Chapter 3 - CH - 3 THE FIRST CHANGE AFTER THE NIGHT

After that mysterious night, the next day Ravenshade was looking normal, like nothing had happened the previous night.

The birds were chirping as usual, kids were waiting for their school buses, some people were going to their offices, some people were doing exercise, and some were gathered in the tea shops.

Arin was looking at all this from his bedroom window, like something happened the last night. Arin's mother called Arin from the kitchen; she was calling Arin to have his breakfast. As Arin sat on the chair to have his breakfast, Arin's mother asked, "What happened, Arin? Why are you looking so tired? Did you have good sleep last night?" Arin replied, "Yes, Mom, I was just thinking about yesterday night's white light." Then his mother replied, "Arin, my son, don't think too much about that white light; something like that keeps happening around the world."

Arin, Kabir, Tara, and Mira were very good and close friends.

At school the corridors buzzed with quiet excitement. Every student in the class was talking about the earthquake that they experienced the previous night. A child in the class said, "I experienced the earthquake for the first time in my life." Another friend replied, "Yeah, I also experienced it for the first time. I was going to sleep after completing my homework, but suddenly my water bottle fell from the table. I turned back; I was curious to know if the bottle fell, but after ten to fifteen seconds, I felt like the ground beneath me was shaking."

Arin saw Mira near the notice board; Mira was lost in her phone. Arin went to Mira and asked, "You also saw that, right?" Mira slowly lifted her head up and said, "Yeah, I also saw that white light; for me it was more strange than the earthquake." Arin replied, "Yeah, I have also been living here for years, but nothing like this has happened before."

Kabir and Tara also joined them. Mira and Arin told them what they were talking about. Then Tara told them something that they couldn't easily believe. Tara said, "When the earthquake came, she was with her grandmother, and her grandmother told her that this is not natural." Arin asked, "What does she mean by it was not natural? Earthquakes are natural." Tara said, "I know that earthquakes are natural, but she told me that in one hundred and twenty years, this was the first earthquake that came in our Ravenshade."

Before they could talk more, the school bell rang. By afternoon Ravenshade had returned back to its normal state; no one was talking about the earthquake that came the previous night. Everyone was busy with their work. But there was something strange in the environment; many of the people complained about dizziness and tiredness. The doctor said, "Nothing to worry about; it's just stress. Everyone return back to their home and have some rest. There was even a little bit of hesitation in the doctor's voice too. He thought suddenly, "How can so many people be having the same issue?"

In the evening Arin was returning to his house; as he passed by Mr. Das's house, he saw Mr. Das standing and silent. Arin knew that he was one of the fittest people in the Ravenshade; he never missed his morning and evening walk. Arin went towards Mr. Das and asked, "Uncle, why are you standing like this? Are you alright?" Mr. Das didn't respond to him; he wasn't even looking at him. Arin was confused by the strange behavior of Mr. Das. He again asked, "Mr. Das, are you alright? What happened to you?

He still didn't respond to him. Mr. Das took a step forward, then another; he was walking like someone operating a robot. Mr. Das was moving expressionless; he didn't respond to any of Arin's questions. He simply walked away. The next morning Mr. Das came out of his home for his morning walk. He was behaving normally as usual, but the people were continuously staring at Mr. Das. Questions were going through Mr. Das's mind about why they were staring at him.

Mr. Das stopped near a tea stop and asked the tea seller to give him a cup of tea. The teaseller gave a cup of tea. Mr. Das sat on the bench and started having his tea. While having his tea, he noticed that people were still staring at him; this time he was very frustrated. He asked the person who was standing nearby him, "Why are they all staring at me?" The person first looked at Mr. Das carefully, and when he was sure that everything was normal, he answered, "Don't you know what you did in the last evening?" Mr. Das, after thinking for a few seconds, said, "No, I don't know what I did last evening. Did I do something weird?" The person you were walking like someone was controlling you.

You were behaving strangely; many people greeted you, but you didn't respond to them. After hearing this, Mr. Das was a little bit confused and shocked. He heard someone calling from behind; when he turned back, he saw that Arin and his friends were calling him from the bus stop. Mr. Das went towards Arin and his friends.

He asked Arin and his friends, "Are you guys going to school?" Then Arin and his friends replied, "Yes, Uncle, we are going to our school." Arin asked, "Uncle, in the evening I saw you standing outside your house silently. I also tried to talk to you, but you didn't say anything. After hearing this, Mr. Das was even more confused, but to refuse this, he said, "That's the problem with all kids of today's time; you guys watch horror movies at night, and after that, you start imagining it in real life."

Arin and his friends, after returning from school, were playing badminton in the park, and after some time, they all returned to their homes. In the night Kabir called Arin, Mira, and Tara to his home; he wanted to show something to his friends. When Kabir, Mira, and Tara reached Kabir's house, they asked, "What happened? Why did you call us right now?" Kabir just pointed towards that forest; they all saw that thousands of people in a straight line without making anyone sound were going towards the forest. Tara took her phone from the pocket and started to record it suddenly they all changed the path everyone in the line changed the path like if someone was controlling them. Now the four friends were 100 percent that something was very wrong.
