Pauline's POV
Aliya had already worn down my patience, but she threw herself at me again with reckless abandon. Her claws swept through empty air as I seized her wrist and twisted hard, forcing her to stumble backward. The ragged sound of her breathing told me everything I needed to know.
She was no longer the formidable opponent she once was.
"Pathetic," I breathed, shoving her away from me. "You've grown weak."
Fire blazed in her eyes, but instead of launching another attack, she threw back her head and laughed like a woman possessed.
"Just leave," I said with a weary sigh, rotating my shoulders to ease the tension. "I have no interest in coming between you and Logan, if that's what's eating at you. I only came here for Windsor."
Aliya's mouth curved into a knowing smirk, as if she'd been waiting for exactly those words.
"Perfect." She folded her arms across her chest, tilting her chin up with arrogant satisfaction. "Because we're blissfully happy together."
