Chapter 171 - Plans Written in Light and Shadow

The mansion had grown quieter.

Not silent—just settled.

The kind of calm that only existed when monsters, gods, and primordial beings shared the same room without tension.

Luminous stood beside Rayon, golden eyes watching the flow of Isola Krein through the windows. Life. Death. Motion. Stillness.

Then she spoke.

"It seems Kiandrae, Ivis, and Axel were sent by Mephisto."

Rayon laughed softly—low, amused, almost lazy.

"I knew it was him," he said. "That snake never changes."

He turned slightly, shadows shifting with him.

"I bet right now they're scrambling," he continued.

"After what you did, they'll start preparing for an inevitable war."

Luminous glanced at him. "Nullivar won't rush."

Rayon's smile sharpened.

"Of course he won't. He knows."

He tapped his chest once.

"No matter what they do… they can't get rid of me."

His voice dropped, ancient and absolute.

"The Abyss.

Primordial Darkness."

He looked toward the sky.

"They'll go to the Upper Realm next. Ask for help. Beg, if they have to."

Luminous narrowed her eyes slightly.

"…That artifact," she said, sensing it again.

"Isn't it from the Upper Realm? What is it doing here?"

Rayon's expression shifted—not worry, not fear—curiosity.

"I'm not sure myself," he admitted.

"My best guess? Something went wrong up there."

He folded his arms.

"The Upper Realm can't be perceived normally. The laws of higher dimensions are too dense—too absolute."

His tone turned serious.

"If even a single being from there descended fully into the lower realms…"

"…their mere presence could destroy worlds."

Even Luminous listened carefully.

"The laws here couldn't suppress them," Rayon continued.

"Not even slightly."

A pause.

Then Luminous asked quietly,

"So… you're thinking about going to the Upper Realm soon?"

Rayon didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he looked back into the room.

At Nexus.

At Azelar.

At Nyk and Christine.

At the twins—Lucifer gripping Azelar's beard like it was a challenge, Esdeath sleeping peacefully in Nexus' arms.

His smile softened.

"Soon," he said.

"But not right now."

He turned back to Luminous.

"I need to make sure that when I leave…"

"…they're protected."

His eyes darkened—not with menace, but resolve.

"And strong enough to protect themselves."

Luminous studied him.

Then, slowly—

She smiled.

The light outside the mansion flared just a little brighter.

Because even Light could recognize this truth:

The most dangerous thing in existence

was not the Abyss at war—

—but the Abyss building a future.
