Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Nothing of significance happened after that. Just got thrown into a carriage after being dressed. But, such treatment wasn't anything new to me.

Being shoved aside like I didn't exist, tossed around like a sack of wheat and such. But, at some point, I became numb to the sentiment of being treated as anything but a child.

After a long while of swaying and bumping we stopped. With no vision to look upon at my destination, my thoughts linger between where I was and what is to come.

As whispers of the passing-chilling wind and the thumping of footsteps pull me out of my thoughts. I was led down the carriage gently.

—too gentle— was the thought that came to mind.

But a sudden tug pulled me out of said thoughts, yet again as before—gentle— was what came to mind.

I was led forward. One step at a time, my hand held by another, the calm breeze passing over, the faint rustle of the earth as we walk towards our destination.

It could probably be depicted as a classic scene in those stories I hear of. Though, not so far off as to what's truly to come.

Yet, My steps felt heavy, my thoughts kept racing and my heart beat became more audible by the second. And as I drift further and further into this unknown feeling—

"Is he the one?" Then came a voice. I knew, due to my lack of sight such a thing, as looking at the one who the voice belonged to was nothing if not foolish, but—

"A new kid!?" Said a younger yet masculine childlike voice.

"GUYS THERE'S A NEW KID HERE!?" He yells out.

I couldn't help wincing a little at his sudden outburst, trying to cover my ears with my hands.

"REALLY!? YAAYYY!!!" Then, came the reply louder than the one before me.

Nearly tearing my ears to shred, as I crouch down covering my ears to prevent it.

"Leon! Kids! Keep your voices down, can't you see your new friend is hurting!"

Not sooner did the voices start they died down, one after another muttering sorry for their behavior.

Frankly, said noise didn't so much as bother me. All it did was provide a faint distraction for what lies ahead of me.

"Sorry! We didn't mean to do that!" said the the childlike voice in front of me. Getting lower and lower till he arrives at my level.

"Hi, I'm Leon. Nice to meet'cha" He says. Grabbing my hands, as he gently raises me up. "What's yours?"

Back then, I had always thought myself— being numb to every and all sensations will prepare me for whatever and all there is to come— but, no preparations what so ever would've been enough for what I was about to face.

As, the clueless yet cautious past me stares at the blinding light before him, enclosed in swarm of darkening abyss-like beings sorround them.

One thought flickers in his mind that still matches mine up till this day—Fear—.
