As it turned out, Tobirama had always been a forward-thinker.
Before they had even finished their conversation, the Uzumaki clan leader had pushed through the crowd and grabbed Tobirama's hand.
"Tobirama, it's been a long time. How have you been?"
Tobirama's mouth twitched. He silently pulled his hand away.
The clan leader cleared his throat, awkwardly stroked his beard, and smiled. "It's like this. Although that young man An Yan rescued us in time, I had already expended a large amount of chakra. My life force is greatly diminished, and I don't have long to live. But the Uzumaki clan has just joined Konoha, and I can't just leave them without a care."
The old clan leader glanced at An Yan. "The best way to integrate into a new community is through marriage. My Uzumaki clan has many fine young men and women who are unmarried. I wonder if the Senju clan has any suitable marriage partners? Of course, if young An Yan is not yet married, he could also take a look at our clan. He might find someone he likes, and then we would be family."

Tobirama sighed leisurely. "The Senju clan is in decline. There is only one young child still in the academy. We can arrange for some Uzumaki children to join his class and let them get to know each other freely. Let's not arrange any marriages. If they get together, that's great. If not, they can still be good friends."
Seeing Tobirama's attitude, the old clan leader understood his meaning. It seemed that to take root in Konoha, they had to take it one step at a time. Fortunately, the Uzumaki clan still had Mito as a backer in Konoha, so they wouldn't be bullied.
Tobirama and the old clan leader were still talking, but An Yan's mind had already flown to Tsunade. Marriage was something that should be done sooner rather than later. He had to settle things with her.
Tsunade had just finished a tiring day. She changed her clothes and prepared to go home.
She had just reached the hospital entrance.
An Yan appeared on time, as usual. But this time, he was holding a bouquet of roses.
Tsunade stared at him, stunned. Is this...?
An Yan walked up to her, knelt on one knee, and offered her the flowers and a ring.
"Tsunade, will you marry me?"
Tsunade gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. Tears streamed down her face. She held out a trembling hand, and An Yan gently took it, slipping the diamond ring onto her finger.
She suddenly grabbed his hand, pulled him up from the ground, and hugged him tightly.
"An Yan, you finally proposed. You jerk."
An Yan held the sobbing Tsunade and asked gently, "Why do you say that? We haven't been officially together for that long."
Tsunade sobbed, "I've wanted to marry you for a long, long time."
An Yan didn't ask how long. He just patted her back and comforted her. "I'm sorry, Tsunade. I kept you waiting."
Tsunade lightly punched him a couple of times, composed herself, and then asked, "Why did you suddenly decide to propose today?"
An Yan was honest. "I had a mission yesterday and brought the Uzumaki clan back to Konoha. They're trying to integrate into the village by arranging marriages everywhere. They even approached me, but I refused. I was worried they would try to arrange a political marriage for you. I don't want you to marry into the Uzumaki clan."
Tsunade raised her white, delicate fist.
"Political marriage? I'm not to be trifled with. I'll decide my own marriage. No one has a say in it."
An Yan smiled and nodded. "Of course. My Tsunade is the best."
The two of them walked hand in hand through the streets, discussing their wedding plans.
"We'll have to invite a lot of people. Classmates, teachers, and all your Jonin students."
"Yeah, even the Uzumaki clan who just joined will probably come. But I'm not sure if I should invite Danzo. I don't really want him at our wedding," An Yan said, troubled.
Tsunade's eyes crinkled in a smile. "That's easy. Just have Teacher Sarutobi send him on a long-term mission to the border."
An Yan smiled and booped her nose. "Is this the so-called 'small indulgence of power'?"
Tsunade laughed at his words. "That's a funny way to put it! Hahaha."
As they say, "Speed is of the essence in war."
Half a month later, Danzo received a mission. There was some movement in the Land of Lightning, and he was needed to lead Root to stand guard. He eagerly set off with his subordinates.
As expected, Konoha can't do without me. A task like guarding a nation's border can only be handled by me.
And at that very moment, An Yan and Tsunade were getting married.
Many distinguished guests came to congratulate them. Almost all of Konoha's higher-ups were there, along with the heads of all the major and minor clans, the Wood Style Jonin he had taught, and all his teachers and classmates.
It was a gathering of almost all of Konoha's combat power for the next forty years. If someone were to drop a Tailed Beast Bomb here, it would wipe them all out in one go.
An Yan had no parents or relatives, so he asked Tobirama to be the elder on his side and officiate the wedding.
Although Tsunade was from a noble family, An Yan was just a commoner. Their wedding was simple, without the complicated rituals of the nobility. They just drank a cup of nuptial wine, exchanged vows in front of their friends and family, and that was it.
Then it was time to eat. Everyone feasted.
While making a toast, An Yan chatted with his friends and found out that two other couples were getting married soon: Koken Uchiha, Kagami's son, and Akimichi Yone; and Sakumo Hatake and Haruhi Yako.
The ninja world was becoming increasingly unstable. As young people, they would have to go to war sooner or later. So, their thinking was simple: leave behind a descendant before they might die. Also, female ninja did not have to go to war while they were pregnant.
This was a form of protection for the women, although it wasn't very effective. If the husband in a ninja family died in battle, the wife would often soon follow. It was hard to say what the point was.
In any case, the wedding was a perfect success.
