Why the hell am I not in the Dark Guild?
For the first time since crossing over, Ur had this thought in his mind.
If he were part of the Dark Guild, all he'd need to do was point his blade forward, and the matter of "dividing the spoils" would be resolved in an instant. No disputes. No quarrels. Just simple, effortless control.
Instead, here he was. Blade raised, while Ichiya and the others, though visibly shivering, stubbornly refused to yield an inch.
[╯^╰ Hmph!]
This lot… they only knew how to bully the good guy.
"We, the Blue Pegasus, need a ton of dragon blood. As for the treasure, we're willing to compromise~~man!" Ichiya declared.
"Impossible!"
The words barely left his mouth before being interrupted. The Elephant King's face turned red as he craned his neck to shout, "Dragons haven't appeared in centuries! Even a sub-dragon isn't something ordinary mortals can compare to!"
Ichiya. Elephant King. Elia.
The three represented the major factions. And at this moment, they were at each other's throats, spitting arguments and flying saliva.
Before gold and glory, none of them, whether the carefree Ichiya, the muscle-bound Elephant King, or the polite and elegant Elia, retained any trace of their former persona. Greed consumed them completely.
Ur, on the other hand, remained silent.
Not because he didn't want to participate, but because his share had been decided from the start.
50%.
Half of everything. All to him.
By any fair measure, it was a reasonable split. After all, everyone else had contributed to the fight. Ur alone could not have defeated Hitsuya.
What stung him slightly was that he wasn't in the Dark Guild.
Everyone else: "…Huh?"
Suddenly, a chill seemed to pass through the air.
Aside from Ur, Natsu also refrained from the dispute. First, because he was still young and naive, he hadn't yet grasped the idea that "the child who cries gets fed." Second, because he had little interest in material wealth.
Even so, he wouldn't end up at a serious loss. Everyone had witnessed his contributions firsthand. These were all official guild mages, after all; no one would sacrifice their guild's reputation for mere profit.
That was one of the perks of being in a proper guild.
Of course, what was a perk for Natsu… was less so for Ur.
This scramble also gave Ur insight into just how wealthy the major guilds were. The spoils of this battle came from two main sources: one, the treasure left behind by the powerful mage; two, Hitsuya's drake corpse.
The treasure itself was nothing to scoff at: two small wooden chests filled with gold coins and gemstones.
Alongside it lay various magical scrolls, research documents, and a modest quantity of magical materials.
It was an immense fortune. Anyone who obtained it could immediately become a famous, wealthy figure across the continent, enjoying a lifetime of luxury.
But when the treasure was laid before them, neither Elia nor Elephant King even glanced at it. Their attention was entirely focused on Hitsuya's dragon corpse.
Clearly, to them, a dragon, even a drake, was far more valuable than gold or gems. What's more, when bargaining over the materials, they instinctively used the treasure to trade for components from Hitsuya's body, speaking as though the coins and gems were worthless scraps.
Ur's hands itched to draw his blade.
Money? Big deal!
The argument dragged on for hours.
By the time the sun had climbed high into the sky, the group finally resolved.
As for the treasure, Ur claimed seventy percent. He had sacrificed part of the dragon's corpse materials to secure it. While dragon components were objectively more precious than shiny trinkets, Ur had a taste for this sort of vulgar, glittering wealth.
Natsu took ten percent, having refrained from the dispute. The remaining twenty percent was split among the others.
Since Natsu hadn't argued, he didn't suffer much loss, and he didn't care anyway.
The magical materials in the treasure were few, but Ur selected two types: Mithril and Adamantine.
Both were rare despite being relatively common. One improved magical conductivity; the other enhanced the hardness and sharpness of weapons. Ur's pieces were fist-sized—truly rare finds.
Others had cast glances at these materials, but when Ur casually drew the Dark Dragon Fang, any thoughts of contesting him vanished.
The remaining scrolls and research notes were straightforward: replicated several times, every member received a copy.
The deceased mage had been a master of wind magic, his pride the spell Destruction Storm, a super-advanced spell. Its strongest technique was the very move Shitguya had unleashed.
As a drake, Hitsuya hadn't fully mastered the spell's potential. While the scrolls were valuable, magic's worth depended on the practitioner. Even the most powerful spell meant nothing if no one could wield it. Without an A-Class or higher magical aptitude, learning a super-advanced spell was a fool's dream.
Dividing the treasure was quick. Everyone appeared generous, ignoring small, trivial items. But once they began partitioning Hitsuya's corpse, the atmosphere turned serious.
"Then, let's proceed according to our previous agreement!" Ur announced.
He was perhaps the most relaxed person in the group.
The others nodded, and one said, "Alright. Then let's start carving up the corpse."
Segmenting a dragon corpse was no small task. Any miscalculation could result in immense loss.
Therefore, before the process began, they first revived Karen, who had fainted in fear, and had her summon a Celestial Spirit capable of precise measurement.
Only after all preparations were complete did they begin dividing Hitsuya's remains.
