"My King. My Queen. My Prince. My Princess…"
A hush rolled across the stones as the herald spoke, his syllables slow, shaped by silence, bouncing off pale walls and bright air.
A pause settled in. Not too short, not too long - just right to make everyone notice. She shifted her gaze to the wide front opening, ivy winding up faded walls, flowers sagging beneath their deep hues. Sunlight slipped through, thin strands floating down, touching green edges and smooth stone curves as if breathing.
"…Lady Sasha Suncrest has arrived."
The courtyard froze.
A breath began but never left the lips, sound vanishing like smoke. Banners hung loose now, caught in a pause that felt deliberate. Water still fell into stone - only now it cracked through silence, each drop louder than meant to be. Fabric slid along marble ribs of columns, barely there. A ring of steel rang once, low and brief, then nothing moved at all.
