Gerardo crashed to the ground, his bloodthirsty eyes fixed on the knife. He shouted, "I'll kill you! I'll kill you, you worthless woman!"
Taking advantage of Gerardo's moment of weakness, Maria quickly got up, snatched the kitchen knife from him, and began to taunt, "You think you can kill me? You pathetic loser! Even if you had two more guts, you wouldn't dare!"
She couldn't believe that this man, who had been a coward his entire life, would actually go through with it.
Her words only fueled Gerardo's rage.
After being pushed around by Maria for so long, he was determined to show her what a real man could do.
He scrambled to his feet and lunged for the knife in her hand.
Seeing that Gerardo was serious, Maria panicked and turned to flee, shouting back to her daughter, "Noreen, hurry! Run! He's gone mad, that beast is crazy!"
As her words left her lips, Gerardo caught up, grabbing the knife's handle in Maria's hands, pulling it toward himself with all his might.
