Chapter 87 - Side Dish

The pampered vampire nobles hid in the corners, secretly peeking at Zed and the others. After all, Zed and Blade's reputation was terrifying enough to make anyone hesitate.

But among thousands of vampires, not every noble was a silver spear with a wax tip—handsome but hollow.

In times of chaos, heroes emerge. The more desperate the situation, the more it reveals one's true nature.A middle-aged vampire with a shadowed face showed true leadership, staying calm under pressure as he ordered the guards to surround Zed and his companions.

The vampire glanced doubtfully at Lilith."You brought them here? Who exactly are you?"

Lilith had no interest in responding to this vampire, no matter how high his rank might be.

Seeing that she wouldn't answer, the vampire didn't bother asking again. He waved his hand and barked,"Kill them! All of you—if we don't take them down, none of us will live! Attack!"

The vampires understood all too well that because Lilith had led these intruders here, their entire hideout was now surrounded. There was only one way out—by killing their way through.

"Kill! Kill them all!""Everyone, attack together!"

As the vampires swarmed in, Zed pointed at them without a hint of emotion."Out of print!"

He summoned the Hour Hand Sword and charged into the mob, slaughtering left and right. These weaklings bored him. He only wanted to finish this fast and go find trouble with Dracula.

But the underground maze was far too complex, and the vampires seemed endless. Zed sighed helplessly and asked Lilith,"Do you know the way? Let's just go straight for the boss."

Lilith, worried that Dracula might escape, quickly replied,"I've got the layout mostly memorized. We can try—but these vampires…"

"Blade, I'll leave this part to you. You can handle it, right?" Zed said, already making plans.

Blade opened his mouth to refuse, but before he could speak, Zed had already spread his bat wings, scooped Lilith into his arms, and soared over the crowd.

"Tch." Blade snorted, venting his frustration on the vampires. "Fine. Then you all die tonight!"

Clad in Moon Knight armor, Zed flitted like a phantom deeper into the vampire enclave.

In his arms, Lilith realized that this was much faster than running, so she didn't ask to be put down.

"You remember the plan, right?" Zed asked one last time.

Lilith glanced at him, her pink eyes shimmering."I remember. You don't have to remind me. I'll do what I must—just make sure Dracula dies."

Zed shook his head, meeting her gaze."Let me repeat this—Dracula's immortality is absurd. I'm not sure I can kill him. What I promised you was to seal him. Don't forget that."

Lilith bit her lip, her expression uneasy. But she knew all too well how terrifying Dracula's regenerative power was.

He had once let her stab him over and over, hoping her rage would fade and that his daughter might come back to him.But each time he resurrected, unscathed. Lilith couldn't kill him—only sink deeper into despair. Eventually, she began seeking others' strength.

Taking a deep breath, Lilith sighed."Fine. Seal him then—as long as it works."

A horde of vampires chased them as Zed smashed his way toward the grand hall at the center of the lair—where the butler, Rona, was already waiting.

Trapped between wolves and tigers, Zed showed no sign of fear. But Lilith was visibly nervous.

Setting her down, Zed patted her shoulder reassuringly."Go. Leave this to me."

Lilith clutched the blank watch dial in her pocket. Her expression hardened as she nodded and stepped forward.

Rona, leaning on his rapier, didn't block her way. Instead, he bowed politely."Miss Lilith, the Count is expecting you."

Lilith didn't even glance at him. She walked past, pushed open the heavy doors, and disappeared inside as they shut behind her with a long, echoing creak.

When her figure vanished, Rona lifted his head toward Zed and bowed again."Mr. Zed Oleg, you shouldn't have involved yourself in this affair. The Count is furious. I've been ordered to end you here. My apologies."

Unlike the pretentious nobles, Rona's manners were flawless—even while speaking of killing, his tone was as calm and courteous as spring wind.

Zed smiled approvingly."You're not bad. A loyal butler like you is rare. I'll give you one chance—to serve me instead."

Rona's smile didn't waver. "You jest, sir. I'll begin now."

He drew his rapier and descended the stairs slowly. Behind Zed, the vampires tensed, claws scraping against stone.

Zed sighed, disappointed."What a shame."

BOOM!BOOM!

The ground cracked open as the vampires lunged toward him.

Zed gripped his Hour Hand Sword tight, spinning it in a wide arc. A circular shockwave burst outward, instantly cutting down those too slow to dodge.

The quicker ones rolled or leapt aside, regrouping to attack again.

Rona, a veteran fighter, vaulted high into the air, lunging straight for Zed's heart—a strike worthy of a master swordsman.

Zed stomped on a vampire's face and leapt upward to meet him. The sword's flat side clashed against Rona's rapier tip.

Clang!

A shower of sparks burst between them, dazzling everyone's eyes.

They landed, still locked in a contest of strength. Rona's polite smile finally twisted into a snarl, veins bulging as he pushed with all his might.

Zed gritted his teeth theatrically—but it was all an act.

Until Lilith's blank dial activated, he had to stay outside the council hall. He couldn't just wipe everyone out instantly. That would ruin the fun.

Panting lightly, Zed glanced at Rona."You can't stop me, let alone kill me. Tell me, have you got anything more exciting up your sleeve?"

Rona realized Zed was slightly stronger—and that his guards were useless for backup."As you wish."

His eyes glinted red as his pale skin turned a grotesque purplish-blue. His ears and nose elongated, fangs protruding from his mouth.

A true demon visage.

"Holy crap! That's hideous! I take back everything I said—you're not worth keeping alive. Out of print!"

Zed dropped all pretense. Something that ugly didn't deserve to exist.

He pressed down hard, forcing Rona to one knee. The butler struggled, shouting,"Attack!"

The vampire guards surged forward again.

Zed smirked, suddenly twisting his body to the side and withdrawing his sword. Rona stumbled past him—and Zed took the opening, kicking him straight into the oncoming crowd.

As Rona flew through the air, Zed slotted the Moon Knight dial into his Hour Gun.

He took aim, stance wide, both hands gripping the weapon."Out of print!"

BOOM!

The blast hurled Zed backward several meters from recoil.

Sensing danger, Rona roared midair as a pair of sickly violet wings tore through his coat. He beat them furiously, dodging aside just in time.

The vampires behind him weren't so lucky. Those in the center were vaporized before the explosion even hit—erased from existence.

When the dust cleared, only a few charred survivors remained at the edges. They glanced at Zed, then at their burns—and fled screaming.

Zed didn't chase them. Instead, he slapped his thigh and laughed."These are your elite guards? Ha—haha—ha! What a joke! You ugly butler, you could still run away like them! Though you'll die either way. Hahaha!"

Rona refused to flee. Duty and the Count's orders wouldn't allow it.

Clinging to the ceiling, he sharpened his claws, eyes darting for an opening. But Zed had already decided to erase him.

Zed fired into the crater from his previous blast, the explosion filling the room with dust.

Rona squinted, nerves taut, watching every direction—but Zed didn't come.

Paranoia clawed at him—until a pink light shimmered through the smoke.

When the haze lifted, Zed stood exactly where he'd been—but clad in different armor.

Phase Two.

He didn't even know why he bothered—most opponents fell easily to the Chronos Dial. But hey, sometimes you used a sledgehammer to kill a chicken. Because it felt good.

Dual blades in hand, Zed pointed them at Rona."Being buried by my Second Form—you should feel honored."

He strode forward, regal and unhurried. Rona charged desperately, claws slashing—but Zed cut him down every time before he could even get close.

Bleeding and shocked, Rona clutched his wounds."What are you… how are you doing this?"

Zed's lips curled."You're already dead."

"What—?" Rona blinked in confusion.

Zed tossed his blades aside, leapt high into the air, and roared,"Time Shatter!"

BOOM!

"Those who bring ruin upon themselves… deserve no mercy."
