Chapter 544 - 544 The Naive Miya

Jingle-jangle~~

The wind chimes on the door curtain rang crisply.

"Welcome! What would you like to order?"

The female staff member polishing glasses at the counter greeted with a bright smile.

As Luo Shu at the counter took a sip of coffee, a figure sat down beside him.

"Just black coffee for me."

An elegant, mature woman's voice sounded.

Luo Shu glanced sideways, meeting the woman's eyes, which were a deep crimson.

Those red eyes were clear and bright, like a child's innocent gaze.

"You must be Luo Shu, Director Luo?"

The raven-haired, crimson-eyed woman spoke with certainty, her words carrying the grace of maturity.

To this, Luo Shu raised an eyebrow slightly, took another sip of coffee, then smiled:

"Miya Yotsuba?"

Hearing Luo Shu accurately name her, Miya Yotsuba's eyes flickered as she instinctively attempted to peer into his mind.

But before she could act, a chilling sensation surged through her heart, as if a beast had locked onto her spine.

If she rashly probed... she would die...

Realising this instinctively, Miya Yotsuba's forehead broke out in cold sweat.

At that moment, Luo Shu spoke leisurely:

"Mental techniques are best not used on me. It'll only bring misfortune."

"If you want to extract information, it's better to use vague techniques that can only judge generalities, like determining whether my current mood is good or bad?"

By the end, Luo Shu's tone was full of mockery.

Ever since Utaha gained the Mind Reading ability, Luo Shu had known that mind reading was ineffective against him.

Unless it was something crude like Hagoromo Gitsune's ability to judge malice or goodwill, relying on extensive experience in reading the darkness of human hearts to predict thoughts, Luo Shu was the natural enemy of all mental ability users.

Hearing Luo Shu's advice, Miya Yotsuba's lips trembled slightly before she finally sighed:

"Director Luo, this seems to be our first meeting, doesn't it?"

Hearing this, Luo Shu set down his coffee cup, propped his elbow on the table, rested his chin on his hand, and looked at Miya Yotsuba:

"No need to test me. I do indeed know about you sisters."

"To be honest, I was rather looking forward to meeting Miss Maya. After all, compared to you, whom I counter, Miss Maya's reaction would be more interesting."

Miya Yotsuba silently took out a handkerchief, wiped the cold sweat from her forehead, forced herself to ignore Luo Shu's words about countering her, and said calmly:

"Though it may be presumptuous, I'd still like to know - how much do you actually know about us?"

Instead of answering, Luo Shu countered:

"Are you sure you want to know?"

Miya Yotsuba took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

She had realised the problem now.

She had been too naive when she confidently told her younger sister Maya Yotsuba that she could handle this situation.

Having always relied on magic to peek into others' minds, she wasn't actually skilled at communication.

All her past interactions had been based on being able to glimpse others' thoughts and prepare accordingly.

Faced with someone like Luo Shu, whose mind she couldn't read, she was at a complete loss.

Even now, though Miya suspected Luo Shu might be pretending to know about her, she didn't dare call his bluff because she couldn't predict his next move.

As Miya remained silent, the waitress brought over a cup:

"Your black coffee, please enjoy."

Seeing Miya remain wordless for several seconds, Luo Shu chuckled:

"Sixteen years old~ Still too young, it seems. In the five years since crossing over, you haven't improved at all?"

"Though for me, this might actually be a good thing."

Miya's pupils contracted as she stared at Luo Shu in shock.

'—He really knows?'

But before she could react, Luo Shu continued:

"You've seen parts of your future in Miyuki Shiba's mind, haven't you?"

"So, what do you think about your future?"

Miya took a deep breath, then said solemnly:

"Who are you?"

If there had been any prior suspicion that Luo Shu might be connected to Abe no Seimei, who had exposed their identities, then now, Miya Yotsuba was suspecting whether Luo Shu was Abe no Seimei himself.

Hence, this blunt question.

And this blunt question successfully made Luo Shu laugh out loud:

"Didn't you just announce my name the moment you arrived? Have you forgotten in such a short time?"

Miya Yotsuba didn't respond, merely staring fixedly at Luo Shu.

In response, Luo Shu merely glanced at her sidelong with an amused expression:

"Do you think your sister's secret is well hidden?"

"Let me give you a little free information."

"Divination in this world is quite unique. Some individuals even possess a fragment of omniscience."

"To such people, the information you've painstakingly hidden isn't secret at all."

"For them, the secrecy of information depends solely on whether they wish to know it."

"After all... what exists must be known."

'What exists must be known?!!'

Hearing this, Miya Yotsuba felt a chill run down her spine. She now clearly realised that coming to meet Luo Shu was her biggest mistake.

He had already outmanoeuvred her!

Just like those people she had once faced whose minds she'd read.

"Did Mr Luo Shu seek me out just to say these things?"

Miya Yotsuba deliberately said this, attempting to regain the initiative.

Though she somewhat believed there might indeed be diviners in this world who could directly obtain information about her sister, she was certain such individuals were extremely rare.

Though it was unclear how Luo Shu had managed it, given the current situation, it seemed that Luo Shu wanted something from her.

Otherwise, why would this meeting have happened?

Hearing Miya Yotsuba's words, Luo Shu merely calmly picked up his coffee, took a sip, then said in a slightly tactful tone:

"Perhaps Ms Yotsuba should contact Ms Maya instead?"

Hearing this, Miya Yotsuba's expression froze.

That intellectual disdain - she felt it keenly.

But she was the elder sister!!

Filled with intense resentment, under Luo Shu's meaningful gaze, Miya Yotsuba took out her phone and dialled her younger sister's number.
