"Tch! That Laxus guy! You sure like to show off, huh?"
Seeing Laxus's actions, Moen couldn't help but click his tongue. Magic surged through his body as the sea-blue Equuleus Bronze Cloth instantly appeared on him.
Without hesitation, Moen stomped the ground and leaped high into the air, his fist aimed straight at the airborne Erigor.
That head was his to claim! He couldn't let Laxus snatch it away. This was tied to his mission — there couldn't be any mistakes.
Moen had already made up his mind. If he couldn't beat Laxus to it, then he would use his trump card — burn through the "Royal Demon Rose" and end Erigor once and for all.
Trading a one-time item for a permanent skill — that was absolutely worth it.
"Bastard! Don't underestimate me!"
Facing Moen rushing up toward him, Erigor roared in fury. He extended a hand, magic gushing violently from his palm before turning into a raging magic wind that blasted straight at Moen.
Whirr!
The storm hit him full-force, but Moen's magic power flared to life. The howling wind crashed against his Equuleus Bronze Cloth, yet it failed to leave even a scratch.
However, under that violent gale, Moen's upward momentum was stopped cold, forcing him to land helplessly back on the ground.
He couldn't fly. Against a flying enemy, that was an inherent disadvantage.
And without any ranged attacks, things became even trickier — how was an infantryman supposed to fight an air unit bare-handed?
If the flier knew how to play it right, they could just kite you to death. In a fight like this, flight alone could raise the power gap by at least two whole tiers!
"Go to hell!"
Erigor was utterly enraged. He had only just become the new master of "Eisenwald" and hadn't even begun to spread his ambitions before Fairy Tail came knocking on his door — cutting him down right in the middle of his grand plans!
And to make things worse, they'd sent two kids to humiliate him?
These bastards were going too far!
Did they really think Erigor was made of clay?!
BOOM!!!
Erigor's magic burst out violently. A terrifying tornado erupted at Moen's feet, spiraling upward at incredible speed.
Whirr!
Moen forced his legs downward, trying to steady himself, but the rotating wind tore the ground apart beneath him. Everything around him spun wildly, and Moen couldn't hold his footing. The storm lifted him off the ground and swallowed him whole.
"Seriously, mages who play with elemental magic are the worst!"
Magic exploded from Moen's body. Fortunately, his Cloth protected him — even in this blade-like storm, he remained completely unscathed.
If it had been any ordinary wizard, they'd have been shredded into minced meat by now.
This Erigor was precisely the kind of opponent Moen struggled against — someone who could fly and attack from range, the perfect kiting type.
With layers of magic between them, and if Erigor played carefully, Moen might not even get the chance to touch him. Flight was such a ridiculous advantage; as long as you didn't mess up, you almost couldn't lose.
"I told you to leave him to me, but no — you just had to show off."
Seeing Moen caught in that violent tornado, Laxus had been worried at first. But when he saw Moen was fine inside it, he relaxed, muttering his complaint instead.
He decided to let Moen spin in there a while — maybe it'd teach him a lesson. He'd take care of Erigor himself!
"That's… my opponent!"
Of course, Moen couldn't accept that outcome. Magic flared from within the roaring storm as he threw a furious punch against the swirling current.
"Pegasus Meteor Fist!!!"
The torrent of fist strikes shot upward against the spiral wind. Erigor's storm slowly weakened, forcefully reversed by Moen's blows!
Breaking free from the raging tornado, Moen landed back on the ground. At that moment, faint azure starlight shimmered around his body — pure magic power surging unceasingly through him.
In the sky above, the constellation of Pegasus faintly appeared, its starry glow descending upon the battlefield.
"So what if you can fly?! Pegasus has wings too!"
Staring up at Erigor, Moen felt his blood boil and honestly, after spinning inside that tornado for so long, anyone would lose their temper.
"Pegasus… Meteor Fist!!!"
Moen unleashed his full power right where he stood. Magic surged wildly as the constellation of Pegasus shone even brighter in the sky, its radiant light reflecting down upon him.
In an instant, Moen shot upward into the sky, his fists wrapped in blue light. The barrage of blows roared like a herd of galloping stallions—but this time, those Pegasi had wings!
"Storm Barrier!"
Erigor reacted swiftly as Moen appeared before him in a flash. He gathered his magic and formed a whirling barrier of wind in front of him, trying to block Moen's Pegasus Meteor Fist.
BOOM!
The barrier of storm winds was instantly shattered by the oncoming storm of Pegasus punches. Erigor's eyes widened in shock as he hastily activated his ultimate defensive ability.
A torrent of spiraling wind enveloped his body, wrapping tightly around him like a cloak.
This "Storm Mail" was Erigor's special countermeasure against close-range combat. Any magic that struck this cloak would instantly be dispersed—the inward-outward spinning vortex of wind could repel all melee attacks!
BOOM!
Moen's storm of punches crashed onto Erigor's body, colliding against the rapidly rotating Storm Mail. The blue light around Moen's fists slowly began to fade as the wind dispersed his magic energy.
Even so, Erigor's body was blasted backward, smashing straight into the guild hall's ceiling.
CRACK!
Moen landed back on the ground, his Bronze Cloth boots crushing the already battered floor beneath him.
"Using reversed wind flow to absorb impact and disperse magic—" Moen said calmly, raising his head, "I'll admit, your mechanism's clever. But it's still far from enough."
Moen once again raised his fists, both of them clad in the gleaming gauntlets of his Equuleus Cloth.
"Your mechanics might be impressive—but my stats are higher!"
Swinging both arms, he traced the complete constellation of Pegasus in the air. The stars above flared in response, their radiance pouring down over him. Moen's entire body shone with pure blue starlight.
"Pegasus Meteor Fist!!!"
On the ceiling, Erigor, who had just pulled himself free, completely snapped.
"Damn you! Aaaagh—DIE!!!"
"Emera Baram!"
Erigor roared, his index and middle fingers crossed before him as he released his strongest spell. To his credit, the mechanism of his Storm Mail truly was remarkable—though blood trickled from the corner of his mouth and his insides churned in agony, he still hadn't lost the will to fight.
Two violent spiraling winds, like a pair of massive drills, twisted together and charged toward Moen, who was surging upward surrounded by blue starlight.
But in just a single instant, Moen's figure broke through the raging wind. The spectral image of Pegasus soared skyward, piercing straight through Erigor's body.
BOOM!
Erigor's body crashed to the ground like a falling aircraft.
