Abram delivered one final punch to Benjamin's stomach before stepping back.
Still bound to the chair, the knight doubled over, coughing violently as pain shot through his battered body. Dark stains splattered onto the stone floor beneath him.
"Perhaps a cold, hungry night in here will loosen your lips," Abram said.
Without waiting for a response, he turned and descended the tower stairs.
The room fell silent.
Soon, the night wind began to slip through the cracks in the ancient stone walls. Benjamin shuddered as the cold settled into his bones.
Closing his eyes, he tried to piece together how he had ended up here.
The last thing he clearly remembered was secretly following Princess Lannae through the castle. He had wanted to approach her, but when she entered the king's chambers, he decided against it.
So he waited.
And watched.
Then he heard footsteps behind him.
Before he could turn around, a sharp pain struck the back of his neck.
