Chapter 41 - chapter 41: No Such Luck

Logan's POV

"Welcome back Alpha, How was the search?" Beta Benjamin asked as soon as we got out of the car.

"It fucking sucked! That was the tenth mating ceremony we attended in the past few months and all the thirsty wolves and she-wolves really made this last one the biggest joke so far! I can't tell you how many pricks I had to put in their place." Lotus answered Benji slamming the car door. "Like seriously they may have just called it an orgy with desperate bootlickers." She rolled her eyes causing Benji to throw his head back and start laughing hard.

"You're lucky mom's not here to hear you talk like that, she would ream you out." I teased then turned to my Beta. "It was awful man, it's like no one was there to actually find their mates. They just wanted to hook up or increase their status. It was a joke."

"That bad huh! Glad I had to stay home to watch the pack this year. I can't deal with the desperate social climbers." Benji clapped me on the back while speaking. "Did you at least get a good lay while you were gone." He winked.

I scoffed at his ridiculous question, "No, you know I don't like she-wolves like that. Plus it was not why I was there. I want to find my mate, my Luna, not some one-night stand or fling that might get the wrong idea."

"Plus most those girls were nasty, even I wouldn't touch them." Lotus said as she ran over wrapping her arm around my waist and Benji's, we walked into the pack house and toward my soon to be office.

I love these two goofballs with all my heart. Not only is Benji my Beta but he's my best friend, Lotus is my best friend, my Gamma and my twin sister. We all grew up together, we were basically inseparable, more like triplets than just twins and a friend. Our parents are best friends too and our moms got pregnant at the same time leading to all three of us being born the same night. Over the past three years since we all turned 18 we have been looking for our mates with no such luck. This was the first mating ball Lotus and I attended without Benji, he had to stay back since my parents had to fly to some grand council meeting with their Betas and Gammas and since my mother the current Luna is desperate for my sister and I to find our mate or mates she would not let us stay behind to watch the pack.

See in werewolf history it has shown that twins typically share a mate, but most wolf twins are identical twins of the same gender and sexuality and not fraternal twins like my sister and me. Twins in the werewolf world are rare to begin with but fraternal twins are even rarer. It is said twins in the werewolf world are one soul split in two and it's why the moon goddess gives them one mate. There has been some cases of fraternal twins that share a mate but again it's usually because they are of the same gender and sexuality. However my sister and I aren't of the same gender, obviously, but we do share the same attraction to women. For the most part we both have been attracted to similar women but unless someone we are attracted to are bisexual we have never had an issue with fighting over the same woman. It's also why we aren't sure if we share a mate or not. If we share a mate I would feel the mate bond first because I am a few minutes older and in order for my sister to fully feel the bond, our mate has to accept me. It's why we always go together, for that small chance we do share a mate. Plus it would be amazing if all three of us, Lotus, Benji and I found our mate at the same time because it would mean our leadership would gain strength at one time. Lotus' and my mom desperately want us to find our mate so she and dad can officially retire and hand the pack over to us, plus I think she's desperate for grand pups even though I would like to enjoy time with my mate a little bit before we start having pups but I won't tell her that.

Once we get into the office the desk phone starts ringing.

"How do they always know when we are in here?" I groan, knowing it's my parents. I was hoping to have a few minutes of peace before diving into pack duties. I pick up the line and put it on speaker.

"Hey babies! How was the ball?" Mom greets immediately. Both Lotus and I roll our eyes.

"It was a sh-," Lotus stops herself before she curses. "It was horrible mom, all the attendees just seemed there to find eligible bachelors and bachelorettes to hook up with or to raise their statuses. Total waste of time."

"I'm sure it wasn't that bad." Mom complains.

"No mom it actually was. We should have just stayed home to take care of the pack." I replied, knowing she will listen better if I say the same thing.

"Oh well, there's always the next one," Mom begins, "I think there's one happening in two weeks in the …"

"Stop pestering the kids dear," Dad cuts her off. "Besides we have more important things to discuss with our kids. Finding a mate can wait."

"But…" Mom starts again.

"No buts, this matter is more important. Besides it could be the very reason our children haven't found their mates."

"Ahh, you're right." Mom sighs.

"Well tell us, what's going on?" Lotus asks.

"Is Benjamin with you? It's important he hears this as well." Dad questions.

"Yes Alpha, I'm here as well." Benji replies.

"Great, the reason we were all called to the grand council is because the self proclaimed Rogue King has been kidnapping she-wolves, mainly of lower ranks, to become his brides or breeders. If the Rogue King himself doesn't keep the she-wolves for his own, he lets the rogues of his so called kingdom have them as apparently 'kingdom' breeders." Dad says causing us to all growl in anger at this revelation.

"That's disgusting, I would love to find that piece of shit and rip his dick off!" Lotus yells.

"Language! Lotus that is no way for a lady to speak." Mom scolds, causing Benji and I to chuckle and Lotus to roll her eyes.

"Sorry mom." She says.

"How long has this been going on?" I ask to get back on topic. "How many missing she-wolves are we talking about?"

"That's the problem, apparently it has been going on for years and only recently has the grand council been informed. None of the packs this has happened to reported it. They either thought they could handle it on their own or they don't care enough about their she-wolves to act." He huffed. "We could be talking about hundreds if not thousands of missing she-wolves. Many were taken before they could shift at 16 so they never even gained pack links. The ones that do have them can't be tracked. It's like they disappeared. According to one of the most recent victims family, they can still sense their daughter is alive but that's it."

"So what does the grand council want to do?" Benji asks.

"They want us to search known rogue communities and camps to see if we can gather information or even find the Rogue King's kingdom. The family that brought this to the grand council's attention has gathered allies and has searched the whole East Coast with no luck. The West Coast, Central areas and the mountains have yet to be fully explored. The grand council gathered us all here so we can work on a plan to widen the search and hopefully have enough troops to take out the rogue kingdom without disturbing the human populations."

"Wow, that's a lot. I can't believe the Rogue King has been smart enough to pull this off for years." I say, "What can we do to help now?"

"Arrange for small groups of warriors to search local rogue camps. Most are harmless but be careful. Any more aggressive communities capture the leader and contact the local council to come question them. They are most likely hiding something for them to be more aggressive. Also if any rogues are seen surveying the area or attacking the pack, immediately contact the council and try to capture them as well. Your mother and I are staying here to help the grand council along with our Gammas but our Betas will be sent back to help arrange search parties and to arrange meetings with our allies for help."

"Yes, sir. We will get right on it."

"And Logan?"

"Yes dad?"

"This is your first big role as acting Alpha, be smart and strategic and remember everything I have taught you. Do that and hopefully we can reunite some families. You can do this son."

"I will, thanks dad." With that he hung up and we got to work creating teams and plans on to help the grand council.
