Leilani.
As soon as those words echoed around the already quiet corridor, my heart sank.
Like it literally dropped into a deep dark twisted hole somewhere in my guts, causing ripples and ripples to spread out until I was sure that my insides were all twisted and tied up in knots so tight, I could barely breathe through it.
My throat suddenly felt dry so when I said the words: "Why? Why is an induced coma in the equation?" it sounded more like a cough than an actual word.
Thankfully, the doctor listened enough to hear me clearly and actually understand me because he then cast a look that seemed more pitiful than professional at me as he muttered; "It is to help his body regenerate all his lost strength and in this case, slow down the effects of the poison while we seek faster ways to drain the poison out of him."
Poison.
Drain.
Coma.
