P19 — Gladiatorial Arena, Bay 13
Third Person POV
Throughout the massive arena, thousands of people had gathered once again for another day of gladiatorial combat. The enormous stadium buzzed with excitement as contestants climbed into BattleMechs that had long since become outdated by Clan Wolverine military standards. While these machines no longer had a place on the modern battlefield, they remained more than capable of putting on spectacular shows inside the arena.
People from every corner of P19 gathered whenever a new event was announced, happily spending their hard-earned Star Bills to watch the matches unfold. The fighters themselves rented the BattleMechs from the arena, paying an entry fee for the opportunity to compete. Every victory earned prize money, while long winning streaks brought larger rewards, sponsorships, and growing fame among the people of Clan Wolverine.
The crowd roared with excitement as the next match prepared to begin.
Today's featured event was a four-way battle royale.
Four aging Locust BattleMechs stood inside their starting gates, each armed with reinforced steel swords and large combat shields. Unlike military exercises, every arena event was different. The organizers rarely repeated the same competition twice in a row, forcing contestants to constantly adapt.
Last week's event had featured a dozen medium BattleMechs competing in a brutal game of Verve Ball, Clan Wolverine's far rougher version of basketball where knocking your opponents onto the ground was often just as effective as scoring points.
The week before that had been a massive game of Capture the Flag, transforming the arena into a maze of walls, barricades, and elevated platforms.
No one ever knew what the following week's event would be.
That uncertainty made every match exciting.
Spectators eagerly placed wagers with one another, arguing over which pilot would emerge victorious before the opening siren even sounded.
The towering stadium echoed with cheers as countless citizens watched the spectacle unfolding below, enjoying the blood sport that had become one of P19's most popular forms of entertainment.
Only moments later, another match reached its conclusion.
Two battered Commando BattleMechs had been dueling for several minutes, each machine scarred with fresh dents and deep gouges from repeated strikes. The Commando on the right suddenly slipped past its opponent's guard before driving its combat knife into the vulnerable side of the enemy machine.
Hydraulic fluid burst from the damaged joint.
The opposing Commando staggered before collapsing onto the arena floor with a tremendous crash.
The audience erupted into thunderous applause.

Commerce and Supplies Hub 11
The streets of Hub Eleven remained as busy as ever.
People moved from one store to another carrying bags filled with newly purchased goods while merchants proudly displayed the latest products available on the civilian market. Families browsed countless storefronts while others spent their savings on luxury items, with hovercars becoming an increasingly common purchase for those with enough Star Bills to afford them.
One man approached an electronics counter where a clerk carefully demonstrated the operation of an Omni-tool before handing it over.
The customer eagerly listened, experimenting with the holographic interface as he learned the basics of the remarkable device.
Not far behind him, two individuals dressed entirely in black quietly followed at a respectful distance.
Neither spoke.
Neither interfered.
Their responsibility was simply to protect the man while ensuring he remained within the areas approved for his visit.
That man was Anton Marik.
Now an honored guest within Clan Wolverine territory and no longer a slave, Anton had spent the last eight months undergoing Wolverine genetic therapy and physical rehabilitation. Every time he looked into a mirror, he still found himself staring in disbelief. Gone was the frail appearance of a sixty-year-old man broken by years of abuse.
Instead…
He looked as though he had returned to his mid-twenties.
Months of exercise had rebuilt his body, while advanced medical treatment had erased injuries that once seemed permanent.
As he continued exploring Hub Eleven, Anton carefully studied every piece of technology he was permitted to examine.
He was no fool.
The fact that Clan Wolverine willingly allowed him access to civilian technology like the Omni-tool, while politely restricting only military equipment and classified information, spoke volumes about the confidence these people had in their own society.
He had even attended one of the gladiatorial matches earlier that day.
Surprisingly…
He had found himself genuinely enjoying the spectacle.
Over the past several months he had also spent countless hours studying the history Clan Wolverine had chosen to share with him. Naturally, some records remained blacklisted from his access, but many others had been freely available.
the Star League Defense Force, Anton had always believed that one day the Exodus Fleet would return and restore the Star League.
Instead…
He learned the truth about the Clans.
Everything he had been allowed to read painted a picture that left him deeply disappointed with what had become of Aleksandr Kerensky's dream.

DeGrassi Field
A simple picnic blanket rested beneath the shade of a large tree.
Silas sat on one side.
Vanessa sat on the other.
The peaceful afternoon offered a welcome escape from endless meetings, military reports, and administrative work.
Following the fleet's successful return from Operation Snatcher, Vanessa had finally found the courage to confess how she truly felt.
Silas had listened carefully before giving his answer.
Rather than rushing into a relationship, he suggested they take things slowly.
Over the past several months they had gone on numerous dates, sharing meals together, walking through the parks of P19, attending public events, and simply spending time getting to know one another.
Little by little…
Their relationship had grown naturally.
It was something both of them genuinely appreciated.
There had also been one rather amusing consequence.
Silas had stopped overworking himself quite as much.
Much to Athena's overwhelming satisfaction.

Training Ground 11
Leonard was exhausted.
He was angry.
And above all else…
He was absolutely fucking terrified.
Ever since his capture and subsequent designation as a bondsman, his life had become a living nightmare. He still wasn't entirely sure what being a bondsman actually meant, but he knew one thing with absolute certainty.
The woman responsible for training him was completely insane.
Normally, he would have simply called her a bitch.
Unfortunately…
He was fairly certain she would shoot him if he actually said it out loud.
Leonard sprinted across the obstacle course with every ounce of strength his aching body could muster while a machine unlike anything he had ever seen pursued him relentlessly from behind.
Inside the towering HRUNTING Mark I, Tanya calmly kept pace with him.
Every few seconds she fired another foam training round.
The ammunition had been thoroughly tested.
It was completely safe.
It also hurt like an absolute bitch.
Tanya: Move faster! Once you complete this course, we're moving on to firearm exercises! Move it, you fucking maggot!
Another foam round struck Leonard squarely between the shoulder blades.
Leonard cried out before forcing himself to run even faster.
Every muscle in his body screamed in protest.
Every breath burned.
Every instinct begged him to collapse onto the ground.
More than once, Leonard had honestly prayed for death.
This wasn't living.
This was hell.
And yet…
He was far too terrified to actually give up.
Some irrational part of his mind had become convinced that if he somehow managed to die, Tanya would personally drag his soul back from hell itself just so she could continue putting him through these ridiculous training exercises.
Grinding his teeth together, Leonard forced his exhausted legs to keep moving.
One thought echoed through his mind over and over again.
One day…
One day I'm going to make that crazy bitch pay for all of this.
