Chapter 26 - Future of Ashland

Berlin, Ashland

March 16, 11:00 am

AEOC Headquarters — Central Meeting Hall

The supreme council prepared to convene. The room was thick with tension as people sat around the long table, all wearing bright red suits. At the high seat, sat Chris – the supreme commander of the AEOC and King of Ashland. Suddenly, Chris knocked on the table which made the participants snap their heads towards him. He took a deep breath and started in a calm voice.

"This is a meeting to discuss the chaos fragment which opened near Kharagen and…the suspected roman air-craft that illegally entered our airspace."

All attendees nodded their heads, acknowledging the fact.

"The participants of this meeting are…" He said while casting his gaze across the room.

"I, The Supreme commander of the AEOC,

The Commander of the Apex forces,

The General of the Special ops Division and Black ops Division,

The Prime Minister,

The Minister of Finance,

And the Minister of internal affairs and foreign Affairs."

Everyone nodded as if acknowledging the people present. The tension in the room grew thicker each passing second until the minister of foreign affairs spoke.

"I've gotten in contact in Rome and the prime minister says that…um, they deployed the first unit of the black ops to subjugate a drug lord who was in coalition with a recently arrested politician…uh, Dick Quartel, I think."

"Those bastards think they do anything, can they? This is our territory! They need our permission!"

The minister of internal affairs lashed out. The minister of finance who was beside him, patted his shoulder and smirked.

"Don't be so stressed, friend. We need to be rational."

"How can I not be stressed?! Those scumbags are biting off more than they can chew! I've ha-"

"Silence!"

Chris cut off the minister's sentence, causing him to shutter in fear. Chris furrowed his brows and opened his mouth.

"Do not speak so loudly in my presence."

The minister nodded obediently as the commander of the apex chuckled slightly. Lancelot raised his hand.

"Sir Christopher, May I ask a question?"

"…Yes" Chris replied.

"How has the UK responded to our…postponement?"

The attendees leaned in closer, wanting to hear the news.

"They're outraged. Why wouldn't they be?"

"We need to be careful with them, sir…"

Chris didn't reply after that, continuing to observe the meeting. The minister of finance coughed and gave a smug grin.

"I've compensated the families of the deceased soldiers and am funding the investigation on Rome led by the general of the black ops division."

"Good for you, scumbag…" The internal affairs minister muttered under breath.

"Hey, Chris. I've got a question. Why didn't you capture that drug lord earlier?" The commander asked in a causal tone.

The minister shifted in their chairs and adjusted their clothes, staring at the commander of the Apex forces – Kaiser Wilhelm. Lancelot stiffened and the black ops general froze, awaiting Chris's answer.

"…Because that drug lord…he's special."

"Special? How?" Kaiser asked, his head resting on his palm.

"He's an avatar…Sun Wukong's at that."

The room exploded, forgetting how causally Kaiser had addressed the supreme commander.

"Sun Wukong's avatar?! The god of the Tibetan tribe that moves across the continent!" The foreign affairs shouted.

The finance minister gasped. "Then that mean he-"

"That he's probably from the Tibetan tribe but how?" The internal affairs stated.

"Yeah…I think he's the child that was left behind ten years ago…" Kaiser whispered.

"That's enough! We are here to focus on our nation! Not some god from a poor tribe!" Chris said in a commanding tone which made the room soundless.

"Anyways, I've arranged for the Apex forces to help with Chaos fragments while the first unit is in the forbidden continent."

Then, the internal affairs raised his hands.

"Um…sir?"

"Yes? Speak."

"Many air-type chaos beasts attacked the capital and while the second and third units were deployed to handle it…Many of them were injured while fighting and six people died."

Chris frowned and looked towards Lancelot. Lancelot flinched and stepped back.

"Uh…um…I…just forgot to…inform you. I'm extremely sorry."

Chris sighed. "Be more diligent next time."

'Nah, I won't…first, fix that pride of yours.'

Lancelot thought as Chris turned ahead as he said in a solemn tone.

"I'm guessing police officers also died."

"No…But there barely hanging on."

"Fine…I'll request assistance from Rome."

"Thank you, sir." The internal affairs minister bowed his head.

'I guess we have no other option than to ask Rome for help…I don't want to ask the UK…Those treacherous bastards…'

The minister clicked his tongue as the black ops general spoke up.

"I have a question, sir."

"Go on." Chris crossed his arms.

"From our investigation, we can confirm a chaos incarnate was present and we're sure it's probably the drug lord but… do you have any idea where he disappeared to?"

Chris froze and then, gently smiled as he narrowed his eyes.

"Don't' worry…I'll be taking care of that."
