Jarek.
For over five minutes, I couldn't move, and I could swear that I couldn't even breathe either. I was frozen in place, my breaths coming in short rasp pants; and that was the reason I couldn't bring myself to chase after her, especially after witnessing what I just witnessed.
For a long time, I stared at my torn down door, my heart racing in shock at how effortlessly Leilani had ripped it off.
"But she doesn't have a wolf…" I whispered to myself, shaking my head because even normal people with wolves could not do that as effortlessly as she did.
I tried to shake away this thought, to stop wondering what she could possibly be and how she'd gotten so strong, but I couldn't. There was this aura that she possessed. This crazed look I'd seen in her eyes… a brokenness that she'd never laid bare to me before like she did tonight; And it made me restless.
Up ahead, I saw her still walking, her arms wrapped around her small frame as she trudged on under the pouring rain.
