Chapter 114 - An Absolute Gap in Strength

Boom!

Violent magic power erupted in an instant.

From the moment Ur stepped into the Hogria Mountain Range, he had already slain an unknown number of dark guild lackeys along the way. His magic power had skyrocketed to nearly eight hundred points. When such vast magic burst forth all at once, it wasn't just this battlefield; even people far away felt it and were left utterly shaken.

The moment the magic power burst forth, Leo immediately moved to shield Karen, whose face had already gone deathly white.

Obra wanted to retreat, too. He could vaguely sense that the source of this terrifying magic power was aimed directly at him. Unfortunately, even though he felt Ur's killing intent, he had no way to evade Ur's attack.

Slash!

A flash of blade light streaked past, and a massive wound appeared across Obra's torso, nearly cutting him in two. Yet strangely enough, not a single drop of blood flowed from the gash.

"Natsu, fall back. Leave the rest to me," Ur said coolly after injuring Obra with a single strike. Without waiting for Natsu's response, his figure flickered several times, and in an instant, he was right back in front of Obra.

Obra's heart was pounding wildly. This enemy, who had appeared out of nowhere, was far stronger than the boy from before. Whether it was the sheer magical power he displayed or the ferocity and precision of his attacks, everything about him was on a completely different level.

If this body were capable of sweating, Obra felt he would already be drenched.

"Magic Erasure!"

Facing the Dark Dragon Fang about to cleave into him, Obra instantly activated his erasure magic, wiping away the magic power coating the blade.

But at that exact moment, Ur moved as well. His free hand suddenly opened, a crimson magic circle blooming into existence. In the blink of an eye, a gigantic fireball nearly two meters in diameter formed in his palm and slammed straight down toward Obra.

Boom!

The massive fireball struck Obra head-on, blasting him away in an explosion.

Ur immediately followed up. Magic surged through the Dark Dragon Fang, and with a sharp slash, he carved another bone-deep wound into Obra's chest.

Obra panicked now. He was no match for this monster. If the fight continued, he would very likely die here.

Although his magic came from the great dark mage Zeref, his own strength was insufficient. His use of that magic had clear limits, and more importantly, it wasn't without weaknesses.

Many factors determined victory or defeat in a battle between mages, but the most crucial one was undoubtedly the difference in magic power.

If the gap in magic power was small, it might be possible to make up for it with strange spells, combat techniques, or traps. But once the disparity reached a certain level, all such methods became meaningless.

Because that was an absolute gap in strength, something no tricks could compensate for. And right now, that was the situation Obra was facing.

Obra's erasure magic could only target one thing at a time. Under normal circumstances, it was far more effective when used in coordination with others. In solo combat, its effectiveness dropped sharply.

Simply because he himself lacked sufficient offensive means.

That wasn't all.

Obra's understanding of magic wasn't particularly profound. When casting spells, there was always a brief interval between activations. Against Natsu, this delay hadn't been an issue—but against this monster, it was a fatal flaw.

Slash!

Ur didn't give Obra much time to think. He had never been the type to waste words in battle.

The Dark Dragon Fang was far sharper than the cheap sword Ur had used before. Combined with Ur's passive Way of the Wanderer, the blade seemed to come alive in his hands, leaving Obra with no room to resist.

Obra was utterly miserable.

It wasn't like he'd never seen a magic swordsman before, but someone like Ur was a first.

Most so-called magic swordsman focused primarily on magic, despite their title. But this man's swordsmanship alone was already on par with that of a mercenary guild swordsman who specialized purely in blade techniques.

If he could still speak, Obra would have cursed Ur out loud.

"Are you even a mage anymore?!"

Slash!

After barely dodging more than ten of Ur's strikes, Obra finally couldn't evade in time. Ur seized the opening and severed one of his arms outright.

Obra's heart nearly leapt out of his chest.

This was it.

He had to run—right now. If he didn't escape immediately, he never would.

This guy was a complete monster. Overwhelming magic power, terrifying swordsmanship—and most absurd of all, his physical strength was freakishly high. During the fight, Obra had taken just one careless kick, and it had shattered his entire spine.

If this body weren't a borrowed one, he'd already be dead.

Having made up his mind, Obra began fighting as he retreated, inching his way toward a nearby patch of bushes.

Suddenly, his body went limp like a rag doll, collapsing unnaturally. In the next instant, a black shadow, no bigger than a dog, shot out and darted straight into the bushes.

Just as the small shadow vanished into the undergrowth, a flash of cold light streaked through the air, instantly pinning the shadow to the ground, unable to move.
