Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Buying Your Singing Voice

Laxus's expression looked a bit unnatural. Recently, he had received a bit too much praise in the guild, so much that he was somewhat unaccustomed to it.

In the past, the things he did seemed in people's eyes to be only natural, simply because he was Makarov's grandson.

From childhood to adulthood, many of the things he had done were worthy of praise. Just like becoming the youngest S-Class Mage in the guild, he had constantly been breaking various records, constantly doing things others could not accomplish.

But the evaluation he received was always "as expected of Makarov's grandson." No one remembered Laxus; they only remembered "Makarov's grandson." His efforts were erased.

Yet this time, things seemed different. After defeating Jose Porla, he finally had his own name.

People no longer used "Makarov's grandson" to refer to him. Laxus began to be mentioned by name, and he even gained the title "Thunder God." His Lightning Magic left a deep impression on people.

In fact, the reason it turned out this way had a lot to do with Moen.

The two of them had joined forces; people could hardly collectively call them "Makarov's grandsons," could they? If neither of them had much fame, that might not have been impossible.

But Moen's fame was right there. It was impossible not to mention his name. Once Moen's name was mentioned, Laxus's name had to be mentioned as well. Replacing it with "Makarov's grandson" would not work, because Moen also shared that identity.

As soon as the news media gathered information on Laxus, they were immediately shocked. This young man was also an extremely powerful Mage, a genius in no way inferior to Moen.

Thus, alongside the "Rose Star," the "Thunder God" was born. The titles "Fairy Tail Twin Stars" and "Fairy Tail Twin Prodigies" spread without anyone needing to promote them.

Laxus's name, just like that, spread rapidly by riding on Moen's fame. Of course, it also stepped on Jose Porla's reputation. The Guild Master of Phantom Lord made a tremendous contribution to the fame of Moen and Laxus.

"Let's go! Laxus, we're taking this job. Take us to the place you picked, and let's see how to build it."

After giving Laxus a round of praise, the Fairy Tail construction team, led by Uncle Reinhardt, decisively accepted the job.

During this period, they had already completed the construction of the Harp Music Hall and had just become free. Since Laxus had already submitted the request, they of course had to help. Moreover, Laxus was being so generous then they had to do a good job all the more.

"Follow me."

Laxus nodded and led everyone out. His attitude had clearly improved a lot. He was no longer wearing a sour face and ignoring people. In the past, he had been indifferent to these guild members who did miscellaneous work; he had believed such people were not suitable to remain in the guild.

Moen sat to the side, smiling as he watched this scene. He felt that he might have found a way to change Laxus.

The current Laxus was clearly not as extreme as described in the task content. He could completely be changed in a subtle and gradual way.

The people in the guild certainly held no malice toward Laxus. In fact, everyone thought he was very talented and very powerful.

When everyone praised Laxus, they would also praise the old man in passing. That was normal. After all, Laxus had previously still been a child. When praising a child, mentioning the parents along the way was perfectly natural; everyone would feel that it was because the parents had educated him well.

Children were originally easily treated as extensions of adults, especially when the adult in that family shone particularly brightly. Subjectively, no one had intended to hurt Laxus.

Now, Laxus had gradually grown up, and everyone was increasingly beginning to view him as an independent individual.

Although because of Makarov's presence, everyone would still unconsciously have higher expectations of Laxus, when praising him they certainly would no longer repeatedly mention Makarov again. This would, more or less, ease the relationship between Laxus and everyone.

'I just wonder what happened afterward that made Laxus become increasingly extreme. Did some accident occur?'

Moen pondered in his heart but could not grasp the key point. There was no way around it, the task content truly had not provided any effective hints.

'With my presence, will those accidents still happen?'

Moen thought to himself. He could not actually guarantee that.

Judging by the content of the system task, he should have already changed quite a bit of the original storyline. But whether that would affect the development of subsequent events, he did not know.

"Miss Mira! Miss Mira! Could you please reconsider?! The terms we're offering are extremely generous! We can negotiate further!"

While Moen was thinking about possible accidents that might happen in the future, Mirajane entered the guild with Lisanna and Elfman.

Behind the three of them followed a man in a neat suit. The man had a serious expression and kept speaking continuously.

"I already said I don't plan to sign a contract and debut. Stop pestering me!"

Mirajane was thoroughly annoyed. With a stern face, she refused once again.

"Miss Mira… please reconsider. We truly think very highly of you…"

The man forced a smile, still unwilling to give up, continuing to persuade her. Veins had already begun to appear on Mirajane's forehead; the irritable singing prodigy was about to lose her patience.

"Sir, if you have a job to commission, please submit it at the front desk. If not, then please leave."

Before Mirajane directly knocked out this talent scout, Moen stepped forward. With a smile on his face, he stood in front of Mirajane and blocked the man.

This action was not to protect Mirajane, but to protect this talent scout. Moen felt that if he had come a little later, this talent scout might have gone straight to meet his great-grandmother. Mira was clearly already annoyed to the extreme by this guy.

"Mr. Moen! May I ask if you would consider signing a management contract?! Our company will provide you with—"

Upon seeing Moen, the man's eyes lit up and he immediately switched targets. Signing Mirajane would certainly be a great achievement, but if he could secure Moen, he would soar to the top on the spot!

"No need to say more. Not considering it. Please go out."

However, before the man could finish speaking, Moen had already directly interrupted him and extended his hand to ask him to leave.

With the successful release of Masayume Chasing, people from these music companies and celebrity agencies had come knocking one after another. Their targets were naturally Moen and Mirajane.

The focus was on Mirajane, because she was the lead vocalist of Masayume Chasing, and within the Mage profession she was relatively unknown, making it more likely for her to switch careers.

As for Moen, in fact not many people still held out hope. At most they would ask in passing. After all, Moen's fame was too great; he did not look like someone who would switch careers to become a celebrity.

Moreover, with Moen's current hard power and fame, he no longer needed anyone to package or promote him. The present Moen, no matter what he did, would receive attention. Whether he published a book or released a song, it would immediately cause a huge sensation.

Under Moen's urging, and beneath the gazes of the surrounding Fairy Tail members, the talent scout did not dare to continue pestering and could only apologize repeatedly as he left the guild hall.

"Mira, you're a big star now too~~~"

After driving away the annoying talent scout, Moen came over and sat across from Mira, making a joke. As the lead singer, Mira had indeed received a great deal of attention. Her singing voice truly was heaven-sent, after all, it was a voice comparable to that of the Lyra Celestial Spirit.

"I'm not interested in being a big star at all."

Mira pouted. She did not want to become an entertainment celebrity.

Singing was only her way of relieving stress and emotions; it was her hobby.

Of course, if others could like her singing voice and gain comfort and happiness from it, she would also be very happy. But the relationship should stop there—communicating through music was enough. She did not want to deal with any fanatical fans.

"Then what if I have more songs in the future that suit you? Won't you sing them anymore?"

Moen looked at Mira and asked with a smiling expression.

"Of course I'll sing. But I'll only sing the songs you need me to sing. I won't sing other people's songs, nor will I sign with any company to become a celebrity."

Mirajane answered without hesitation. She only intended to sing the songs Moen wrote and be Moen's exclusive female singer. It could also be considered repayment for Moen teaching her how to sing. She was even doing it free of charge.

"That won't do. I'll give you 20% of all the revenue from a song as payment for asking you to be the lead vocalist."

Moen shook his head. A song copied out by him, lyrics, composition, and arrangement would naturally all be handled by him alone. Mirajane only needed to sing. Such a distribution was also reasonable.

"That's too much! I didn't do anything. Even singing was taught by you…"

Mira hurriedly shook her head, shaking it like a rattle-drum. In any case, she was too embarrassed to take the money. Moen had taken such good care of them and had already helped her a lot. Naturally, she would not take a share of Moen's money, especially since she had not really contributed much.

"Singing your songs, I should be the one paying you. How could I possibly still take your money? Don't say any more. I definitely won't take it."

Mira's expression was serious. If Moen said any more, she would get angry. It made her feel as if Moen were giving her charity. She was capable of earning money herself; she did not need Moen's charity!

"Alright…"

Moen smiled helplessly. Mira was really hard to deal with. He truly had been thinking of using this method to help lighten Mira's burden.

At the very least, to help her get through the period when her younger brother and sister were unable to help much. In a couple of years, when Lisanna and Elfman could also play their parts, Mira's pressure would suddenly be much less.

But the stubborn and independent Mira clearly would not accept it. At a glance she could tell that Moen's approach was very unreasonable.

"At the very least, I should pay a buyout fee, right? A fee to buy out your voice. That way you can only sing my songs. It'll be as if I've bought the exclusive rights to use your singing voice."

Looking at Mira, Moen said with a smile. His words clearly made Mira freeze for a moment.
