Kevin's strange, aggressive behavior totally caught Nevaeh off guard.
Before she could even ask if she had done something wrong, Kevin snapped, his voice sharp and cold. "This is an academy, not a place for you to show off."
Nevaeh was completely confused, unsure of what had triggered his sudden anger. She furrowed her brow and asked, "What do you mean by that?"
Although she knew Kevin had a famously quirky temperament, Nevaeh was pretty sure she hadn't done a single thing to provoke him today.
Instead of answering her question, Kevin just scoffed, clearly furious. "I don't care who you are, whether you're Mrs. Bennett or the daughter of some rich family. Here, you're just a student. Nothing more."
After saying that, and without waiting for Nevaeh to explain herself, he shot her one last, searing glare and stormed off down the hall.
Nevaeh stood there, stunned and speechless, trying to process his angry words. It took her a full moment to realize the implication.
