Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The World of Pirates

Fairy Tail

"President, this is the request we'd like to take."

Rain and Mira walked up to Makarov, holding the paper they had chosen from the mission board.

"Alright."

Makarov glanced over it, nodded, and stamped his seal of approval.

Then, his lips curled into a mischievous grin. His eyes glimmered with mischief as he looked at the two of them.

"Heh heh… just make sure you don't come back with a child in your arms."

"G-Guildmaster!!!"

Mira's face turned bright red in an instant. She crossed her arms and glared at him, flustered beyond words. No matter how bold she acted normally, this kind of teasing always left her defenseless.

Rain coughed into his fist, his own cheeks tinted. "Ahem. That's… still a bit early, Guildmaster."

"Oh ho, youthful love…"

Macao and Wakaba chuckled from the side, their grins like nosy aunties watching from the sidelines.

"Marriage, huh? That's a good thing," Wakaba added, puffing his pipe.

Even Erza, standing nearby, felt a pang of quiet envy. No matter how strong she was, she was still a girl at heart.

"Anyway, we'll be off."

Rain and Mira bowed politely to the guild.

"When we come back, we'll bring you all some souvenirs."

They waved, and with that, turned and left Fairy Tail behind.

In a small town outside Magnolia, Rain and Mira stopped at the postal station. There, they wrote several letters and left instructions:

Each letter would be delivered to Fairy Tail one year after the last one per year.

Until the day came when they could never return.

"…That should do it."

Rain sealed the last envelope with a steady hand. "Now, all that's left is to see how far our luck takes us."

Mira's expression hardened, her blue eyes brimming with determination. "Then let's go."

The two of them walked into the quiet forest on the outskirts of town. Their hands intertwined, fingers locked tightly together.

After checking to make sure they were completely alone, Rain closed his eyes and reached inward.

Gate of Time and Space activate.

Light flared.

The great platinum doors appeared, etched with sacred patterns, glowing as if summoned from beyond the heavens. They rumbled as they opened, the white brilliance spilling into the trees.

"Here we go, Mira."

"Mm!" She nodded firmly, her grip tightening around his hand.

Together, they stepped forward.

The white light swallowed them whole.

And in the next moment...

Rain and Mira vanished from the world of Earthland.

The journey across worlds lasted only a blink.

Rain and Mira opened their eyes and were already standing in a narrow alley.

No sensation of movement, no distortion in their bodies. If not for the sudden shift in scenery, they might have thought nothing had happened at all.

"…So this is the new world?"

Mira looked around curiously. Her silver hair swayed as she scanned the stone walls and bustling streets beyond the alley.

Nothing felt particularly unusual, no strange energy or overwhelming aura. Her brows furrowed in doubt.

Rain closed his eyes briefly, drawing in the air. "…Yes. This is definitely a different world. The air is thick with the smell of the sea. We're in a port city."

Just then, a pulse of information surged into Rain's mind from the Gate of Time and Space.

Mira noticed the shift in his expression. "What's wrong, Rain?"

Rain's voice grew serious. "The flow of time between this world and ours… it's ten to one. Which means while one year passes here, only a month will have passed in Earthland."

"…That's good news."

Mira's lips curled into a grin, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"In that case, we've got plenty of time to cause a big fuss in this world."

Rain exhaled, giving her a wry look. "Don't underestimate this place, Mira. We're still nowhere near invincible. This world is dangerous."

Mira huffed, folding her arms but nodding all the same. "I know. Don't worry, I won't act recklessly."

In truth, she wasn't nearly as careless as she sounded. In a strange world, she was every bit as cautious as Rain.

"Alright. Let's go take a look around."

Hand in hand, the two of them stepped out of the alley and into the open street.

The difference was immediate.

The humans here… somehow felt sturdier, as if their bodies were built tougher than the average person back in Earthland.

Among them, Rain even spotted individuals of other races mixed in something Fairy Tail's world rarely showed.

"…Those men in uniform," Mira whispered, watching rows of soldiers marching past. Rifles gleamed in their hands, steel sabers at their sides.

"They're…?"

"Marines," Rain murmured. His brow furrowed. "So we really did land in a world that's not simple at all."

The streets were overflowing with noise. The closer they walked toward the plaza, the more crowded it became.

"Hey, did you hear? They're going to execute Pirate King Roger!"

"Of course I heard! The whole of Loguetown is gathering at the plaza to witness it!"

"Gol D. Roger… the man who conquered the seas… It's hard to believe it's finally over."

"…!"

Rain and Mira froze for a heartbeat as the words reached their ears. The atmosphere was tense, charged with excitement and unease.

The crowd surged forward, everyone moving toward the execution platform at the center of the city.

"Public execution of the Pirate King?"

Mira's eyes lit up instantly. Her expression shifted from curiosity to excitement as she turned to Rain, silently asking his opinion.

"Let's go," Rain said with a small smile. "We should see it for ourselves."

Seeing her expectant gaze, he couldn't possibly refuse. Hand in hand, they began moving with the crowd toward the center of Loguetown.

As they walked, Rain couldn't help but marvel at the Gate of Time and Space.

Not only had it brought them to this world, it had placed them at this exact moment in history.

Too early, and they would have arrived in obscurity. Too late, and the greatest opportunity would have already passed.

But here now at the precise instant of Roger's execution? This was the perfect starting point.

The timing could not have been better.

Loguetown — Execution Square

By the time they reached the plaza, the air was thick with tension. The atmosphere was suffocating, filled with the weight of countless presences.

Both Rain and Mira unconsciously straightened, their expressions turning serious.

"…Rain."

Mira's voice was low, her gaze sweeping the square. "There are a lot of strong people here."

The crowd was massive, but amidst the thousands, there were presences that pressed down on her chest.

Veteran Marines, dangerous pirates, people whose strength couldn't be measured by appearance alone.

Her earlier excitement dimmed, replaced by sharp caution. Even if she used her full demon form, she wasn't certain she could get Rain out safely if things went wrong.

Rain squeezed her hand gently, his eyes calm.

"Don't worry, Mira. At least here, in this square, nothing will touch us. Those men in the coats of justice… their strength is terrifying."
