Chapter 34 - DTC : Chapter 34

Gudi Moru: The Bubble of Disobedient Reality

If Ayush's trial was precision and Vedant's was discipline,

then Gudi Moru's trial was...wrong.

The Gate tile under her foot didn't flare or hum or whisper.

It hiccupped.

Literally hiccupped.

A tiny bubble popped under her boot and shimmered upward into the air like a confused soap sphere that had just remembered gravity existed and was offended by it.

Gudi grinned.

"Oh, we're gonna have fun."

The corridor pulled her in sideways.

Not forward.

Sideways.

Then upside-down.

Then backward.

Then right-side-up again, except the floor was now the ceiling and the ceiling was a pond with fish swimming above her head.

Gudi clapped her hands, delighted.

"A pocket that forgot what gravity is — adorable!"

The Gate shut behind her like a giggling child slamming a door after a prank.

And the chamber finally revealed itself.

A Place With No Sense… and Too Much Sense

It was nothing like Ayush's sleek corridor or Vedant's flaming forge.

This chamber was chaotic harmony.

Floating staircases led nowhere.

Windows revealed places that were clearly not here.

A wooden door glowed with neon colors.

A stone path dissolved into bubbles as she stepped.

Everything shimmered like a daydream trying to become a room.

The air had texture — soft, stretchy, like marshmallow fog.

Gudi pushed a bubble drifting near her cheek.

It changed color, giggled, and drifted away.

"Yep," she said cheerfully. "This place is already my favorite."

Then the chamber spoke.

Not with a voice.

With laughter.

Dozens of overlapping laughs —

some high, some low, some eerily perfect imitations of her own.

The bubble membranes around her began to react, forming a faint shimmering veil.

Gudi wasn't worried.

Her Bubble Wrap was always happiest around nonsense.

Then the laughter stopped.

And a single phrase echoed through the chamber:

"Show me what you hide."

Trial Begins — Reflection of a Trickster

Illusions blinked awake in front of her.

Gudi expected mirrors.

Instead, she saw… herself.

Not reflections. Versions.

A Gudi who walked like a predator.

A Gudi who looked bored with reality.

A Gudi with eyes too sharp, carrying a bubble sphere you absolutely should not touch.

Each one shimmered, half-real, half-concept.

"Ah," Gudi said softly. "So you want to see which one of me wins."

The chamber clicked, as if approving.

The Gudis stepped forward.

Then they attacked.

Not violently — that would've been too simple.

One flicked a bubble that distorted gravity.

Another twisted light, bending depth.

A third walked through a wall and came out behind her.

Gudi's grin widened.

"Finally," she whispered.

"Someone who knows how to play."

Gudi's Danced in her own rhytm as Bubbles formed around her hands — not random, not chaotic. Concentrated membranes that shimmered with impossible elasticity.

A Gudi doppelganger threw a distorted sphere at her —

a bubble that warped sound and vision.

Gudi popped it with a tap, sending out a ripple that inverted the chamber for a second.

Furniture floated. Stairs curled into spirals.

The pond crashed onto the ceiling.

The chamber reacted like a startled cat.

The fake Gudis paused.

The real one laughed.

"Ohhh, I get it! You're not testing me — you're testing how well I break your rules!"

The chamber trembled.

Not angry.

Nervous.

Gudi blew a bubble.

A single, tiny sphere.

It drifted outward, wobbling like a lazy planet—

Then expanded violently, swallowing two of her illusions whole.

When it popped, they were gone.

The remaining illusions reacted with… fear.

"Aw," Gudi said, tilting her head. "You're learning."

A bubble-spear sliced through another illusion.

One dissolved into glitter.

One turned into a frog and hopped away.

The chamber tried to fight back now —

Walls bent inward.

Gravity twisted.

The fish in the ceiling pond stared at her with accusatory eyes.

Gudi leaned back confidently.

"Try harder~"

She lifted her hands—

A sphere formed.

Not chaos.

Not randomness.

A perfect bubble.

Smooth.

Dense.

Unified.

It hummed.

Her opponents froze.

The chamber froze.

Gudi flicked the bubble upward with one finger.

It rose, slow and steady, until it pressed into the ceiling—

And then it popped.

Everything exploded into silence.

The illusions shattered.

The laughter died.

The chamber's walls folded inward until only a narrow path remained.

A glowing sigil formed at her feet.

The trial was complete.

The Reward — Bubble of Coherence

A small object floated toward her —

a translucent crystal shaped like a droplet.

Inside, tiny bubble membranes drifted and collided, creating miniature ripples of distortion.

Gudi caught it, and her Bubble Wrap reacted immediately — shimmering like it had swallowed starlight.

Her Halo Watch chimed:

[TRIAL NODE COMPLETE — BUBBLE WRAP: ADVANCED DISTORTION UNLOCKED]

A new ability blossomed inside her:

[Coherent Membrane — the power to create a bubble so stable it could bend reality in predictable ways.]

The chamber, still shaking, parted its walls to let her leave.

"Thank you for the playground," she said brightly.

The chamber's floor pulsed once.

Positive?

Negative?

Hard to tell.

Gudi winked at the empty room.

"Don't worry — you did great."

Then she strolled out, humming.
