I got inside the car and Mr Ndlovu drove
off.
He was driving a BMW X5M. I always fantasised of driving that car once I
make it big. I kept on imaging myself le
mama Ka Lino mtha and my siblings
inside this car ke badriva.
My thoughts were interrupted by some
sound in the car.
Mr Ndlovu: "Ow, you didn't put on your
seatbelt, that's why the car is making
this sound."
Lino mtha: I looked around and couldn't
find any seatbelt, I didn't even know
how to put on a seatbelt. I have only
used taxis all my life. "Where is the seat
belt?" He showed me, then my next
question was, "How do I put it on?" I was
so humiliated.
Mr Ndlovu: "I will put it on for you when we stop at a nearby Garage." He could
see I am so humiliated and he didn't ask
any further questions.
He started playing music, he was
playing Caphaus Semenya and Letta
Mbuli.
Mr Ndlovu: "I hope I am not boring you
with my music, I know you young people
you like my
nigga yeah yeah shake it baby." He was
using his hands while trying to rap. He
looked so funny I just busted out
laughing.
Mr Ndlovu: " That one who was beaten up by her boyfriend who is also a
musician naye."
Linomtha: I then figured out his talking
about Rihanna and he was trying to sing
Work work. I laughed, tears rolling down
my face, I just couldn't stop.
Mr Ndlovu: " it's so boring, you're laughing at me . I am still your boss
and I can dismiss you."
Linomtha: "You dare do that and I'll tell
Rihanna how you sing her song and she
will sue you and I'll gladly represent her."
We both laughed.
Mr Ndlovu: " I'm old and I can't
keep up with this music you youngsters
listen to. I just hear them when I am listening to the radio."
Linomtha: "Lenna I am not a fan, I only
know ka bo Rihanna because everyone
ko campus listened to them. I actually
love this kind of music you're playing and
gospel."
Mr Ndlovu: "Unamanga, you don't even
know any of this music." After he said
that 'Ziphi inkomo za malobola' started
playing and I started singing it so loud,
looking at him. He looked at me so
amazed.
Linomtha: I stopped singing and looked
at him. "Repeat those
words again, you're lying." I
enjoyed talking to him that way with my
broken Zulu.
