserved and nurtured within it.
The Sacred Mountain of Knights existed to stabilize the Seal Chamber, hence its divine form.
And Xiao Huo was the leader of those very heroes—the First Hall Master of the Knight's Sanctuary and the first Supreme Lord of the Sanctuary Alliance!
After piecing everything together, Ye Ling finally understood who stood before him.
Placing his right hand over his chest solemnly, he declared, "Junior Ye Ling of the Knight's Sanctuary pays respect to Hall Master Xiao Huo!"
