Simon's idea of enchanting the human body was not unfounded.
When playing Baldur's Gate, he heard of a group of Red Wizards who would tattoo their bodies, allowing them to cast many spells instantly.
Compared to mages in D&D, mages in the elder scrolls world value inspiration more and lean a bit more towards sorcerers, but borrowing some of their ideas is still good.
To do something, one must first have theoretical or experiential support; if not, then try more.
Simon was actually reluctant to shave off his warm, cold-resistant fur for enchanting; it would be a real pity. However, he wasn't in a hurry to make that first cut on himself; there were still many things to do first, even if it meant experimenting on animals or real people.
There was another urgent matter—the Pure Land had stabilized.
Although Simon had not yet created a Storm Elemental, the Pure Land had connected with the world. Now, time began to flow, and it could gather energy and matter internally.
Most importantly—the Pure Land's exploitation of the Magic Core had decreased, and now he could store a little magic energy—just a little.
Simon tidied up his belongings and put them into the Pure Land for easy carrying. Then, he prepared to open up an experimental area where any dangerous spell experiments could be conducted safely, allowing him to quickly escape if anything went wrong.
When Simon himself enters the Pure Land, he will leave an Epiphyllum Seal in his original spot, and he will reappear there next time. However, only one seal can exist, which means not having instant teleportation is quite regrettable.
Regarding instant teleportation, the spell descriptions for the summoning school mentioned that advanced mages could travel quickly by summoning an Oblivion Gate.
Furthermore, the Pure Land's ability for long-distance communication could also achieve similar effects through summoning spells.
In a book titled "Oblivion Gate," written by the mage Sef-Ije-Hijafa and chronicling the deeds of his master, Master Morian Zenas, it was mentioned that summoning spells could connect the minds of summoned creatures and their summoner. And exceptional individuals, like the vanished Dwarves (Deep Elves, Dwemer), as well as the monks of the mysterious High Elf organization Psijic Order, could all communicate through mental links.
Every magic has the potential to be explored and developed.
Simon planned to create a Storm Elemental when he had a moment.
Even he himself wasn't clear on the principles of the entire process, yet he could succeed, which was very strange.
After deeply resonating with magic energy, the world before Simon's eyes was filled with dark clouds.
The clouds were thick and opaque. He felt a solid surface beneath his feet, but it wasn't like dirt; rather, it was like a firm quilt. The dark clouds were pushed by chaotic, noisy winds, moving swiftly. Standing amidst them, he couldn't even determine if he was moving or if the surrounding world was in motion. The strong light of thunder flashed above his head, and the restless cloud currents shaped myriad forms. In the interplay of light and shadow, they resembled infinite demons and evil spirits. A person within them could not even look up to discern their true form, but merely drifted like dust on a wave, shallowly lingering on the surface.
When the illusion disappeared, a Storm Elemental appeared. It was a cluster of various sizes of glittering, dark electric stones, suspended and rotating within a whirlwind. Its body was about three feet tall, but its aura looked as vast as three miles.
After being brought into the Pure Land, gales, thunder, rain, and snow descended upon the boundless ice plain. The atmosphere became active, and the world's structure grew increasingly stable under the nourishment of new magic energy.
Simon tested the stability of his summoned creatures during spatial and temporal shifts.
The projected Daedric longsword, once brought into the Pure Land, would disappear, returning to Oblivion. Similarly, the summoned Soul-sucking Tapeworm would also vanish.
The existence of projections was unstable, for unknown reasons.
Simon tried to summon a Fire Elemental, a wild one, not a domesticated one.
He first created a magic circle, using a bit of Soul-sucking Tapeworm blood, as it was easily obtained.
Then came the incantation.
He then found that his magic energy was still insufficient, and the attempt failed.
Simon slapped his cheeks hard; this was too painful.
He could make scrolls with enchanting spells, but the soul stone was used up again.
This was too painful.
Going around in circles, he still had to solve the spellcasting problem, and the tattoo plan had to be restarted.
[Spell Experiment]
Magic Tattoo.
Description: Due to insufficient magic energy, I have no choice but to take an unconventional path. Magic tattoos might be a viable option.
Step One: Find an experimental subject.
Simon found a flock of sheep. These animals had recently started foraging on the Tundra, and there were quite a few, so he could use them as needed.
He caught a strong male goat, weighing 110 pounds, fat and robust. After being shorn, a fresh, gamey smell stimulated the Troll's mouth to water.
The experiment location was chosen to be the Wolf Pack Resting Place, as it wasn't a high-risk experiment and didn't require seclusion.
Step Two: Engrave the magic circle… Complete.
He engraved a Healing Spell magic circle and had to figure out how to activate it.
Step Three: Attempt activation.
Simon could activate the enchanting spell with his mental power, but the effect was poor and he couldn't apply it to the experimental subject.
Life magic energy extended along his mental power to Simon, incidentally also drawing the goat's life force. The male goat, which had been bleating loudly, slowly ran out of breath.
Choosing the Healing Spell was originally for safety, but it still cost a life.
The body was temporarily frozen in the Pure Land's ice plain; the experiment was not over yet.
He went to catch another sheep, this time a female goat. The previous steps were repeated, but he struggled again with the final activation.
He could only let the experimental subject activate it themselves, but animals wouldn't have such awareness. He had to find a way to guide its mental power.
After much thought, he finally had an idea: he decided to involve the Soul-sucking Tapeworm in the experiment.
The Soul-sucking Tapeworm can extract souls. If one end is fixed to the brain and the other to the enchanted magic circle, it might be possible to draw mental power to participate in the operation of magic energy.
Thus, a port for the enchanted magic circle would also need to be created, a circle on the skin's surface, only requiring mental power to be transmitted to the skin.
So, the Soul-sucking Tapeworm would have to be permanently present.
Simon couldn't achieve this; the Soul-sucking Tapeworm would return once its summoning time was up. He decided to prioritize the experiment, and if the idea was feasible, he would address this problem later.
The goat, tied down on the ground, had its back of the head bitten by a Soul-sucking Tapeworm. Simon cut open the skin on its back and then sewed the tapeworm's tail in.
Nothing happened, except for the goat crying out in pain.
He had to stimulate the Soul-sucking Tapeworm. Simon tried tapping, needling, and burning, to no avail. Finally, he injected magic energy, and the Soul-sucking Tapeworm became excited and began to wriggle.
The patterns on the goat's body lit up little by little, and golden life magic energy spread over it, healing its pain and soothing its spirit.
The tail of the Soul-sucking Tapeworm was tightly connected to the goat, but as soon as the summoning time was up, it disappeared directly, and the enchanting spell's effect faded.
Simon looked at the lively experimental subject and smiled.
