Chapter 113 - Chapter 113 Where is that laboratory?

"Thank you so much," Kaisen said, slumping onto the sofa, filled with a sense of defeat.

"Hmm, as long as the culprit you mentioned doesn't have any means of instant movement or isn't performing some mysterious magic ritual in the women's restroom."

"That shouldn't be the case. Hogwarts has Apparition restrictions, and that restroom wasn't abandoned back then. As for ritual magic, he probably wouldn't have… Huh?" Kaisen looked at Sherlock, who had a mysterious smile, somewhat bewildered.

"How the hell do you know that? I remember you were a normal person?"

"About three years ago, I took on a case. You were busy renovating that second prince's place back then."

"I'll tell you the result directly. There's a laboratory called Baskerville that conducts experiments, and the test subjects there are incredibly huge beasts. They call them Werewolves!"

"At that time, a Werewolf escaped from the lab, and the person in charge of the lab asked me to investigate and lead a team to bring that Werewolf back."

Kaisen felt a bit awkward because he remembered Lupin had told him before that Sherlock had tracked him, so it seems…

"So you were ultimately stopped?"

Sherlock shook his head: "Of course not. I found that Werewolf. In a cave, he and I talked for ten minutes. It's worth mentioning that he was in human form at the time. If I hadn't seen him transform into a Werewolf with my own eyes, I really wouldn't have recognized him."

"After talking to him for ten minutes, I decided to let him go, and this case was a rare failure for me, but I was happy with it."

Kaisen tactically pulled out a hip flask from his pocket and took a sip: "So, when did you know about me?"

"From our first meeting. At that time, I asked you to renovate my house. Although you meticulously bought a complete set of building materials and made all those materials disappear after the renovation, I still found clues."

"From then on, I've always wondered what was going on with you. So I started investigating you. Hmm… Orphaned, went to community elementary school and community middle school with social welfare, and then went to Manchester University's Civil Engineering department with investments and scholarships from excellent grades. It all seemed very… logical. And then I met that Werewolf…"

"Honestly, I hate him! I hate that Werewolf. I hadn't even unraveled your secret yet, and that damned Werewolf just spoiled the mystery I hadn't figured out. Damned illogical magic." Sherlock said indignantly.

"Uh… I really am sorry about that," Kaisen said, somewhat awkwardly and sarcastically.

"But you people who play with magic… Do you have math classes in your magic world? They might not have taken them, but you should have taken math classes, so why didn't you react?" Sherlock asked, looking at Kaisen searchingly.

"…What should I have reacted to?"

"From the moment you knocked on the door until just now, I was subtly revealing that I already knew your identity, between the boring revelation of the mystery. I was practically spelling it out."

"Sherlock, how many times do I have to tell you, a normal person's brain isn't like yours."

"From you knocking on the door instead of using the doorbell, I criticized you for not even using a doorbell after leaving technological society, and what I said to you: a normal person wouldn't let a Wizard who uses magic into their home."

"The third thing is those two bottles of wine you gave me. I highly doubt your so-called magic world has industrialized production processes. I'd rather drink the zero-natural, pure-additive blended alcohol you concocted for me than anything you brought back from the magic world."

"Maybe they're still using the process of young girls stomping on grapes."

"And also, I am extremely resistant to cases involving magic, as you describe. For example, I finally solved a Chamber of Secrets murder case relying on deductive intelligence and clues, only for that damned magic to tell me I found the wrong murderer, and the real killer is a Wizard who can teleport! A normal detective wouldn't like magic."

Sherlock said, somewhat agitated.

"Hmm… I can totally understand that. But since you already know about this so-called magic, then I don't need to make another trip to Manchester. I can just ask you for help. When you're at home with no cases and idle, maybe you can play with geometric puzzle-solving or something. After all, I can't stop you from shooting your gun at the wall, but if you shoot at my house… I need to stop you."

Kaisen took out the magic manual and, after spreading it open, the jumbled map of Hogwarts floated out.

"…What is this?" Sherlock said, bewildered.

"…Oh right, you shouldn't be able to see this thing, logically." Kaisen quickly took off the monocle from his eye and handed it to Sherlock.

The latter, after putting it on, could instantly see the diagrams on the magic manual.

When he subconsciously looked up at Kaisen.

"...I can understand humans and magic...What does MC mean?" Sherlock asked.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand that either. I just hope you don't mind these details," Kaisen said slowly.

"...…"

"I really don't know, but perhaps you can think of this as my special talent, like Alchemy. This pair of glasses is my masterpiece. Do you need me to give you one?"

Sherlock shook his head: "No need. Giving me such a cheating little trinket is an insult to the dignity of a great detective who constantly challenges the limits of human intellect."

"Okay, okay, but I really didn't mean that," Kaisen said.

"Yes, you always act and speak without thinking. If it weren't for your inherently kind and gentle nature, unable to say anything unpleasant, you would have been put in a sack and thrown into the Thames countless times by now."

"Heh heh… As if you speak with thought," Kaisen said, rolling his eyes.

"…By the way, let me ask you, that Werewolf you were tracking before, do you know his name?" Kaisen asked.

"His name is Remus Lupin."

Kaisen pinched the bridge of his nose. He had thought before that perhaps Lupin had met Sherlock because of another case, or perhaps Sherlock was only interested in Lupin because he knew Werewolves existed in the world, and that's why he tracked him.

But now, hearing Sherlock's confirmation, Remus really did escape from the laboratory…

"...…Where is that laboratory?"
