Pauline's POV
"That was too close for comfort," I whispered as our boat cut through the dark waters, leaving the pack clinic behind. "I could catch his scent drifting closer to the medical building just as we were pulling away."
Daisy's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You can actually detect his scent from that distance?"
"Of course I can. Why wouldn't I be able to?" The words slipped out before I realized how much I was revealing. The moment I saw the knowing look spreading across Daisy's face, I knew I'd made a mistake.
"That means the mate bond between you two is still incredibly strong. I thought you said he rejected you?"
My lips pressed into a thin line. "Hold on," she gasped, her voice rising with excitement. "You never told me anything about rejecting him back! No wonder the sexual tension between you two could cut glass."
