Chapter 126: Battle against Lorelei (Part 2)
Lorelei frowned at the raging sandstorm and said, "Lapras, Hydro Pump!"
Lapras instantly unleashed a massive Hydro Pump at Aerodactyl. Aerodactyl flapped its wings, rising to a higher altitude and dodging the Hydro Pump's attack. Then, it launched Rock Slide.
A torrent of rocks appeared from above and began to fall. Lapras tried to move to avoid them, dashing forward, but another rock blocked its path. It slowed down to avoid it, only to find that every time it tried to accelerate, another rock would hit it. It couldn't gain any speed at all.
"Hydro Pump, counter it!" Lorelei said, frowning.
Lapras immediately unleashed its Hydro Pump, destroying the rocks. But the next second, Ryan assumed his Z-Move stance, and Aerodactyl was instantly enveloped by Z-Power. Countless rocks converged on Aerodactyl, forming a massive boulder that suddenly plummeted toward Lapras.
Lorelei's eyes widened, and she shouted, "Lapras, Sheer Cold!"
Lapras immediately took a deep breath, absorbing brilliant energy from the surroundings, then fired a powerful beam of absolute zero energy from its mouth at the rock. But aside from freezing a corner of the boulder, it had no effect.
The Continental Crush struck with a violent tremor, destroying the entire ice field and causing the ground to sink nearly a meter. The rock then shattered, dissipating into streams of energy. Lapras lay powerless in the crater, unable to battle.
"Phew," Ryan exhaled. "I had to reveal my trump card so quickly! This is going to be tough!"
Lorelei recalled Lapras and sent out Jynx, saying, "Jynx, Trick Room!"
Ryan was speechless. "That move again!" He had to admit, though, that this move did counter his speed-focused battle style. Ryan gritted his teeth and shouted, "Aerodactyl, Hyper Beam!"
Aerodactyl immediately went into turret mode, firing Hyper Beams at Jynx. While dodging the destructive beams, Jynx sang loudly, emanating waves of dark energy from her mouth, creating a red-black energy field around Aerodactyl while also radiating red-black energy herself.
"Return, Aerodactyl!" Ryan said, attempting to recall Aerodactyl.
"Mean Look!" Lorelei wouldn't let Ryan recall Aerodactyl.
Ryan watched the recall beam bounce back and helplessly called out, "Aerodactyl, defeat it!"
Aerodactyl knew that if it didn't defeat Jynx, both of them would surely fall together from Perish Song. With this thought, Aerodactyl increased the frequency of its Hyper Beams. Unfortunately, within Trick Room, Aerodactyl couldn't keep up with Jynx. Even after Perish Song expired, Aerodactyl couldn't hit the now faster-moving Jynx.
Both Pokémon fell, and Ryan recalled Aerodactyl. He took a deep breath and produced a Master Ball.
Watching Lorelei recall Jynx, Ryan still held the advantage. He had only lost two Pokémon, while Lorelei had lost three, and one of her Weavile was also at low health. His situation was relatively favorable.
They both sent out Pokémon simultaneously: Ryan's was Celebi, and Lorelei's was an Alolan Ninetales. Ryan narrowed his eyes—this Alolan Ninetales must have been the one Ryan had given to Lorelei.
"Hail!"
"Future Sight!"
they both shouted simultaneously. Snowflakes began to fall from the sky, and Celebi launched countless psychic orbs into dimensional rifts. Then, Alolan Ninetales let out a long cry, sending a howling Blizzard hurtling toward Celebi.
Celebi took the Blizzard head-on, then released a handful of seeds at Alolan Ninetales. Following Lorelei's instructions, Alolan Ninetales used Psychic to sweep away all the seeds. The seeds landed and instantly transformed into countless vines from Leech Seed, reaching toward Alolan Ninetales.
"Use Agility to avoid them!" Lorelei commanded.
Alolan Ninetales quickly dodged the vines, but the next second, two psychic spheres launched it toward the vines, where it was subsequently bound by the growing plants. Lorelei thought to herself, "Oh no!" The next second, countless psychic spheres from Future Sight struck Alolan Ninetales, rendering it unable to battle.
"What terrifying Future Sight," Sabrina said nearby.
As an Elite Four member specializing in Psychic-types, and possessing psychic powers herself, she understood the terror of Future Sight better than anyone else. It completely blocks your path, leaving you with no escape.
Especially since Celebi can travel through time, its control over Future Sight is truly formidable.
"Weavile, clear the battlefield!" Lorelei said, recalling Alolan Ninetales and sending out Weavile. As Weavile entered the field, a fierce icy wind swept over the vines, shattering them. Weavile then stared at Celebi's tiny form with a stern gaze.
"Dark Pulse!" Lorelei declared.
A beam of dark, sinister energy blasted toward Celebi. Celebi flapped its wings, dodging the attack. Then, energy shot skyward. The sun drove away the dark clouds, its intense sunlight dispelling the chill from the arena with Sunny Day.
Without Ryan saying a word, Celebi launched a Solar Beam at Weavile. Weavile dodged the Solar Beam and then launched an Ice Beam at Celebi.
A flash of blue light gleamed in Celebi's eyes, and it used Ally Switch. Celebi and Weavile swapped positions, and Weavile was struck by its own Ice Beam. Celebi's Solar Beam followed immediately, instantly defeating the stunned Weavile.
"Phew," Ryan took a deep breath and exhaled: "One more to go!"
"Go, Articuno!" Lorelei said.
Ryan's eyes widened as he glanced at the League officials and the Elite Four members nearby. Blaine shook his head slightly at him and mouthed: "Voluntary capture."
Ryan smiled bitterly and said, "Lorelei, you kept this secret from me. You actually have an Articuno."
"Well, it followed me on its own. I was only able to command it recently," Lorelei patted Articuno's body and said.
Ryan's mind raced, knowing the battle was about to get extremely tough. After all, this Articuno was already a First-Class Legendary Pokémon. With Ryan's current team, none of them could match it one-on-one!
"We'll just have to wear it down bit by bit," Ryan muttered.
"Articuno, Hail!" Lorelei commanded.
Articuno let out a loud cry, dark clouds blocked out the sun, and snowflakes fell. Ryan frowned. "It must have mastered Climate Origin—the ability to control blizzards!"
"Then! Future Sight, Celebi!" Ryan said.
Celebi nodded, knowing that was all it could do, knowing it was no match for Articuno!
"Blizzard!" Lorelei commanded.
Articuno flapped its wings, and a devastating blizzard swept across the field. Ryan clenched his teeth. This feeling was like being back in the snowy mountains. He had been deeply impressed by the mighty natural blizzards, but this Blizzard was no less powerful!
Celebi fired countless psychic orbs into dimensional rifts, a pained expression on its face as it gazed at the howling blizzard. It let out a few soft cries before being engulfed in the storm.
A Master Ball on Ryan's belt shook, sensing Celebi's voice, conveying only one thing: "It's up to you, Mewtwo!"
The blizzard subsided, and Celebi, buried in the snow, had lost its ability to battle.
Ryan recalled Celebi and remained silent.
